?Couple of Questions?

1. Will it be fully acceptable for DH to wear shorts for diner in the Lido? On Princess we always eat in the Caribe Cafe and he feels more comfortable in long pants there as it is a bit more upscale that the Horizon Court.

2. Can one order wine at diner time in the Lido or should you bring your own from your stateroom?

3. Will the stateroom steward get you wine glasses or do you have to call room service?

4. Anyone want to guess the size of the bag uses for the "All You Can Stuff" laundry special? Did I read correctly that the bag is fabric?

5. Does HAL have Rack of Lamb or Lamb Chops on their diner menu?

Many thanks for your help. :D

Shorts are fine in the Lido during dinner. Just be aware if your husband plans to be out in public (show, lounges, casino) at night shorts are not acceptable there. They'd be fine in your stateroom, in the Lido, by the pool, playing basketball, etc.

Beverage stewards work in the Lido at dinner, so you can order wine from them or bring your own and pay the corkage fee.

The bag is small, but by rolling your clothes tightly you can fit alot in there (well, depending on the size of your clothes....a size 4 will take up less room than size 24). Make sure anything you send out is fine to be washed in very hot water and dried in very hot heat. You wouldn't want that size 24 shirt coming back looking like a size 4, lol!

You cabin stewards can get you wine glasses for your cabin if there aren't any there.

Lamb chops are available on some cruise. When they are offered -- some ships give you 2 tiny ones -- some ships 3 tiny ones.

Rack of Lamb -- haven't seen this in ages. Even the Pinnacle only gives you 3 lamb chops which sometimes are small.

We had rack of lamb on our last HAL cruise in March.

I'm surprised that you felt uncomfortable in shorts in the Cafe Caribe on Princess since I've seen plenty of shorts wearers there, but if you were uncomfortable wearing shorts in that casual venue then you probably would feel the same way in HAL's Lido. Shorts are acceptable in the Lido but wear what makes you feel comfortable.

It's my DH who didn't want to wear shorts (knee length) in the Caribe although yes, many many did. I always teased him that he just wanted to complicate my packing.

RonJoan I didn't really want to start any kind of clothes policing battle here as I've read way too many of those on the Princess boards. How about it if some of us just agree to disagree and if we find ourselves on the same ship to stay out of each other's way as to not cause you any disrepect.

To those who have answered my questions, a big thank you! :D

Seriously, I can't imagine why my dinner would be ruined in the Lido by men wearing shorts. I often wear capri pants or longish shorts and a nice top. If a woman can then men can also.

I think the Lido is for when you don't want to either bother with the MDR or just don't want to bother with the dress requirements of the MDR.

The Lido is a casual venue, I vote for shorts are okay. And also I saw lots of men in nice sorts in other parts of the ship in the evening. And I expect my own husband to wear his nice long shorts in various venues in the evening.

I have to say that I am always amazed at how very emotional some people get over dress code. There are certainly times when I have seen someone not dressed appropriately in the MDR for dinner...jeans, t shirt... etc.....and while they should abide by the code as suggested I would never let it upset me or interfere with my cruise experience. My husband always wears dress shorts with a collared shirt in the lido for dinner. It is what makes him happy and comfortable. I think that is what cruising is all about...to relax and enjoy. And to take a line from one of my favorite movies...that's all I have to say about that. (Forrest Gump);)

I don't see where your question about the laundry bag got answered -- Yes, it is fabric. No danger of tearing. It holds a lot for the laundry bag special. As someone else mentioned, roll the clothes and a lot will fit.

If I remember correctly, the laundry bag size is about the same size as a 5 year old's T'shirt and a little less pliable than a hevily starched shirt.

I never roll the clothes but do cram the clothes as tightly into the bag as humanly possible. We average 4-5 days worth of clothes for 2 adults into one bag:)

Never had anything come back from the laundry shrunk or damaged in any way. Not even denim.

Of course they're tiny - a lamb is a baby sheep. If they're big they should properly be called (young) mutton chops! Which I doubt anyone would order. ;)

Same here...we always go for the $20.00 special and everything comes back in good shape and folded. I have no time to do laundry when on board :)
