Great review and love the Chef's Table food porn. However, I'm a bit confused. We did the Chef's Table on the Liberty Thanksgiving week and from the presentation given by the chef, we were left with the impression that although the Carnival MDR and steakhouse menus were standardized throughout the Carnival fleet, that this was the one opportunity the chef had to be creative and to come up with his own menu, however your courses are exactly the same as we were served, right down to the plating of the food (ie., the 3 sauces served with the steak, the dessert presentation, etc.). So, it appears that the Chef's Table menus are standardized as well. Still, a wonderful experience though!!

I'm hoping the aft wrap prices drop significantly for my Feb cruise..I'm too poor...lol.

I'm poor too! LOL!! Got my aft wrap buy luck...price dropped for senior rate at the same time, someone backed out of the aft wrap so we kinda' broke even. Thanks so much for your reply...just realized how short the time was in Freeport. (I was sooo hoping to not get up early for anything!!:))

I forgot that I wanted to post pics of these two cabins that I got pics of.

We spent all morning in our cabin waiting to get off the ship rather than in the mobs throughout the ship.

The stewards had the doors open to our surrounding cabins waiting for the cleaning crew to come in. So, we snuck in and took pics.

The handicap cabin...6234..next to our cabin...

I heard they were adding Bermuda to the Pride run..I would love to go back to Bermuda for a week!

OK......Where did you hear this rumor and is it in conjunction with or separate from the usual Port Canaveral, Nassau, Freeport agenda?

BTW...LOVED the review and pics.

Separate...currently the Pride has 2 different itineraries. One is just to Bahamas...the other itinerary includes Grand Turk and Half moon Cay.

In addition, Carnival is adding a Bermuda itinerary on its own..7 days.

Previously, we would just hop in the taxi, pay the $5 and be dropped off at the casino area right across the street from the straw market and when we were ready to return we could just walk over to the casino area and grab any cab to go back to the ship. This time was a little different and the next time I will make sure not to fall into this trap again. You paid the $10 round trip, they gave you a ticket and you told them what time to pick you back up again. I don't like that arrangement too well as you never know what could be going on and what time you might want to head back. I don't like to be kept to a time period. Anyway, I won't do that again.

Thank you for your great review! I have a question about the taxi. You said you won't be locked in to a return time for the taxi agin. I agree with you -- that sounds like a pain. What other option is there if this is now how it is done?

Speaking of the beach at Our Lucaya, it sounds like you did the free beach. Have you ever purchased the day pass at the resorts in the area to use their beach? How does the free beach compare with the resorts?

Thank you,

Brad

Thanks for your review rraydon.

We're onboard next month, and hoping for best possible weather. Have done Pride before, and love it as a Spirit ship.....as well as only a couple hour easy Sunday drive !

May review your funtimes beforehand to see if we want to plan something.....which we never do on a cruise !

Not all the cabs are from the same company. There are many cab companies there and some taxis are just freelance. Since I now know some drivers are doing this round trip thing, I will ask around first and only take the ones who are one way. The good thing about the Bahamas is...there are taxis everywhere.

I've never done the resorts in Freeport. I've never been docked there long enough to warrant spending the money.

Thank you,

Brad

Now, I did love spending the day at the Atlantis resort while ported in Nassau, but it's getting to be too expensive.

I love the Pride. We were on her in June - the alternate week - when she goes to Grand Turk and Half Moon Cay. It was one of the best cruises I've been on - we plan to do the week like you did this July. I love the beaches the best and then the straw market. I laughed when you said your friend had to buy extra bags to get her "loot" home. I did too.

I also went with 2 other women and this year 4 will go - good to know that you all had enough space in the room. Of course there's so much to do that you don't spend much time in the room.

Loved your pics - they took me back to a very happy time on my Pride cruise.:)

We were worried about not having enough room in the cabin for 4 women, but all was well. We were very careful to keep our stuff organized and out of each others way. Two of us used the spa showers each night so that made it more do-able also.

I haven't been to grand turk or half moon cay. Between that itinerary and the bermuda one, looks like at least 2 more trips on the Pride!...;)

  • 2 weeks later...
That is where we spent the several hours between leaving our cabin and disembarking, at the end of our Pride cruise. All over the ship people were jammed up in crabby loud crowds, while DH and I sat in peaceful comfy silence, reading our books and waiting for our group to be called. :D

Shhhhh - Don't tell anyone. This is a great place to hide for awhile ;). We have been on the Pride twice and are going again the end of the month. This is a perfect place for a coffee/tea and a magazine/book on those cold winter days while waiting to get to or from the nice warm weather.

Monday we didn't get up until about 9am. After showering we went up to the Lido for breakfast.

Our roll call M&G was arranged for 10:30 at the aft pool. Of course we hadn't planned on it being windy and cold as could be. I got there at about 10:25 and as soon as the first few couples showed we moved inside. We wore marti gras beads so we could find each other. Since we were the only people out there, it wasn't necessary...lol. We all chatted for almost and hour and then we went on about our vacation. I liked see everybody throughout the ship and saying hi. We all showed up for almost all of the "tea times" at 3:30 on sea days. As a matter of fact, we all saw each other later on that day for tea and some of us sat together and took pics.

I wish I had gotten pics of everyone from the roll call. We took some of all of us at the M&G. Maybe someone will post them so I can tag a few.

I'm only on page 2 so far. Great review. Your review is making me really ready for our cruise later this month. Great pics too. Looks like you guys had a lot of fun!

Donna, Bravo - loved the review. My wife and I have been on this run before but stayed on board in Freeport. This next cruise we wanted to go to Lucaya. Looking at your review has convinced me to do so. On our last cruise there, some folks went to Port Lucaya to visit old haunts only to find out that they were gone.

The one problem with Lucaya that I have is the time we are there. It seems like you guys were able to pack some fun into that small amount of time.

Again, thanks for the review!

We definately have fun in Freeport.

Next month we're gonna try something alittle different.

We're gonna do an island tour with an independent vendor. It's $35pp and you visit different places around the island including a perfume factory and Port lucaya for a bit and back to the ship. It's 3.5 hrs long.

We were originally going to do a jeep excursion riding on the beach, but we did that in Mexico and my husband's theory is..driving on one beach is the same as driving on another.
