Your spelling was off a little. Here's the site to reach them from the U.S.

http://hurtigruten.us/?country=US

Their U.S. office is: Hurtigruten, 5100 NW, 33rd Avenue, Suite 255, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33309

Booking & Information: 1-866-552-0371

THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio

Hurtigruten does not do the short r/t day sail on Hjurundfjord.

Does anyone know the company that does this? I'd like their schedule and prices.

Is there any other way to get to the Ulriken cable car beside taking their bus? How long is the travel time from Bergen to the Ulriken cable car? How long does a round trip take on the cable car?

I am trying to plan the day before I arrive; time is very important.

For starters, more information is here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1199350

If you're planning anternaltives to their own bus it's possible to

example 1: Bus form Bergen (10 min), walk to the cable car (10 min) and the cable car to the top (about 10 min)

example 2: Taxi from Bergen to the cable car (about 10 min)

Master Tom, Your posts have certainly gotten our interest and we would like to get your advice. We will be in Bergen on June 22 from 8 am to 5 pm and prefer to avoid ships tours. Your suggestion to take the Fjord sightseeing boat sounds interesting but this would use a lot of time (10 - 2) of our relatively limited port day. Given our situation can you suggest the best use of our time?

Hank

Sorry for my late answer, been in Oslo in over a month from the end of March to the beginning of May and I'm not so much online there :)

22 June is the official opening of the new Bergen light rail, it will be opened by our Queen, so it is Royalties present that day.

Depends on what you are interested in? History, views? :)

Here's a couple og historic museums:

You got the "Old Bergen" from the 1800's museum, kind of an open air museum of old houses and equipment from the 19th century, Bergen

The Edward Grieg museum: http://www.kunstmuseene.no/default.asp?enhet=troldhaugen&sp=2

(This place it not so good to travel to without the touristbuses)

Master Tom,

Do you happen to know of a car rental service that could take us from Bergen to Fantopf, stay awhile so we can explore the stave church, and then return to Bergen..

one that will not cost us $200 US???

I use a wheelchair, so cannot take the tour that our cruise line is offering (they're using a non-accessible bus). It appears to us that Fantopf is only about 5 k from Bergen...so the cost quoted seemed way too high. (I can get into a regular sedan type car, and my chair folds...just can't step up, or climb steps into a bus...

What do you think?

Fantoft Stavachurch is not so far away.

Taxi could be an option, Taxi 1 got mostly vans and got the cheapest fares.

A taxi fare to where I live, on the other side of the glowing bridge you are passing before you enter Bergen by sea costs me around 300-350 NOK and around 15 km travel (just an example from a sunday)

Rentalcars for one day is from 600-1000 NOK

It's hard to see on the map if it's good access for wheelchairs from where the bus in service stops, most of the buses now has low-floor access

Do you know the location in Bergen and time of the official opening events for the light rail that will take place on June 22?

Do you have any thoughts on what to do with a port day in Molde?

I have gone to the Molde web page and basically there is a lighthouse on an island -- need to take some form of transportation. There is a ferry schedule, but directions are not given in English. There is also a museum, but it appears it has several locations and not all will be open when I will be there in mid-June. No information is in English.

Is there a boat or ferry day trip worth taking? Are there contacts for day tours?

Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks Terry,

Both cruises share Bergen, Geiranger, Tromso and Honningsvag.

Differences:

The Constellation visits Olden, Molde and Alesund (7 ports).

Crown Princess visits Hellesylt, Trondheim, Flaam and Stavanger (8 ports).

Each ship has perks for us, so differences are minor, but it's the itinerary that may decide. That's where I am at a loss and any help is appreciated.

Hi ;)

Hope you don't mind me writing but i see that you are booked on the Crown Princess in July and Celebity Eciplse next June to the Baltics. We must have the same tastes, because we are also on both cruises. and only 28 days for the Crown. we are getting excited and beginning to pack!

Enjoy the cruises

Does anyone have recommendations for local tour companies that have fjord tours of the Gerigangerfjord and Sognefjorden (Flam/Gudvangen) that will accomatate a cruise ships' schedule of arriving in the morning in Flam and leaving from Gudvangen in the evening and arriving in Hellesylt in the morning and leaving from Gerianger in the evening? The cruise ships' excursions are quite expensive and I would like to investigate booking my own tours. Thanks!

You should join the roll call for your cruise & see if others may have tours to share

I would check with the cruise line for Hellesylt if independent travellers can disembark here.... usually it is just a port call for the cruise lines tours & they pick them up in Geiranger later

In Honningsvaag you can get a taxi to the North Cape for a lot less that the cruise line if you can find others to share the trip even better

We are paying 1850 NOK for 8 passenger for the 3 hr trip to the North Cape

Or a trip on the Bird Safari
