Liberty of Seas Question

Recommended Posts

My first time cruising and have couple of questions.

1. The documents say they won't start boarding until 1:00, but I think I've seen on here where people have said they get to the dock at like 10:30 in the morning and start docking soon after. What is the earliest we can get there?

2. Once on the ship, what will be open (pools, restaurants, etc)

3. I know that you can't bring liquor, but I keep getting conflicting stories as to if you can bring water/diet cokes on board. What is the final verdict, and how much can you bring on?

Thanks....13 days away!

Get to the dock about 11am as boarding usually starts shortly after that and you can go eat lunch at the buffet in the Windjammer. The cabins are not ready til about 1pm so you will have to take your carryon stuff to lunch with you. Yes, pools will be open but not the shops on board or the casino. These will open once you are out at sea.

I never bring my own drinks....too much trouble for me. There is nothing wrong with the water on the ship.

You can get to the port as early as you want. The problem is when they will start boarding. I would certainly not arrive before 11AM. Be aware that delays in disembarking the previous cruise could push boarding times back.

The best venue upon upon boarding is the Windjammer. Try the honey stung chicken and nice first day desserts.

My first time cruising and have couple of questions.

1. The documents say they won't start boarding until 1:00, but I think I've seen on here where people have said they get to the dock at like 10:30 in the morning and start docking soon after. What is the earliest we can get there? Depending on how quickly US Customs clearing the ship is dependent on what time returning guests get off and new guests get on. Arrive at the pier as early as you wish, normally in your documents it will give a time for you to arrive. Warning: Be prepared to wait no matter if you arrive early or late, because several thousand people need to get off and get back on. You may not have to wait at all, but don't be dissappointed if you do have to wait.

2. Once on the ship, what will be open (pools, restaurants, etc) All pools will be open (unless otherwise noted) and the Windjammer Cafe will be open for lunch. The main dining room is closed for lunch on the first day (but open for you to go find your assigned dining table). Either eat lunch in the Windjammer Cafe or have a snack at Sorrentos Pizza or the Promenade Cafe both which are located in the Royal Promenade.

3. I know that you can't bring liquor, but I keep getting conflicting stories as to if you can bring water/diet cokes on board. What is the final verdict, and how much can you bring on? From what I've read some people get away with bringing water/soda onboard and some do not. If you must have a certain type or brand of non-alcoholic beverage, then bring it with you. Royal Caribbean ships only provide certain types of Coke-Cola products. If it gets taken away you'll normally get it back when the cruise is over, if it doesn't get taken away enjoy!

Thanks....13 days away!

Is this your first cruise? You will enjoy Liberty of the Seas soooo much. Have a wonderful cruise, and don't forget to submit a review on the cruisecritic boards when you return! Enjoy!

We were able to get onboard Liberty at around 12 PM. Got there at 11 AM and breezed through check-in.

We brought a small duffel bag with 2 12-packs of cans of soda without a problem.

The Windjammer will be open, as will the restaurants on the Promenade.

I have brought soda onboard, have never been questioned or challanged. I normally buy soda at every port call, I find a convience store on my way back to the port; I leave it in the shopping bag I bought it in, have never had a problem.

You will love LOS!!!! There is not one thing that I didn't like.

For a ship that big, you would think that there would be long lines during tendering/@ windjammer/elevators etc. ... never happened. I never felt crowded at all.

See the link below for pictures of nearly the entire ship.

Oh ... we arrived at the dock in Miami at 10:15 and was on the pool deck at 10:45. (It might have been unusual.)

Have fun!

Been looking for the answer to this question. Does anyone know who the concierge is?? I know who it is in the Diamond lounge but was looking for the name for the Concierge lounge. Thanks everyone.

Thanks for the info. Yes this is my first cruise, will be girlfriend's 3rd. We can't wait!!!

You'll always remember your first cruise.

Your luggage may not appear until the evening. (Sometimes it comes early in the afternoon, but who knows.) Pack a bathing suit and other things you might need in a carry-on for the time before your luggage does arrive.

Have fun.

We always try to arrive around 11:00. Hotel check out is about 11:00, so we really don't have anyplace to go. You may have to wait to get on, but for us, it's worth the risk. Getting on ealry is fun. You get to explore, maybe swim, if you want, lunch begins at 11:30. You can tour the spa, and get the layout of the ship. About 2:00, more festivities begin.

I never bother trying to bring my own beverages, because, it is not permitted, and I don't teach my kids to break the rules, and two, we get the soda cards, and three, I can't carry enough soda, for my kides to drink in a week.

If you're sailing on May 30, that's the sailing that I'll be on...with about 15 of my good friends for my birthday.

With that said, Port of Miami is...special. I suggest you get there at 11:15 or so. This way you won't have to wait long to board as Liberty gets back from its previous cruise at 6:00am. Don't bring drinks with you as security there can be a little rude and will not hesitate to bark at you.

See you on board!
