Okay I mean nice places like the Caribbean. I love Canada but it seems that I can only go to Canada from New York. I also do not think Royal Caribbean leaves form New York. And I would like if they did. Never been on one. New York is the best port for me. But I am just wanting to go somewhere other than Canada

Both Royal Caribbean and Celebrity sail from Bayonne, NJ which is just across the harbor from New York City and besides Canada they cruise to Bermuda and the Caribbean. You really need to look more closely at what each line offers in the way of itineraries as you seem to have an incomplete knowledge of your cruising options from the Northeast.:)

I want more smoking areas, not less (but keep the cabins non-smoking).

Why not make the ship all non smoking just like the airlines are now. Some times it hard to go into the casino due to al the smoking and smell.

"lol no do not get me wrong I love Canada but it seems that 90% of the ships that leave form New York go to Canada or over seas (to much money) Canada is very beautiful but i have been 5 times on cruises form New York."

No problem!! I too wish Canada was tropical!!! But alas, it isn't. I remember a (comedic) political movement in Canada to buy a tropical island just so Canadians had a warm place to go in the winter that we could call home. That was funny!

You don't own a tropical island, but you do have Cuba! It just drives me nuts that we Americans can travel to Viet Nam (not that I'd even consider going there) but still can't travel to Cuba.

Hey Deb, hows the big guy and family?

SINGLE OCCUPANCY CABIN - I am planning to go with a bunch of girlfriends in the fall... but I would love my own space - I share space at home with a man and kids - a REAL vacation would be my own space ...! I would go often.

I think it would be nice for groups that have a single traveler - as we have 13 going and the single guy had to buy the whole room - and due to the cost he's stuck inside. We all have suites and balconies...

Singles on different pay levels would be sooo nice...!! Little balcony seat - private bathroom, cozy bed - huge closet... LOL I want that...!

I agree, with 80% or so of cabins being balcony cabins, it would be great to have not only cabins for solo travellers, but also have some of those be oceanview and balcony cabins as well! Just because we're on our own doesn't mean we should be relegated to an inside cabin because it's currently the only affordable option!

2) Single-occupancy cabins or enhanced-pricing options for those traveling solo.

You know, I wa thinking about this. While I'd prefer just not having to pay a single supplement, alternatively, I would be somewhat okay with paying the supplement, so long as that amount above and beyond the individual fare were credited back to me as OBC.

I would love to see a revolving restaurant located high on the ship. Floor to ceiling glass,

something like Seattle's Space Needle but incorporated into the ship design, not sticking

up in the air.

A glass bottom bar would be incredible while in the Caribbean. I am sure the designers could

cover the glass with retractable plates while moving and then retract them once anchored

for tendering or while docked.

I have always thought fireworks at sea was a great idea. Music playing and the sky lit up

with fireworks.

Also I'd like to see them relax the "no guest' policy. I think having a friend or two come

on board for a brief visit wouldn't be that much of a security risk.

Of the above suggestions, Solo Cabins or waive the extra cost for last minute solo travelers.

Some other minor ideas...More elevators! Anyone who says you don't notice the crowds on larger ships is in another reality. I watched one couple wait 20 minutes for an elevator during de-embarkation on Sunday. Both were in scooters and every elevator was jam packed with perfectly ambulatory pax. Maybe make the elevators "reserved" for the ambulatory impared during loading and unloading.

Light switches which make sense. Those buttons drive me bonkers! Never know which one button will turn on the one lamp I need to read while DH is asleep. And while I'm on buttons...who's bright idea is it to put the bathroom light button behind the door? Everyone knows light switches go on the handle side of the door, not the hinge side. And how about a night-light setting for the bathroom lights. If I have to pee in the middle of the night, the lights in there just about blind me.

More electrical outlets, especially need one for the coffee maker on the bar area in GS/OS rooms. I don't like having the coffee maker on the makeup vanity. It makes the bedroom area smell like coffee and wakes me up when DH makes his first cup at 4:30am.

One electrical outlet on each side of the bathroom sink.

Mini-friges which actually keep food at 40*F.

I'm sure I could think of more..

I know it's impossible for this model, since they're already contracting to build them in Finland, but I would love to see RCL build 2 or 3 US built ships that could qualify under the Jones act. They could do east coast, Gulf coast, and west coast cruises. Stops in Boston, NY, DC area, Savannah, Charleston, St. Augustine, Port Canaveral, Ft. Lauderdale/Miami, Key West, Tampa, New Orleans would be really nice for a change of pace.

Of course, this would also make Hawaii much more attractive, since you could fly there, and sail around the islands. Now that Mexico is less popular, San Diego, LA, San Franciso, and ports in Oregon, Washington and Alaska could also be popular routes.

Obviously, the sensible thing to do is to repeal the Jones act, but that's not going to happen, and getting a ship built in the US, although expensive, is at least doable, compared with Congress doing the right thing.

That would be fine if there were any US shipyards with the facilities and the skilled workers to build those ships. Unfortunately that really isn't the case as NCL found out several years ago when they ended up transporting a partially completed hull to Europe to complete one of their ships. They even applied for a waiver that allowed them to flag ships in the US despite their not fully complying with the laws in effect at the time. Senator Inouye of Hawaii carried their water for them but things still didn't work out. Lack of adequate shipbuilding facilities, skilled workers, and exorbitant prices make it unfeasible to build those ships here.:(

I have a few ideas. First, for the single cruisers,or people that just like to travel alone, make a small number of cabins available for purchase. If you get inside the 30 day window and they are not sold, make them available to the general public. You know they wont go unsold. The lazy river idea is a great one. They can do this, and it doesnt have to be an Oasis class ship to make it happen. Lastly, how about an adults only area that has a pool with a swim up bar. Maybe a pool with a swim up bar at each end? Just a thought...

No choices fit.... would love ONE bar.... 24/7 that is "adult only"... that's it! Love the kids... but, since they have neighborhoods on some ships for kids, none for "adults only".... why not one bar and one restaurant area(in regular dining rooms).. for adults only... meaning 16, 14, years old, whatever... just a place for people who love kids, but want some time-outs for adults.

I think that EVERY cruise ship (line) should offer you table size choice when you make your reservation - AND GUARANTEE IT. Celebrity does it and we have ALWAYS had the two top we requested.

SO - it is a guaranteed table size or we will not cruise with you.

We had no problem getting a two top table on Princess.

I would love to see pool tables on the ship. I took Radiance of the sea they had a pool table I enjoyed it I do not know how to play pool but I enjoy playing the game. It would be nice to have a bowling on the ship like NCL has. And more out let I have a nebulizer it makes it fun to find a outlet when I need it.

In your "poll' you did not ask about single occupancy cabins at lower prices. I was not the only one who sugested that (far more than wanted underwater windows), yet you ignored that topic entirely in your article. If I can't afford a 200% surcharge, I won't be on the ship to begin with. A cabin is to sleep in, and the cabins don't need to all be the same size.

PS: A coin laundry with irons on all passenger decks like Carnival and Cunard have.

I was just on the Allure and found a huge closet and so many storage spaces I did not even use half of them! (I was on the 3rd deck ocean view)

PS: I hated having to reserve shows in advance, especially when the staffs "hand held computer" would then say I had no ticket when I showed up (I had to carry my printed reservations on the Allure to shove under the nose of the "guards" at the door to the shows, who could have cared less).
