I am now VIP on Carnival-other than not waiting in line to get on ship, what other perks so I can take advantage of everything

I copied this from another post

This is from Carnival's FAQ's:

What are the benefits of being a Platinum guest?

Past Guest Recognition Program - Platinum Guest Level Benefits

Available exclusively to Platinum Guest cardholders who have sailed aboard the Fun Ships ten times or more, Carnival’s Past Guest Recognition Program benefits are designed to recognize and reward those longtime Carnival guests for their loyalty over the years. These privileges and benefits will be offered on the tenth cruise.

The Platinum Guests will receive a special welcome aboard letter from Carnival President and CEO, Gerry Cahill detailing the exclusive amenities and privileges available during their cruise:

Priority Embarkation: Upon arriving at the cruise terminal, the guest must ask for VIP Check-In, in ports where VIP Check-In is normally offered.

Personal Guest Service Staff: An exclusive, fully staffed Platinum Desk for personal service has been established at the Guest Services Desk. In addition, a dedicated phone line is available from 8:00am-8:00pm.

Personalized Stationery: Special stationery personalized with the guests’ name will be delivered to the stateroom prior to embarkation.

Canapés: Canapés will be delivered to the stateroom one evening via room service.

Note: For cruises 5 days or longer only

Petit Fours: Petit Fours will be delivered to the stateroom one evening via room service.

Carnival Logo Item: A special Carnival giveaway will be delivered to the stateroom.

Complimentary Entry Fee into Blackjack or Slot Tournament: Past Guest Recognition Program: The Platinum Guest (18 years or older) will contact the Casino Cashier Cage for his/her complimentary ticket.

Complimentary Wash and Fold Laundry Service: Complimentary unlimited wash and fold laundry service.

Guaranteed Dining Assignments: Guests may change their assigned dining time.

Note: This is for the Platinum guest and immediate family, maximum of two staterooms.

Guaranteed Steakhouse Reservations: Guests may get confirmed reservations for the Steakhouse.

Priority Spa Carnival Reservations and Complimentary Treatment Upgrade: Guests will be encouraged to book early to be assured of their requested appointment selection.

Priority Tender Boarding: In ports where the ship will tender, guests not on a shore excursion will proceed to the Platinum Desk and be escorted to the appropriate gangway for the next available tender.

Priority Debarkation: Guests will receive a debarkation letter offering a choice of how they would prefer to disembark the ship. They will be given the choice of Self Assist (where offered) or regular debarkation; for regular debarkation, the guest will receive Carnival Platinum Luggage tags.

Are you VIP as in Platinum, as in this will be your 10th cruise with Carnival? Or are you VIP because you booked a suite. If it's the former, then you get everything mentioned above. If it's just because you booked a suite, then all you get is priority embark.

The VIP Embark is the biggest perk when you happen to arrive at the port behind 4 transfer buses from the airport!!!

OR when there is a delayed boarding due to fog and EVERYONE is trying to get on at one time.

On the Holiday ....people stood in line for an hour when it was 5 hours late getting in because of fog.

We were checked in and on the ship in 15 minutes...woo hoo!!!

Yep... you become Platinum for that cruise... not after that cruise...

:)

Rumour has it the qualification rules may change, to take account of days cruised, rather than the number of cruises, which would help those that take fewer, but longer cruises.

I have attained Platinum on Princess, by just that means.

Sad to say, Tim, that rumor has been about for years... I don't think we're going to see any changes soon and almost certainly not any interline assistance...

I will be platinum in May.

So a few questions:)

On embarkation, New Orleans, what would be a good time to arrive at the port?

My son will be with us in a seperate cabin, but on the same credit card, will he embark with us?

Is the laundry service available every day?

When I booked this cruise the pvp asked if I wanted early or late dinner seating.

I was not given the option of anytime.

If I get dinner seating priority then can I now request anytime?

Are there any other obscure, possibly unwritten, benefits that might come in handy?

Oh, I read in John Whoosit's blogy that pins are made available to platinum cruisers so what does that mean?

Thanks all!

We sailed the Triumph at the end of Jan and got to the port about noon and were on in less than 20 minutes. The couple that was traveling with us was allowed to procede through VIP checkin, but I understand that this is not always the case.

The laundry service is available every day. Some days we got our bag back the same day. Others it was the next day mid afternoon. (Be sure to write down everything in the bag, things do get lost)

We had the anytime dining and loved it. I would call my PVP back and try to change. If not do it as soon as you get on the ship.

You will receive a pin the same night you receive your past gust gift. It was the notepad and pin a few months ago.

Is this like the past guest pins were?

I miss those.

So on the anytime dining, is there a platinum priority or is it luck of the draw?

The lost laundry thing is .

If they lose something is there any recourse or is it probably more trouble than it is worth to pursue reimbursement?

A pair of undies or socks is not a big deal, but I would hate to lose a pair of jeans or a favorite tshirt.

Maybe I should lay out the dirties and take a photo before it goes into the bag?

The twenty minute wait sounds nice.

We were on Triumph in late January and stood in line for more than two hours and got to the luncheon right before they closed the food service.

The pin is exactly the same as the past guest pins.

Its luck of the draw but not that bad. The first night it was 30 minute wait then it was less than 10 minutes. There were 4 of us. The trick is to send one person down to get the pager about 15 minutes before you want to eat then you will be fine. The time that the hostsess tell you that the wait will be are dead on.

Laundry- you are supposed to write everything that is in the bag on the bag. Make a list for yourself. The misplaced a pair of my wife's jeans and when when we told the room steward they found them the next day. It was pretty painless overall, but then again, they weren't my favorite jeans.

I believe that the put it all in one load so be sure to bring a color catcher along so things don't fade. It's just wash and fold, my Polo shirt was pretty wrinkeled but it was clean. I am not complaining, I just wanted to share so people are aware.

The pin is exactly the same as the past guest pins.

As posted in another link:

We just completed our 14th cruise on Carnival on the Triumph last week, according to the ship staff they are no longer giving out the past guest pins to Platinum guests either. She stated they were only passing them out to Platinum until the supply ran out then no more! Sucks as I collect them. We did get one on the Paradise in January of this year.

In addition we are Platinum and sailed the Triumph out of NOLA and the VIP check in is a JOKE!!!! You check in at the VIP desk and get through real quick, then the send you to sit with the crowds saying VIP will be boarded right after the wedding guests and handicap passengers. Only problem is you are now in a mob of a thousand people or so that half are already standing in the line. My only observation here is if Carnival is going to offer VIP then do it right or don't promise something you have no intention of fulfilling. We love Carnival as you can tell, we have cruised 14 times with them and we are booked for number 15 on the Magic in September. This experience with the Triumph has really left a bad taste in my mouth.

If due to a suite, also debark, plus you do get your choice in dining times.
