After reading more than enough bad reviews of the Sky I decided to cancel' date=' got all my money back, and rebooked same dates on RCCL Majesty of the Seas. This will be our 3rd cruise on RCCL and I feel sooooo much better about this cruise now. It did cost me about $200 total to switch but in my opinion will be money well spent.[/quote']

Before you canceled you missed the review for Sky.. for NCL lovers.. great reviews there.

With considerable encouragement, I did take the 9/13 cruise on the Sky. My 9 aft cabin was perfectly clean, the air conditioning worked great, the food was edible. The only serious complaint I do have is concerning the behavior of guests and the lack of "control" by NCL management. We attended the Karioke, and it was later at night in the Outrigger. Some of the songs were performed with lewd behavior. 2 "ladies" performed a song and during the performance one of the ladies bent over (in half) and then shook her booty literally. Up, down, back and forth......shaking away. She had on a full skirt, and not a long one! She was a large woman and had a great deal of body to shake about. It was probably the worst thing I have seen on a ship in the name of "entertainment". There were children, some very young, in the bar. I do believe that NCL should have censored that behavior and/or had the children removed. Other songs were also in bad taste, but nothing compared to the "rump" exhibit. We did leave that bar and went to other entertainment on the ship.

Thinking about the bar experience, maybe I "got what I paid for". Low cost and low class?? I have attended Karioke on RCCL and never thought anyone behaved like these women. Not sure if this behavior/tolerance is native only to NCL. This was my only complaint, but I will not sail again on NCL because of it. Been on more than 20 other cruises (RCCL, HAL, Celebrity, Princess) and I have never seen such performances on those cruise lines. NCL did not let me down about anything else. Since we all can choose, I am going to stay with the other cruise lines.

Anyone else find the Karioke on NCL to be on the disgusting side?

If you've only seen this on NCL then 1) you haven't been looking or 2) you've been extraordinarily lucky. Thanks for letting us know about your cruise.

That actually sounds hilarious! And what were children doing in the bar? You should have immediatley approached them and told them to get their kids out of there.

So funny that one fat chick shaking her ass as you so upset.

It was not just one fat chick......but she was the most shocking. The children were with their parents.....a few babies in arms too. I can't understand why it was allowed by the NCL bar.....but I did not want to get into any arguement that night so we decided to leave. After all......you think the issue is a problem with ME......so better to not approach anyone else with it!

Not been to a whole lot of Karioke...that is true. Did see some of it on RCCL and one bar in my hometown. It was mostly just drunk people singing.....never saw the floor show that the NCL passengers provided!

No offense. I was on this cruise. If this is the only complaint you have and you "WON'T" sail NCL again because it, then you were pretty much looking for any excuse not to like them. I would be willing to be the $ I won in the casino that it isn't going to matter what cruise line you travel with, if you look for only the bad, you will find it. I actually found that everyone was pretty well behaved.

I do hope you will find your perfect cruise line and have a great trip. It does sound like you are partial to RCCL.

Wow! Touchy! I did enjoy the cruise....I wrote that the kids in the raunchy Karioke bar and the "quality" of the performances were my ONLY complaint! I'm not exactly a "party party party" person....to quote the SKY cruise director!

I am NOT partial to RCCL. I did not find the other passengers as offensive on HAL, Princess, Celebrity or RCCL. Certainly, there might be some, but have not encountered them being lewd. The one thing I am sure of was that there was a fat chick doing a rump dance in a short skirt that was in very poor taste (I believe that the "dance" would bring about an arrest for indecent exposure in my state or town).....and since I am the only person that must think so, I shall cease to be offended by not chosing that cruise line. I did think that the ship was clean, the waitstaff generally wonderful, food edible.....I do think that NCL should have a base of standards that they enforce....like maybe no kids in the bars at night when they allow passengers to be raunchy????

Maybe you all think I have been living under a rock, and perhaps I have been. Just not used to seeing anyone flash their rump at a crowd in a Karioke bar...so maybe I am just too prehistoric for NCL to be my cruiseline of choice! Do remember being "mooned' once while driving.....and I would not think that would be good to do in a public bar or in front of little ones.

But it is the responsibility of parents NOT to bring their kids to the bars and "adult" themed activities. I have seen a few as labeled adults only but very few (which should then be enforced). Usually it is suggested as to the age so therefore that would fall under the responsibility of the parents not NCL.

And yes, I doubt you would see this (booty shaking ) on HAL as our experience last year on the Eurodam was that we were definately in the minority as far as age is concerned (we are 29) and not sure that booty shaking from passengers on HAL wouldn't be even more offensive to most than your experience on NCL!!

Also it is pretty hard to hold any cruise line responsible for how "adults" act...especially when they are on vacation and having fun :D

okay bigfoot.. didn't mean to bust you.. but I've been a majority of the same lines you have... I've witnessed this lewd behavior on every ship we've ever been on... maybe in this case you ran into a time warp and hit the karaolke bar at 9:10p when some chick had gotten '1st serving drunk'... but any of the lines you now 'prefer and i've been on have the same crap happening.. but its after you go to bed... go to any lines disco/ dance, karoke bar after 12 am and this is what you get.. (well except later at night the buts get smaller and the bodies thinner.. LOL

You have to always take people's opinions with a grain of salt. I will be on in 10 days. I have never done one of these 4 dayers and havent been on NCl since I was a little kid. I am 29 and I am going with my Bro-In-Law who is 25. I am very very easy to please. My review will be coming soon. In response to an earlier post. I would never not look forward to going and even consider cancelling just because someone who you have never met did not like something. Keep in mind you went in 08 and loved it. According to the reviews in seems like the cruise has gotten better since 08 so relax and enjoy

You are 100 percent right that you have to take comments with a grain of salt. However, a lot of people seem to be offended by the rowdy manner of behavior in a public place. AND, if hip hop music and rap is not your cup of tea and it is blasting, How do you relax?

Guess we just got on with a "lively" bunch, huh?

Been off the cruise for a few weeks now, and have learned a lot about Karioke. Seems many participants perform the most "dramatic" songs they can come up with. Think I'll pass on this entertainment next time, preferring the professional performances. Something for everyone!

Any time you have an amateur performing in this type of setting there is the chance they are going to be "out there". The atmosphere is conducive to it because for one thing they are among strangers that they will never see again.

Bad Karaoke Bar experiences are easily avoidable......

I am trying to envision a GOOD Karaoke Bar experience......

Nope. Cannot envision it.:)

That's easy, a good karaoke bar experience is the one you miss because you are at the dentist having a root canal;).
