I went through a PVP and booked all the cabins at the same time. Every time I tried to call her extension after that, she was not available so I assume she left the company. But I was always put through to someone who could help. But she made sure our reservations were all linked so we have dinner together. We like anytime dining, but with a group I think it will be better to have assigned dining just so everyone knows where to be and when. I am not sure there is really anything more you need to do in terms of reservation.

I don't know that I can commit to a full fledged review but I will certainly post my experiences once we return. Bon Voyage!

I hope so! and some pictures?? :D

I am using a PVP, have used the same for years but we are doing the rooms as people want them. He/she takes care of the booking and I am the hand holder.

Anything about your experience with a group onboard will be helpful. I completely understand about a long review..

Bon Voyage to YOU! Don't forget it's your cruise also!

momin05 - have a great trip and post what you can when you return.

bob - we'll see. We'll see what, if anything, I get in the way of emails or offers when I return next month and don't have the next one already booked!

I think the last time that happened, I booked last year's B2B using a casino rate. So maybe I'll get something that will be a pleasant surprise. And if not, I'll let you know about getting in on your group rate, if it will still be open in another couple of months.

BrownCalico - that's what I thought with the shows but didn't want to say so definitely, since I didn't have my papers.

Good idea... we had an offer to go on one of the Premier cruises with a paid interior BUT timing is not right for any of them. I've not received any casino offers for regular cruises since June. Have a great cruise!

So somehow I got hooked into being the leader of a group from our Local VFW to go on the Fantasy.... and we are BOOKED! Next May a bunch of us from the islands and mainland will embark on a cruise with good friends. It's one of the cruises that goes to Little Stirrup Cay (CoCo cay for RCCL) instead of Freeport. So another cruise on a wonderful ship with great crew and friends to BOOT! YeaHa!

I like Little Stirrup Cay...actually anywhere beside Freeport!

We're going on Fantasy on Nov. 19. We already have plans for Nassau but I see this about Freeport and can't help but ask, "Is it that bad?" What would you recommend we do that doesn't cost an arm and a leg? We want beach and snorkeling and conch. Just walk over to the public beach?

The Freeport around the dock has changed a lot in the past year. It now has a Senor Frogs - which can be good or bad depending - which has caused other bars and businesses to rethink the port area. You now have several bars, a "straw market" with all the trinkets for sale. You have several eateries including one call "Robertson's" that has wonderful conch fritters, fried lobsters, etc. and you can get a gallon of water for 3 bucks which beats the heck out of the cruise prices!

There is no "public" beach near the port.... there is a beautiful beach in walking distance of the port (OK a bit of a hike) BUT DO NOT SWIM!!!! There is a restaurant there that is famous for shark feeding and they stay close So NO Swimming.

If wanting to snorkel you are going to have to cab over to Port Lucaya and catch one of the snorkeling boats or go to one of the other beaches that offer snorkeling off the beach such as Paradise Cove. Plenty of info in this thread, just search.

Have a wonderful cruise!

I just got off Fantasy on Wednesday, so to answer the recent questions... The doors are not metal, even though I had asked that question before and am positive I was told they were. I had taken magnetic white boards but had to use two sided tape to hang them.

Fantasy does have Cheers. None of us got it but I saw them selling it. You will see it on Lido when you get on.

As for Freeport, for beach, conch and snorkeling I would recommend Pat and Dianes long tour. You will get all three plus lunch. Great reef snorkeling, private beach, free drinks, lunch and fresh conch they catch. Otherwise, you can take a cab to Lucaya and go to the free beach and get conch at Billy Joes. But you won't get snorekeling that way. And by th time you pay for drins and lunch and conch, you probably won't be better off than Pat and Dianes.

I was on the 9/11-16 cruise and went to Dead Man's reef in Paradise Cove. It was awesome, they meet you to the left when you get off ship. It's $35+tip including bus drive there. The snorkeling was as awesome as Cozumel and Grand Cayman. The water was sooo calm and there's a big reef. There's a nice beach too, but honestly I was wore out after snorkeling. There was only 20 of us on the big bus. If I ever go back I will do this again. It was so good to get away from tourists;)

Just email Barry on the website and he'll put your name down. You don't pay till you get to the cove.

I'm researching cruises for spring break 2014. I really just want a relaxing caveat ion with my partner that won't break the bank. I have been on several carnival ships including some of the other fantasy class and the dream. Will I be disappointed with the fantasy after being on a larger ship like the dream?

The pros of choosing the fantasy out of charleston is I can drive down the day of the cruise (I only live 3 hours away) which will save money for a hotel. By taking 3 days off of work prior to spring break I can save over $400 of the spring break price. It does offer the cheers program which I took advantage of on the dream and it worked well for us.

Ok....thought??

and 2 more questions (besides the weather one above)

Anytime - Middle - Hotub - not in the gym... Sauna/steam, yes.

which dining room has the Anytime Dining? (middle or aft?)

is there a hot tub in the gym?

Weather in Dec. can be warm or somewhat chilly... Nassau will be warmer than Freeport. Went snorkeling Dec 27th about 6 years ago and used a wetsuit... very glad I did! That was in Freeport on a land vacation.

The weather in Charleston can be 80 and it can be 40. Oct 31 it was almost 80, today (Nov. 3) the high was 60.

To thegoodlife247 -

I've been on the Dream and several times on Fantasy. If both departed from Charleston, I would go on both. The Dream is big and has more "stuff" but it's also BIG and takes forever sometimes to do things.

The Fantasy is smaller but still big. Not as much "stuff" but less people, smaller lines, etc. The Fantasy is easy to get around and the staff is wonderful. Take it for what it is and you will have a great time!

We had ATD mid ship in the Celebration dining room last month. We didn't go to the gym so not sure about the hot tub.

What is the Cheers program and how much is it? I've never seen it on my other cruises before. We are going on Dec 9-14. Thanks

For a price of like $50ish/day you get 15 drinks a day (in a 24 period). All adults in the cabin have to purchase..not just one person. If one person gets it, all adults have to purchase it...and it must be for everyday on the cruise. You can't purchase it for just one day.

we leave on the 14th and I am still having questions. One more please...... the safe in the grand suite, is it a number one or is it one that needs some kind of card with magnetic strip? If you need a card could you explain how it works?

Thanks for all the great answers you have all given.

I love the Fantasy for all the reasons you stated. I love going on all the newer bigger ships too, but if relaxation is what I am looking for I will book the Fantasy every time. I too live in NC so you can't beat going out of Charleston and not having to fly. I think the Fantasy has the best Serenity of any of the ships I have been on. It is located in the Aft and is so peaceful out there. We can spend the whole day out there reading, napping, repeat!! All the other ships I have been on Serenity has be up high near the front of the ship. Several times it has been closed the first couple of days due to high winds. Like Bobsfamily said go into it with an open mind and don't expect all the bells and whistles of the Dream. It is still a great ship and has everything on it just maybe on a smaller scale. I'm going again on her in Feb. Can't wait. Enjoy.
