"Princesser" does Carnival... lots of photos

Thank you for taking the time to write this great review! We were on the Legend out of Tampa last March so all of these photos brought back great memories for me. The ship looks exactly the same! We are going on the Triumph out of New Orleans this March for our Spring Break. I have done several Princess cruises and agree completely with your assessment of the decor. My first Princess cruise I was in my 20's and the last one I took was just before I turned 40. I prefer the decor there, but have thoroughly enjoyed the Carnival cruises I have taken so far. This will be my 4th. We took our girls for the first time last year and they will be with us (and two other families our age with kids our age) again this year.

We had always been on Royal Caribbean, so we were a little unsure of this ship. We were very impressed with the ship and really enjoyed it. Our only complaint has to do with traveling with someone in a wheelchair. My DH has an electric wheel chair, some of the hall ways were way too narrow, as was the elevators. The public bathrooms entry ways were too narrow to take the chair. They had only one place for a wheelchair in the theatre, luckily no one else with a chair came to the theatre. The room was very great for the wheelchair.

Loved your review, it's been several years since I've been on the Pride but it still looks good. A bit over the top I know, but that's Carnival for you.

I can't see the 3D effect but love the pictures anyhow.

I wish the Pride was still on the west coast, don't know when I'll get to sail this ship again.

We have a Grandson that would love to go on the "Big Boat" and watch the "mighty machines".

Should the day come when we can include him I would most definitely be on Carnival (Can't affort Disney).

Carnival had something for everyone and everyone was included, Little ones, teens, young adults and parents and grand-parents. Most of this is the result of the Cruise Director Staff and Camp Carnival both of who I will talk about a bit later. They are deserving of their own individual posts.

I have different committments today so will continue the written review either tonight or tomorrow.

HOWEVER... these committments are related to Pride so as I complete each photo I will post it here just to peak your interest.

PRIDE TOWELS in 3D...

towels3D.jpg

If you still havn't read the instructions for viewing.

1. sit back and relax your eyes

2. begin to cross you eyes... stay relaxed and don't try and force it

3. all of a sudden a third photo will appear in between the outside two.

4. try and focus on this middle photo, this is the 3D photo effect.

5. If at first you don't succeed. Relax try again and then go to something else for a while and then return.

Note: Once you see it for the first time you will remember the feelings your eyes had and each following viewing will become easier and easier.

Good luck.

Great way to display the towel creations! I can't wait to cruise again and see them first hand.

Thanks ... BUT NOTHING replaces actually arriving in the cabin to find your "towel of the day" waiting for you. 1D, 2D, 3D or whatever, it just isn't the same.

Booking another cruise is the only solution I have been able to come up with!:)

Well, Sorry for the delay over the weekend, I had other promises I had to keep so I hope you understand.

Moving aft from the Casino one encounters the Main Atrium. I spoke of my feeling of the décor on Pride in earlier posts so won’t berate that subject anymore.

I found the passengers on Pride to be very participatory when it came to dressing up on Formal nights as is evident in the photo below.

DSC05936.jpg

The women and little girls were all dolled up and yet they somehow seemed out of place in Prides Atrium. Further, every nook and cranny was occupied by one photographer or another. Each had their own backdrop which was nice but it did interfere with the movement of the guests.

One thing we enjoyed very much on Princess was the Champaign Waterfall, where everyone had a chance to go to the top and get a photo of them pouring the Champaign. See photo below.

I really missed a photo opportunity such as this on Pride. Family gatherings assembled on the staircases but, again (IMHO) seemed somewhat out of place with them dressed up and the stairs so dark and heavy.

OK… OK… I have said enough about the Atruim so will depart, but not before mentioning the one interesting and unique feature found there.

Associated with the panorama elevators is a space that rises up to the top of the ship that is capped with a skylight. This gave a unique and beautiful effect to the area and, when we were in David’s Steakhouse on the first night, we noticed we could hear the music from the Atruim as it rose up to us. This might bother others but I found it to be inclusive as we were away from the crowds but still felt like we were with them. I almost began thinking I was missing something, especially since we were up there during the SuperBowl.

I hope you can view the 3D photos by now.... here it is in 3D

Good Morning Kim! oh yea Hi Steve.

I can't speak for others but I believe that "Celebrity of the Week" on Pride is deserving of a post all to himself. Believe me Natasha will be featured promenantly.

She and I had a great long talk after you disembarked. Soon the world, well the CC world will know the truth. Enquiring Minds want to know!

Take care.

wilfros, question, we have cruised different lines, but Carnival not one of them RCCL is our favorite. We did the Sea/Sun Princess which was very nice. My question is about fellow passengers, we are in 50's, and husband likes to play Basketball, is this available, and were your fellow passengers rowdy or subdued. The decor reminds me of the old Big Red Boat with wood panelling etc. Cruising out of Baltimore, would be great for us as well, no flying. We currently like to cruise out of Bayonne. I like the fact that the pool area has retractable roof. Will have to give Carnival a serious look after your review. Thanks for taking time.

Thanks. It's so nice to be able to share your hobby (passion) with others and I am so glad others can see the effect.

I do not intend to review our land excusions as we only did one and then just goofed off on the other 2. So I will leave that to others.

But, instead I will attach another 3D photo from our land visits with each post response I submit.

If you have any questions or requests please let me know

Kennedy Space Center Launch Pad with the shuttle in place for launch. Not the best angle but the only one our tour allowed for.

As far as basketball on the ship, there is a court but it's on the highest deck and it is very windy. The net around the court is pretty low so it's almost impossible to take a long shot and not hit the bottom of the net. It's usually just teenagers playing though. I think you'll find some of both rowdy and subdued people on every cruise depending on where you go. Sports bar - rowdy, piano bar - supdued, casino - rowdy, deck areas - subdued, etc.....

I agree with Rama however, never once did wee see or even hear about roudy to the extent of being disturbing. All actions of the guests on our cruise were completely in keeping with the entertainment or events of the moment.

For example: On our first day at sea, we arrived on the upper decks to find everyone "roudy" jumping and running around. They were all screeming about something and everyone was looking out the windows.

We learned that we had just sailed into, or alongside a school (pod??) of dolphins and some were putting on a show for the Pride. We missed it completely!

That was the most roudy we saw all week. Loud... Laughing, Crying from tired children... YES But never disturbing nor something that in any way effected the pleasure of our time on board.
