Fuel Surcharge

Sorry if this has been beat to death. With the sky high cost of oil right now I am not seeing any fuel surcharge on either Princess or HAL when I do a cruise search. I just received a last minute deal and there was no mention of it.

When you book it, you will be informed that Princess can implement if they choose to do so.

Both cruise lines have the right to impose a fuel surcharge of up to $9 per passenger per day if the price of oil is over $70 per barrel. It is built into the contract. The price of oil is now $105 or so, but most lines have not imposed the surcharge at this time.

There was such an uproar the last time they did this circumstances would have to deteriorate dramatically ($150+ per barrel and a marked decrease in passenger bookings), IMHO, for the lines to re introduce a surcharge.

Who knows? Princess might impose the fee in the middle of your cruise. They will just charge the $9 a day to your shipboard account.
