Surprise suggestions!

We cruise on the Fascination in 15 days. This was a last minute booking. My sister, brother in law, and niece are also on this cruise. They planned this in advance. We are surprising them on this cruise. I even got their cabin and booking number. I contacted Carnival to link our reservations in the dining room so we are at the same table.

What can DH and I do to do the ultimate surprise? I know they are going to be thrilled we are there with them. Of course, my 9 year old niece is going to be happy! I was thinking of just sitting on their bed in their cabin waiting for them to arrive. Or waiting until dinner the first night. Get to the MDR early and be there waiting for them.

Any suggestions?

How are you going to get into their cabin to be waiting on the bed?? that sounds problematic.

We had some crazies book last minute to surprise people and they had tee shirts made up with a funny logo about the surprise.

Great idea - if you could avoid them until dinner, waiting for them at the table in MDR would be priceless! But I'd hate to have to spend embarkation and the first cruise hours hiding/avoiding someone.

Actually this sounds like a fun idea...can you imagine them sitting at the table when they walk up? I bet they could pull it off.

On some of the past cruises I have been on, the cabin doors have been open until we got to the cabin. I figure if we get there early enough, we could surprise them.

That might be a surprise in a bad way though...if someone popped up in my room like that I would freak out. I liked the dining room table suggestion better, less stressful surprise.

I think it would be funny if you bought those fake glasses with the nose and mustache attached and when you spot your sister and her family on the Lido deck (after they've boarded) you and your family put on the fake glasses and "stroll" past them.... LOL ! :D

Have them paged to the come to a certain place on the ship and there you will be.

I LOVE this idea!!! It's such an easy way to do it, and you can check if they've boarded yet....I'm sure the GSD would be happy to page them for you once you explain.

My wife and I took her mother on the Carnival Miracle for an 8 nighter to South Carib. My wife's brother and wife booked last minute to surprise his mom. We were sitting in one of the lounges and saw him pull up to the parking in Ft. lauderdale, but mom did not see him. After we were allowed in our rooms, he just showed up and knocked on our cabin door. . . the surprise was just priceless!!!

Ohhhh the fun you could have with them... you could tell them that you happened to be in the port city for whatever reason and Carnival let you on the ship to say Bon Voyage, then when it's time to depart, tell them you are going to stow away in their cabins and refuse to budge lol and of course video tape it all...I like the surprise at the dinner table, too, that would be priceless, but you waste valuable vacation time with them during the entire afternoon...whatever you do have a great cruise!!!

My sister and I did this to my other sister, BIL and their family. Our plan was to, get this, be our look alikes, since on every cruise we always see someone that looks like someone in the group.

Keep a straight face and you are bound to run into them. When I did it my neice was standing at the elevator when I got off and I looked straight ahead and kept walking. I could feel her head turn but I kept walking. Later that night in the casino I was standing behind their inlaws and some of them walked right behind the machine I was playing.

Finally on the 1st excursion on the dock my sister spotted us and thought we were on the other ship in port. Threw her for a loop. Its kinda like playing secret agent man!

Have fun.

I think Granny is right. The whole family may not show up for the page. Also, you want to be sure they plan on eating in the dining room the first night. Some people I know skip it if their luggage does not arrive on time to change even though it's come as you are. You just never know.

Here's my idea. Tell them to keep their cell phones on that you want to say goodbye to the niece before sail away. Then when you know they have boarded, you board, call them and ask what they are doing and where they are. If they say they are hanging out by the aft pool, for example, there's your cue. Head straight there, keep them on the phone until you have them in sight then surprise them. If they are in the cabin, I would do the same until I you are knocking on the door. Just my thoughts, but good luck whatever you do. I think it'll be great no matter what.

LOL. Wait a minute. You waited until the first excursion to let them know you were there? That means you went through a full day at sea, at least, without spending time with the family you came to surprise? In theory, I like the look alike idea, however, it seems like a bit of valuable lost time that could have been with family. As long as it worked for you and you had fun!

Ask to borrow the" Funship Freddy" costume .....dance your way up to them....once you've got their attention...take off the mask and SURPRISE!!!:D LOL

Have a great trip!!!!

Cute idea, but that's like telling kids the Easter bunny doesn't exsist.....too much of an audience and too many crying kids I would imagine

I love the idea of the MDR suprise but as others have said it would be hard to avoid and precious time lost up until dinner time......especially during the Muster drill.....as there is a really good chance you will have either the same Muster station or one that is close by. I love the idea someone had of calling them on the Cell phone and suprising them that way. Plus then you would really only have to avoid them in the Terminal area.....there is another idea you could find out what time they are getting to the terminal and arrive at the same time and suprise them there. probably would not be expecting to see any familiar faces in the terminal.......or could even be waiting for them at the luggage drop area and if they don't notice you standing there ask them if they need help with there bags:D
