I wanted to start a thread about the PRIDE. Have you been on her? When? Where? Did you like it? What cabin did you have? What was your favorite part? Anything else specifically about the Pride that you want to share?

I would love to keep this going!! I sail on her 8/21/05!

Sailed on the Pride last April. Had a most excellent adventure. Had 2 cabins one inside and one(7347) a wrap around balacony. Many fond memories. You will enjoy.

We were on the pride back when she was on the east coast we were in cabin 7322. Out of the fantasy, pride, and the miracle the pride is my favorite hands down. It is a real classy ship for carnival imo

We've sailed Pride... I dont remember the exact date but it was in July 2002... My favorite part of her was that it was my first cruise!!! since then we have sailed 4 more times and I booked another cruise yesterday for September.. The ship is beautiful!! everything about it.. My favorite part of the ship is the Butterly Lounge I believe its called.. You HAVE to visit it and take pictures.. its beautiful... I dont remember the cabin # but it was an inside...

Hope you have a great time!

Greengirl,

Your right you probably will spend little time in the cabin. We had a wonderful cabin but there was too much to do on the outside. Early every morning I would get up and stroll the "empty" ship it was so peaceful, the sea air a warm breeze blowing....

My DH and I were on the Pride on June 28, 2003 for our Honeymoon cruise. Let me tell you, it was the experience of a lifetime. When we first walked on the ship to the Ruby red Atrium, our first impression was WOW! It reminded us of a 5 star hotel! The ship is absolutely beautiful with the renaissance paintings and marble floors... the dark mahogany (?) wood also contributes to the ship's elegant atmosphere.

We were on the Panarama deck in a balcony cabin, 8193. It was perfect since it was mid-ship and we were thrilled to be upgraded since we had reserved an 8A guarantee.

I'm sure the crew has changed significantly since we were on board. The Pride was still going to the E. and W. Caribbean when we sailed. But the hospitality was unmatched. We were continuously treated like royalty and were sad to leave the ship. We even left additional tips at the end of our cruise since we received such amazing service. Our waiter's name was Carl and he was from Peru. He was such a sweetie, always calling us "miss Angela" and "Mr. Anthony." They may do that on all of the ships, but this was our first and only experience thus far on a cruise so it tickled us to be spoken to with such respect.

The food was remarkably wonderful. On the formal night, my DH ordered both the lobster and the steak. LOL He's a big eater anyway, so this was like heaven to him!

Definitely go to the Butterflies lounge. It's so beautiful with the butterflies on the walls and the blue sparkles on the ceiling. The Taj Mahol was also really pretty with the gold accents and everything sparkled like diamonds.

We enjoyed all of the shows and tried to participate in almost all of the activities that we could make it to (including the newlywed game. Dh and I were both onstage for that and got to watch it over and over again when they played it in our cabin t.v.)! We laughed so hard at some of the people during the games... in one of the games, these ladies had to go throughout the ship and find 2 men who would be willing to "do anything for a bottle of wine." They brought the unsuspecting men back and they ended up having to dress up in women's clothing and the audience had to vote on the best "Mr. Pride." It was hillarius. The men were so embarassed! They all took it in good sport though. There was also this guy on the cruise whose wife said he wasn't romantic enough. The cruise director asked where he was from and every time he said a certain word (can't remember what it was) the guy would have to stop what he was doing and run to the Taj Majal, get on stage and profess his unending love for his wife. At the end of the cruise, they gave his wife a diamond watch. It was so cute. And I bet they'll remember their cruise forever!

We enjoyed St. Thomas and also really liked Half Moon Cay. By the time we got to St. Martin, we were so happy with being on the ship that we didn't want to go on the island. LOL. I guess being newlyweds and being at that all time high contributed to our happiness. There was nothing in the world that we would have changed on our vacation. Being on this ship made us eager to book our next one and if I hadn't gotten pregnant a few months afterwards, we would have booked another one much sooner!

Our next cruise will be on the Liberty this December.

Have fun!

I was on the Pride in April of 2003 and she is a wonderful ship. By far the best of my Carnival experience. (And all of my Carnival experiences have been great!). My wife and I were traveling with another couple.

Ship was a beautiful ship, food was terrific, staff was superb, and the entertainment was awesome.

First evening about an hour before going to David's, was walking through the casino, Stuck $1.00 in a $1.00 slot and won $50.00. It paid for our dinner. Was a sign of good things to come.

