Giantfan13 Posted November 6, 2010 #1 Share Posted November 6, 2010 Don't know if anyone here follows the TV show 'The Amazing Race', but last weeks episode took them to St Petersburg. I am a full blown 'Race' person, watched it from the very beginning. Last year they had, I beleive, 2 full shows in and around Tallinn. I don't know if this weeks show will stay in St Petersburg or not. Usually then stay one week and are off somewhere else. http://www.cbs.com/primetime/amazing_race/ Cheers Len
MBM54 Posted November 6, 2010 #2 Share Posted November 6, 2010 "The Amazing Race" is my favorite show, and I also watched it last week. We're planning on a Baltic cruise next summer, so it was nice to see some of the sights in, and around, St Petersburg. The potato planting challenge was also quite amusing.:p Buff
Ashland Posted November 6, 2010 #3 Share Posted November 6, 2010 We are big Amazing Race fans too !!...Wish they would have shown more of the city, but it was great seeing some of the areas we were just in this past August..We too enjoyed seeing Tallinn just before we went to the Baltics..It was one of our favorite ports. Can't wait to do this cruise again, as we always seem to really enjoy places even more the second time around...

Rare TLCOhio Posted November 7, 2010 #6 Share Posted November 7, 2010 Yes, did catch a little of this show that featured both some of the Norway Coast and St. Petersburg. I'm not a regular on that show, but it was nice to catch those parts when they are in areas of the world where we have visited. Below is a picture of one place in St. Petersburg featured during the show when they got their next instructions. THANKS! Enjoy! kaisatsu Posted November 7, 2010 #7 Share Posted November 7, 2010 It's always fun when the race goes to places you've been! Sometimes I'll actually look through recaps of old episodes and watch the ones in familiar locations! In the previous episode, it was amusing to watch the team eating Smalahove. The appearance is certainly off-putting, but it's actually not bad! I was talked into it by a gourmand friend, but I know plenty of Norwegians who've never brought themselves to try it! Honestly, it's a lot tastier than lutefisk!

TMLAalum Posted November 7, 2010 #9 Share Posted November 7, 2010 The AR teams had some fabulous weather during there time in St. P! I wonder by how much time we may have missed seeing them....we were there June 19 & 20th. I loved the challenges of last Sunday's episode and the comments of the Babushkas toward the potato planting contestants were delightful. When we were in Tallinn, we located the House of the Brotherhood of Blackheads that was featured on AR. Our lunch experience at Olde Hansa approximated the AR teams' experience in candlelight. Remember the male duo that couldn't figure out what they were searching for when they read the clue that told them to look for a candleabra? Bet & Peg Posted November 11, 2010 #14 Share Posted November 11, 2010 Oh Len ~ you're SO right!! I was rooting for Michael and David to win - even though I didn't think they stood a chance!! Guess it shows my age - even though I'm only 39! (ha! ha!) I am so glad they stayed in Russia - it was great seeing the Church on Spilled Blood and saying "I was there"!!! Doughboy139 Posted November 11, 2010 #15 Share Posted November 11, 2010 I'm also an AR fan and really did enjoy seeing the sites of St. Petersburg again and saying I was there...in fact I enjoyed the Baltic cruise so much that I'm doing it again on Sept. 11 along with the TA afterwards......now I can buy the other canvas painting that I liked so much in Tallinn.... Dushi Posted November 24, 2010 #16 Share Posted November 24, 2010 It was unusual for AR to air two episodes in one City/town. Great to see all those sights again (the Fortress, St Isaac's, Church of the Spilled Blood, Hermitage) and appreciating the fact that although we were on a tour, it wasn't as hectic and stressful as what the contestants had to endure. I am rooting for "Katya and Natasha".
