hubofhockey Posted June 5, 2011 #76 Share Posted June 5, 2011 1) approximately 4:30pm 2) Debatable. 40 people might fit, but not sure how freely they could move around, much less any drink servers. There is only one small bar in the room. It is a nice place, however. http://www.zydecocruiser.com/CarnivalMagic/ShipMap/04%20Mezzanine.htm#Escape%20Bar Thanks, this is just for a quick informal M&G for a not-so-active roll call. We do have some tour sharing. But looking at the deck plan, I didn't see a better place that would be quieter around 5-6 pm on embarcation day. maryann2 Posted June 5, 2011 #77 Share Posted June 5, 2011 Another question- is the MDR open for lunch on embarkation day? Your photos are as usual amazing.

beeg Posted June 5, 2011 #79 Share Posted June 5, 2011 More MDR menus and food porn: http://www.zydecocruiser.com/CarnivalMagic/MENUS/index.htm Your food-porn is the best! The pic of the baguette made me drool because I am a major lover of good breads. I previously thought that Carnival must buy the bread pre made, then bake it fresh as most hotel chains do. Last month I was on my balcony watching the cargo and supplies being loaded and I spied several pallets of 100pound sacks of flour. I asked a chef later in that cruise and he assured me that the baguettes wer made from scratch! I was so impressed.

Sargent_Schultz Posted June 6, 2011 Author #81 Share Posted June 6, 2011 I thought the Oceanside Barbeque was pretty good, although there was no real barbeque. Usually only open on sea days.

seabrookcruiser Posted June 7, 2011 #85 Share Posted June 7, 2011 Sargent_Schultz... We have so enjoyed your wonderful and very detailed pics of the Magic and the ports you visited while in Europe. We have a question for you...since we are going to be doing the October 16, 2011 cruise and the October 28, 2011 Trans Atlantic, what can we expect on debarkation day when the October 16th cruise is over...do we go through customs... and if so, about what time for the B2B folks...how long do we have to stay off the ship, etc. We are just trying to decide what we might want to do that day. We hope you will be on the Trans Atlantic. Again...looking at all your pics helps pass the time when our cruises are so far in the future! :)

It's a definite maybe as to whether or not you have to exit the ship. If you do, Carnival will escort you off, though immigration and back onto the ship ahead of the ones about to board. In our case, Carnival was clueless, but it was the first b2b for Carnival Magic. They told us to meet at the Purser's Desk about 9:30am and we sat around there for at least 30 minutes or more before they decided we didn't have to get off the ship. It may depend on how many people are doing a b2b. There weren't many on our cruise. They still have to give you your new sail and sign card and also to set up your shipboard accounts since it is a new cruise. If you weren't going to Dubrovnik, there probably wouldn't be any reason for Barcelona to care, but on the other hand, Dubrovnik is great and also saves you from having to pay 18% VAT on everything purchased on the ship. Thanks Sargent for the info. Yes...we are definitely looking forward to Dubrovnik. The icing on the cake is that we do avoid the 18 percent VAT by stopping there. hubofhockey Posted June 8, 2011 #92 Share Posted June 8, 2011 Bill, you are an incredible resource to everyone. You don't get paid to do this and your photos and information are such a benefit to anyone considering a cruise (especially now on the Magic or Breeze) and Carnival ought to be giving you VIP treatment for all you do indirectly for them. All of that being said, it is a bit of disgrace that I saw people calling you out as some sort of traitor because you called out a high ranking and very popular Carnival official for breaking the rules. You have integrity. Those calling you out do not.

bazarr2 Posted June 8, 2011 #94 Share Posted June 8, 2011 Thank you. No pictures inside of cabins except for mine. People tend to frown on you walking into their cabins and taking pictures. Exterior pictures are all I have, sorry. I noticed that you had a pic of 2346, that is my cabin when we board in Feb. do you know if the balcony dividers open to 2344 or is the safety door blocking it on that side?:p TIA ;)

Sargent_Schultz Posted June 9, 2011 Author #97 Share Posted June 9, 2011 Doah... forgot about the access hall (aka storage area for luggage carts). The reason I had a picture of 2346 was because I was checking out what some of the white space on the deck plan was. I think opposite 2346 was I'll guess that partition opens even though they appear to be connecting cabins, but no guaranties.
