cmoq Posted February 7, 2005 Author #26 Share Posted February 7, 2005 We finally left Miami in the early morning hours. Ship seems to be working finel We had our life boat drill at 10:00 this morning. I think that was because passengers did not have to be on board until 11:30 last night. Last night's dinner was good. We are at a table for six - had requested a table for two but were told there were only three tables for two in the dinning room. I had broiled cod (on a diet, yuk) my husband had rib eye (which was more like prime rib. Bob's meal was very good, mine just average, what can you say about broiled fish? We didn't do anything but watch the GAME after eating. We have the early seating. After the life boat drill, we walked all around most of the ship. She is very beautiful. The shops were packed - time later to look through them. We are in cabin 1552 and will try to post pictures. Seattlelover: We will go to the Champagne Bar tonight and say hello to Fredi for Mr. Mark and Bev. Will write more later. Catherine
rachel_f99 Posted February 7, 2005 #27 Share Posted February 7, 2005 You can't put the diet on hold until after the cruise?????? I have to say, Rib Eye definitely sounds more appealing!

trucruz Posted February 7, 2005 #32 Share Posted February 7, 2005 Anybody on the March 6th sailing on the Radiance? I was just wondering if you've gotten your docs yet. We're counting down the days! No docs for 3/6 yet. Come on over to the roll call board and say Hi. There is a combined roll call for 3/6 and 3/13. Did you sign up for the M & M? This is going to be great to have someone posting live this week. Thanks cmoq for your posts.
cmoq Posted February 7, 2005 Author #33 Share Posted February 7, 2005 I will check on the 3 card poker. Bob is going to play in the bj tournement at 2:00 this afternoon and I will check to see what is available in the casino. I forgot to mention that our cabin, 1552, can be seen from people on the deck of 1554. Also, when we are on our balcony, we can see into cabin 1554. I have never had a situation like this before and at first it was a little unnerving. Getting use to is though.
chorder Posted February 7, 2005 #34 Share Posted February 7, 2005 Can you tell me if they allow smoking in the Schooner Bar? Royal Caribbean says yes, but some posters have said no.
cmoq Posted February 7, 2005 Author #35 Share Posted February 7, 2005 we have walked through the schooner bar. did not stop, but i will check on that for you. We did notice that the Colony Club, which is just behind the schooner bar allows smoking in part of it. You could smell the smoke in the whole area, though. I just got a notice in the room that we have received a table for two at the late seating. Not sure that is a good thing. I think we would rather eat before 8:30. Oh, well. Be careful what you ask for. You may get it.

skiiergirl Posted February 7, 2005 #38 Share Posted February 7, 2005 Catherine....We prefer the late seating....especially on port days. Hubby considers it a deal breaker....if we ever get early seating he will cancel the trip. Who is the Capt, CD, LA, Concierge now? If you happen to hear how long any of them have been on board (just come on or are they about to leave for vacation, etc....who their replacements will be, etc.) we would appreciate the info. Have a great cruise. RD is our favorite ship and crew.

cmoq Posted February 7, 2005 Author #40 Share Posted February 7, 2005 The high today is in the low 70's. Some people are around the pools in their swim suits. I felt like a needed a sweater. Very windy. The casino does have three card poker. One table. We watched for a while. Still don't understand the rules. The Schooner Bar has NO smoking tables. We walked through and every table has a no smoking sign on it. The Colony Club, right beside the Schooner Bar has a smoking section. We went to the wine tasting this afternoon after Bob lost in his first round of blackjact. The wine tasting was fun. The captain is Darin Bowland. He was on our first RC cruise on the Grandeur several years ago. The CD is Gordon Whatman. Don't know anything about him yet.
stretch Posted February 7, 2005 #41 Share Posted February 7, 2005 Hmmmm......I'll have to put my thinking cap on for that one!!!!! ;) Sorry, got this ship confused with the Serenade out of PR, my bad. skiiergirl Posted February 7, 2005 #42 Share Posted February 7, 2005 Catherine....Gordon is great. He is a hoot. He is our favorite CD. If you get a chance, find out how long he is onboard for. We are hoping he is there for the PC sailing in April. We had Capt. Darin last year and he is really nice too. Thanks for the info.
SF Posted February 7, 2005 #43 Share Posted February 7, 2005 Catherine, Glad to hear you'rehaving a good time. We always prefer second seating so don't worry, you'll enjoy it especially on port days. This way you can relax when you get on board again and not rush so much getting ready for an early dinner. Do you happen to know who the concierge is? Thanks for keeping us updated. It's great knowing what's happening on board, makes our waiting at home a little easier to bare.

Kimq Posted February 7, 2005 #48 Share Posted February 7, 2005 We were on Radiance two years ago and just loved it. Do they still have the Totem Poll? and does Gorden still play the Surviver game? I played and it was a lot of fun. Enjoy your trip and on the day of disembarkation Gorden does this great thing in the theater so everyone is not board. Go it's fun. cmoq Posted February 7, 2005 Author #49 Share Posted February 7, 2005 Willie Salaya is the concierge. We met him yesterday afternoon and he seemed really nice. We have not had any other contact, other than to get a quick cup of coffee before the life boat drill this morning. I feel like I am missing some of the questions, so I will try to re-read them soon and get back to you. This is adding a new element to our cruise.
