nick_091909 Posted July 25, 2011 #151 Share Posted July 25, 2011 I am intrigued to try out the new policy when I go this September. I am not a big fan of smoke, but I've dealt fine with it on previous cruises. Just stayed clear of a few areas. Personally I will be spending the same amount on my S&S card (which is WAY too much). I will just be spending in newer venues like the piano and sports bar. I wonder if smokers are still dropping the same amount of cash as well, just in different venues now. Thats what will determine wether this rule sticks. You know what they say; money talks, and "other stuff" walks :D

When we went on the Dream last Jan we spent a lot less time in the casino due to the smoking restrictions. Many times we could not get a machine in the smoking area that we could sit and play at due to them being full so we would leave thus not spending the money we normally would. I will probably not spend as much time out and about the ship at night since most of the venues are non smoking now which will mean less revenue being spent by me at night on the ship. We plan on spending more time relaxing on our balcony and having drinks from what we bought from Bon Voyage which will in the long run cost me less than the per drink price at the bar. I totally agree with what you are saying and will be doing the same too. I would rather spend my time on my balcony where I am allowed to smoke and drink in the evenings with DH. To all nons, well, I hope you can keep up the revenue needed to make up for the loss the smokers will leave, just saying ;)

I intend to spend a lot more time in the piano bar and casino instead of avoiding the smoke walking around outside to get fresh air. I will do my best to make up for your lost revenue. L_K Posted July 26, 2011 #156 Share Posted July 26, 2011 I am a smoker, balcony and one side on open decks is ok with me. At home i smoke outside on the balcony, even in winter ! It's my decision to smoke, it's my responsability to not incommodate others.

Back in the days when I smoked I spent 3 months in D.C. on a contract. It was Dec, Jan and Feb. The smoking area was outside of the building and there would always be a pretty good number of smokers out there. The thing that makes me laugh is the fact that on the really cold days when the wind was blowing at a good clip, there would be a mass of smokers all huddled together having there smokers. Imagine the scenes in the documentaries about the emperior penguins when they all mass together to keep warm. :D

jeanarch Posted July 26, 2011 #162 Share Posted July 26, 2011 We have always wanted to do the Piano Bar and never have because we couldn't breathe in there. Now we can. I am excited.
