I have started my blog at http://www.luxurycruiseandland.com/blogs/index.php/photossw/

Current entries are found in the Categories link on the left under "Getting There" and the Athens link.

We had a long trip here, then we self-toured and then only got 4 hours sleep with all the being to sore to sleep/jet lag combo or whatever.

SS wants our bags out at 10 to go to the pier at 1 pm Sigh.

Weather is beautiful.

I've had a lot of trouble posting here on CC, they just don't seem to save when I write more than a sentence or two.

I did write a little blurb on Mykonos and on on Monemvasia out at the blog and put up more pics. I also added more Facebook pics for those following me there @Debbie Hoffren

Today has been very windy. I walked all the way back from the tour, and twice the wind almost lifted me up! It was an odd feeling.

It has still been beautiful. The pool deck has been packed.

We canceled our Olympian tour tomorrow. We are toured out and decided to use the money for Le Champagne instead. I booked in there the first night we were here for tomorrow to avoid the BBQ. They are opening the main dining room, too.

We also cut that gondola for 2 to a gondola for 4. We already went over our $1250 obc by $73 w/o Le Champagne since we each got the 1000 minutes on the internet. I will likely use a lot of Todd's.

Today, we were at tea for the sudoko challenge. I highly recommend the banana bread.

They had some Greek dishes at lunch. I do wish we could get up to any meal where we didn't rush the gents by either having 10 min. before a tour or showing up 10 min. before they close. They are good to us.

We are missing the movie system that Spirit has where you can store your place in a movie in your digital library. Wind still has the old style DVD check-out.

I would post more if it would save!!

I posted a few pics of formal night at the blog. I wrote a big article here last night and a big one there today, neither saved. I will type offline and see if I can get anything to save anywhere.

We had a wonderful evening last night dining with another couple. I love nights where you laugh so much that your face hurts.

Last night was the BBQ, and it is not our thing. We went up there for pictures and then down to the dining room, as I could not get anyone in person on the phone to confirm whether we could change a couple of the courses at Le Champagne. We canceled there. We went to the main dining room and had a quiet dinner (though I got the wrong dessert, and the waiter never even looked at me or ever came back) that was very good. I had two soups (different ones) and a veal dish, and Todd had soup, salad and steak.

We went up to the pool deck for the show that was after the BBQ. Studio 54. We enjoyed that, and then they had the disco party, and that was fun.

Later, I joined some of our trivia group in The Bar until 2 a.m. Todd had gone to the room, though I had hoped he went down for blackjack.

Last night was time to set back our clocks. I appreciate the ship always keeping real time. Some of the big ships don't change, they stay on one zone, as if guests aren't intelligent enough to understand world clocks.

I have been keeping pics of each port up at Facebook on Debbie Hoffren. I will try to get the blog up-to-date today.

We enjoyed the beauty of Corfu. The views up at the monestary we visited were spectacular. The local dance at the taverna was interesting, and we sampled both the red and white wine. They were over generous with it, bringing two bottles of red and two of white to each table. Our table only had 6, so a lot of it went to waste., though we all gave it a valiant effort. I participated in the audience dance part and had a good time, though I didn't get all the steps right away.

I am pleased to see more people staying up. When we left The bar at 2:15, there were still quite a few there, and the casino was still very busy.

There is a very good mix of people onboard.

There are two preteen kids with a multigenerational family. I believe we have traveled with them before. Great kids from Scotland, and it was fun last night watching them try to dance to the disco music, which seemed to be new to them.

At Olympia, we had canceled our tour and just got off for pics and then did a little shopping. They had a lot of knockoff bags like Loius Vitton. In Manemvasia, they had a lot of fake Rolex watches for 38 Euros (though they did not look like any Rolex I ever saw). Greece has a lot of pretty cotton things to buy, and if you can get away from the cheap trinket shops, the gold jewelry is beautiful and well priced.

The sea day doesn't look much different from the other days. He is having two trivias today. No wine tasting or food demo. I don't seem much of anything different. We always find plenty to do. There is another show tonight and I think the farewell party.

For those into caviar, they had the tiny servings at the Venetian Society party and they had the full setup offered on the formal night menu.

Thanks, Keith.

We are having a really good time. There are a number of people on here that we have sailed with before, and we have met a number of nice people on the tours and at activities. It has been very pleasant. The time is starting to feel short now.

Today, they had a pub lunch in The Bar with fish n chips, beef curry and rice, and shepherd's pie, along with salads and desserts. They did offer some British beer and had full bar service. Alan sang, also. He also did a show the other night.

Here we go again with the lost commentary, but I will try again in shorter spurts.

Duct tape, I will trust. My pics are open to all but would love to "see you" there as a friend.

Marcie, thanks for following us. It has been a really nice cruise. You would love this mix of people. It has been everything you or I ever dreamed of as companions. I can't even tell you just how great and balanced it has been.

Yesterday on the sea day, we had two trivias. We lost in the daytime and won at night (our 2nd win). We have bonded with our team, though the makeup changes daily a little bit.

Last night, we "donated" $210 to the casino. Since we were only $73 over on our account with the credit, we decided to think of this as entertainment expense. I just wish the entertainment had lasted longer, lol.

We had dinner last night with a German couple. It was quite pleasant. Fois gras was on the menu. This cruise, there has been a veal dish about every other night, and less fish, though they always have salmon and the shrimp pasta. There has been plenty of seafood around. One day at lunch, they had capacolla on the cold cuts side, and I have missed that the last couple of cruises.

Of note is that we have not had a fruit bowl even one day on this cruise. The friends we made onboard that are in the portofino suite have it, but we do not.

Today, we arrived in Venice before daylight. The sunrise was incredible, I was lucky enough to wake for it.

Tonight, we have the gondola ride. I plan to explore before that when it warms up a bit, as it will quickly.

Yesterday on the sea day, the pool deck was just so packed, even the hot tubs were wall to wall. We did not go there except for a cocktail run for the casino when Todd did the blackjack tournament. It was a $50 buy-in and counted in our $210 loss. He came in 4th of 14 after 3 rounds, and the top 3 positions paid out. It was quite an "animated" group, so Daniella had her work cut out for her!!!!

They had a sale in the shops yesterday with up to 75% off.

  • 2 weeks later...

I have posted lunch and dinner menus, activity sheets, port info sheets, and the "Who's Who" sheets at http://www.luxurycruiseandland.com. Just click the appropriate menu items on the right in the blog. I'm working on my trip report.

I am missing the first day of menus and the last day of activity sheets, but this should give a good representation of things on board. The menus are for the main dining room.
