Silhouette - Blu

Okay, here a question for all our experts who have sailed in Aqua class on "S" ships. We're sailing for the very first time in March on Silhouette. We have already confirmed select dining since we are a group of about 12 folks, all good friends. 4 of us are in Aqua cabins.

If we are assigned to Blu anyway, can we still do our select dining as we've already pre-paid our gratuities? This will be our 22nd cruise on Celebrity but a very first experience on the newer ships. We'd love to try Blu at least 1 time for dinner and will definitely do breakfast but wondered if those who had experiences in this situation could advise of the way it works.

Thanks folks. I know I'll get a truly honest and truthful answer here. Can't get one from customer service that will be the same every time you call.

Blu is totally anytime dining, whether you have Select Dining is irrelevent but totally unnecessary. When you wish to try Blu just go to the dining room and show them your room card and you will be seated. Celebrity used to have a policy that if you chose Select Dining you were then assigned to the MDR but that has been changed....Just because you have pre paid gratuities does not mean you can't get a traditional eating time.

Thanks Don. This will also be our first time with Select dining so it should be interesting. We're all registered for this and it will be interesting to see what happens when we all show up at the MDR at the same time. It's really not necessary that we all sit together, we've already decided that, but we'd like to be at least near each other. We've always done traditional seating but, getting older;) we really need an earlier time than 8:30. Besides, if we eat that late we're ready for bed!

Again, thanks for the info. We really do want to try Blu and are looking forward to that little "perk".

Just keep in mind that even though you have Select Dining you are still permitted (even encouraged) to make advance reservations in the MDR. We normally do not make reservations since we dine late, show up along, and always prefer to share a large table. But if you have a group that wants to be together its really a good idea to either call for a reservation or do it in person the prior day.

Pat: If I understand your question, you want to know if you can do select dining with your friends in the MDR even though Blu is your dining room. And the answer, at least for us, was yes. We loved Blu, but joined friends in the MDR as select diners a couple of times. As you pointed out, you'll love breakfast in Blu. It was our favorite meal. Quiet. Always got a table by the window. Great service. Great food. So enjoy.

Thanks so much for all the replies! We already have scheduled the MDR for Select. We were able to switch to Aqua for a great price reduction so that was my main concern. We will definitely do Blu since we're able to do it with no problems.

We've also booked 3 specialty nights on our 12 night cruise so we'll be able to take advantage of all the venues.

I was concerned that we'd be confused about Blu the MDR and our Select Dining. Now we can just breeze thru meals without any problems.

Our group is not concerned about seating. We're all booked at the same time and will "go with the flow".

Again, thanks for all the great info.
