has anyone ever sailed with Captain Grimstad before? if so, can you tell me what he is like as i think he will be my captain on Allure on my August 10th 2014 cruise

We just sailed for 28 nights on Adventure with Captain Henrik , sailed with him many times on Brilliance but on Adventure he was a hoot. He visited the Concierge lounge many times. Including the overspill one and chatted with everyone. He also had autograph sessions in the photo gallery .

We had an 'alternative' Captain's table on both cruises one being at Johnny Rockets, it was fun and he danced! On the second cruise he asked me if I had posted about the Johnny Rocket's night on Cruise Critic to which I said no as I was being discreet , he laughed and said to post about it. So for anyone sailing soon ask him how you get invited and please say "Hi" from Heather.

He always seemed to find me in the Schooner bar:).

What ship was Captain MacDonald on previously? Any opinions of him as a Captain? Just curious. We will be on the Explorer in Dec. I will certainly miss Capt. Olav. Such a nice person. Of course Capt. Loy is very easy on the eyes.........;) and nice too.

He is coming from Jewel of the Seas. He is comfortable on stage with the microphone. He's not hard on the crew so they like him. Happy crew make happy guests.

I'll be boarding Adventure Oct 13 which seems to be the start of week #10 in the current rotation. This is a 14 night cruise. Do you know if they change mid-cruise or if contracts are 11 weeks or even 9 weeks?

they can change mid-cruise, I don't know if this is the case for AD. If my chart is wrong you'll have to report back so I can correct it. Capt Kristoffersen just got off LB after doing a rotation that wasn't 10 weeks (I think he did 11 weeks)

I'll jump into this thread, to say that in my travels with Royal Caribbean, on longer voyages, there have been 3 times, where, somewhere in the middle of a cruise, one Master has left the ship, and the reliever has taken over.

 

And once, when a captain was relieved of his job with Royal Caribbean......forever! That happened in the Norwegian Fjords, some years ago.

 

I don't know if you are saying that Captain Per Kristoffersen left the ship during a voyage, or at the end of the voyage. When we have been aboard with him, he has done both.......mid voyage, and end of the voyage.