Next morning, in the casino again, playing .25 slot machine, hit red7, double, double. I thought it was $400 pay out for red777 X 4. got to $400 and the machine kept spitting out more quarters. I looked again and saw (much to my delight) that what I was really being paid on was red7, white7, blue7 X 4 for a $900.00 payout. Later that day, I hit double, red7, double for the $400 I thought I was getting that morning. So it paid for my cruise. (Unfortunately, over all, Caarnival has still gotten more money from me than paid out to me in it's casinos over the last several years, and I expect that trend to continue next week on the Celebration and later in the year on the Inspiration)

Later in the week, I played ship board survivor and won. That was such a blast.

The only bad thing about the cruise was having to get off at the end. I was sad to see the ship move to the west coast, as I live in Tampa and Pt Canaveral is only a 2 hour drive away. Guess I'm going to have to try the Miracle soon.

Greengirl - The Pride's sister-ships are the Spirit (first of the Spirit Class ships, then came the Pride), the Legend and the Miracle. Layout is exactly the same on all of them just the decor/theme is different...........except the cabins, same furniture and linens, just different artwork depending on the ship and her theme. Spirit class ships are my favorite, so easy to get around on and seems the crew and way more happy. Now mind you I say this based only by my experience on the Glory, and compared to experience on the Spirit (5/2/03) and the Legend (12/21/03 & 12/29/03 yup a B2B). Enjoyed the Spirit so much that I'm booked for her 4/2 sailing and the Pride on Christmas Day.

Greengirl, wisefamily4 and The Love Bug Family - The current Maitre D' is Jean Pierre and we had him on the Legend, great singing voice and he starts every evening with a rousing HELLO !!!!!!!! which he wants to hear echo'd back from everyone. If you have a problem, a concern or a special request just ask him, he was so good with us .......... we wanted the same table and wait staff (Gene and Oliver ..... you rock!) on our B2B and he made it happen. So if you see and talk to him tell him the Ladies from Legend table 215 Christmas & New Year's sailing say HI!

We went on the Pride in March of '03. We loved it so much that I just booked the Miracle (sister ship) for March of '06. We considered the Glory but loved the Spirit class so much we decided to stick with it. On the Pride we had cabin #6258. We got upgraded from an 8G balcony to a cat. 11 suite. This was especially nice since there were 4 of us in the cabin. This time (on the Miracle), we booked an extended balcony for my hubby and me with the kids in an inside cabin right across the hall. Can't wait to go.

We were on the Pride in Dec. of 2003

We loved the ship and had such a great time. Our first balcony cabin (6273)and now we will not sail without a balcony again. Everything about that ship was wonderful! We also won in the casino and paid for our trip so that made everything even better. You will LOVE the Pride.

We talked alot with our bar waiter and got to know him and his girlfriend that was a waiter in the Casino on the Pride.

We have kept in touch with them through email. They are back in their own country planning their wedding, they asked us to be their sponsors in their wedding in Manila. We are thinking about flying over to be in their wedding.

We will be on the Pride on 4/24 (sounds like it is either almost empty or maybe a large number of groups that are not familiar with Cruise Critic boards). Can't wait as we were supposed to be on it in Feb., but my Mom had heart surgery (doing well now). We booked an outide g., but saw that we have been bumped to a balcony. It is obstruced as the lifeboats are at our feet, but hey it was an unexpected bonus, can't complain. I have been on the Legend and loved it, the fact the Pride has the same layout is a plus. Maybe I won't take the entire week to remember where I am. Anyone else out there going on the 24th? Lydia of Ohio

Greengirl,

Yes I am from L.A. and have taken this run(mex riv) many many times. For me the cruise plus the 3 ports hold something special. My wife speaks spanish very well so this has helped us get in touch with a Mexico that is apart from the tourist locations. Although I love those too! Swim with the Dolphins-golf-going deep into the jungle- its all great. Plus go to a locals home and eat a meal absolutely fascinating.

I just got off the Pride last Sunday. Our second sailing on her, she's a lovely ship. Enjoyed all the ports, weather was terrific. The Pride dining room and cabin service was excellent. Food was good, not great. We booked a balcony guarantee a week before sailing and ended up with cabin #7160- a balcony on the veranda deck. The ride was pretty calm till we left Cabo Friday & that last day sailing back to LA.

All in all a great value for a last minute vacation. Enjoy!

We have a large group going on the Pride in Feb. 2006; with over 70 people, the best way I found to keep in touch is with a message board. Our's has a ton of information about the Pride and our group's activities and you are welcome to check it out. You'll have to join to access our information, but once you do, you can go to the message section or do a search on the subject of your choice. We have no problems sharing! And you can quit the group when you are done.

Thank you for starting this thread. We are sailing in October with family (the big 50 birthday cruise). I have mostly been lurking on this board, trying to find out as much as I can about the Pride before we sail.

I'd still like to hear more about the kids programs on the Pride since we will have a few with us (not to hijack the thread).
