Rare mahdnc Posted June 10, 2010 #51 Share Posted June 10, 2010 Yes, congratulations to the Blackhawks from a Flyers fan (who is now living in Chicago). Our son had a baseball game last night and most of the fans (parents) and umps were checking their cell phones quite often.

A Sixth? Posted June 10, 2010 #55 Share Posted June 10, 2010 I thought hockey season ended a few weeks ago  It went on longer for me than you. :D Glad the Hawks won (those Flyers are scoundrels! :-) ) BTW Were the finals available on any Celebrity ship? Any passenger able to watch any of the finals while onboard?
Deb1113 Posted June 15, 2010 Author #56 Share Posted June 15, 2010 Sadly the Flyers lost, but they came so much further than anyone thought they would. It was difficult to find the score. Matt told me about Sunday night's game and I happened to turn on ESPN Thursday morning when they actually turned away from Rugby coverage to give some scores of USA sports. And I don't know about the rendition of the national anthem at Hawk's games, but this occurs before every important Flyer's game. Even the Versus announcers were awed. (For anyone who doesn't know it, the Flyers have an outstanding record when Kate Smith (alive or dead) sings God Bless America before games.) I understand the ratings for these games were extremely. Shows what happens when two great sports cities are in important series.
BOB AND PINKIE Posted June 15, 2010 #57 Share Posted June 15, 2010 I'll see your "Kate Smith" (Yes, she was terrific) and rasie you a Jim Conllison. Jim was formerly with the Chicago Lyric Opera. I have had the pleasure of seeing this in person a few times. NBC showed this live, just before the Hawks kicked the Broad Street Babies' butts in game 5 Estimates of attendance at the Hawk's victory parade Firday ranged between 1.5 and 2 million. http://blackhawks.nhl.tv/team/console.jsp?catid=894&id=71841 GO HAWKS
