The Legend Review that I never thought would be posted

Wow, just found this thread yesterday and spent waaaay too much time at work reading it over two days! Thanks for the wonderfully detailed description of your trip. Husband and I are taking the same trip April 29th. He's never cruised before so I'm sending him your blog posting to read. We are beach people and will most likely follow the same path you and your husband took at each location except Belize. We'll use that as a ship day as nothing there interests us.

How did you adhere the net to the outside cabin door? I think its a great idea and will help us "navigate" home late at night if our door is a little decorated (scotch tape?).

Also, totally stealing your painted toes idea. Just remember, copying someone is a form of flattery! You sound like a fun couple-we will also spend a lot of time at the casino. Husband is an avid Hard Rock weekend player (we live in Tampa area). Are the casino cards for Carnival aligned with any other casion (like in Vegas?). I'm wondering if we bring our other player cards would they be useful? I see your taking the Legend out later this year, wish we could have crossed paths with you on our cruise! Thanks again, it was an enlightening, informative post. Mary:)

WOW! Thanks for the great compliments! I bought the net at LTM and it is so big that it actually hangs way over the inside of the door. We did tape it on the inside and a couple of places on the outside just to stretch it out a bit. We usually decorate our door with various things, but had some things stolen before. Hubby really doesn't want me to decorate the door this time as we are near the elevators. I always bring the materials so we'll see.

We Live South of Sarasota and used to go up to Hard Rock, but since we try to cruise 3-4 times a year, we pretty much gave that up. Especially with how much we gamble on the ship.

We just love the Legend and really wanted to do our vow renewal on her and then it was announced that she would be going to Europe during the time we wanted to do this, so now we're looking at other ships.

Please feel free to "steal" my toes. I actually stole them from someone else on CC.

As far as the Players Club cards from other casinos, I do not believe they accept them. We never even thought to do that.

You will have a fantastic time on her. Tampa is a great port also.

Thanks again,

Michele

VEGAS BABY!

Gambling, free drinks, perks, sunshine.... I hear they even do weddings and vow renewals and stuff like that.

Seems right up your alley.... unless you are set on another cruise.

No Vegas is for a party only for the guys. I enjoy being with my wife. We are always together. Get free drinks on the ship!!!

Have you ever been to Vegas? Trust me, it's not just a party for the guys. If you haven't been you and the DW MUST go. :D There is something almost magical about the place that everyone should experience at least once - and knowing you two from your TR's, I guarantee you would be hooked after your first visit. ;)

Hubby has been a few times and he did love it, however, I just can't get on a plane, so maybe someday we will drive out there. It is definitely on our bucket list, but just not right now. Truly, I don't know why he wrote that Vegas was a party for guys and I asked him as he posted it. Trust me, I don't think he really wrote what he meant. Maybe just a strange moment. I really don't know.

Wow...just spent an hour + reading every page of this thread.

A couple of things...

1. GREAT review. I appreciate the time and effort that you put into it. Loved you posting all of the photos because I'm going on the Legend this Sunday and will be hitting all of the same ports (though I think we'll do a couple of different things than you and your husband did).

2. I am very sorry for your loss. I lost my mother to cancer last February, which is why I ended up going on a cruise last March. My parents used to love cruising and would go every couple of years. After mom died, my dad wanted to get away from the house so he booked a last-minute cruise and invited my girlfriend and I to go with him. Needless to say, a sad occasion turned into us being hooked on cruising.

So again, thanks for the entertainment and the review (both positive and negative).

Take care.

  • 1 month later...

Since alot has happened since we were on the Legend last, can anyone say some changes have happened for the better we hope.. We had recently sailed on the Liberty and they no longer have the funship glasses. Are they still available on the Legend or do we need to bring our own.

Thanks and happy sailing

I, too, have so enjoyed this Legend review!

This picture really made me laugh....I have bad knees, too, and I know just how he feels! Poor guy! I'm wondering about the walk in Roatan. Even with the ski-lift, is it a long, long walk? How about the beach....lots of walking there, too?

We finally arrived at TikiBeach and were told that our shuttle to go back would leave at 2pm. So we made our way to the water and found a couple of chairs. The beach was nice (but nothing compares, in our eyes, to Roatan) and the water was warm. We stayed on the beach, getting in and out of the water several times to cool off, for about an hour and then went and sat at the bar. They also had free WiFi so of course we checked our mail.

The walk is not that far it may take a total of 10 min. Please understand this was after drinking all day on top of bad knees.

THANK YOU FOR A FANTASTIC HONEST REVIEW!!!

My hubby and I will be on the Legend (our 2nd time on this ship) two weeks after the two of you. When you return from the Legend, would you please make sure to update us quickly on the casino service. We don't get to cruise as often as the two of you but do try and get in 1-2 a year. I enjoy the casino and love the Drinks on Us card they offer. It's nice to get free drinks when you are making donations too. We cruised on the Fascination in November and they didn't offer the card at 1500 points but the Casino hosts was nice and bought me a few anyway.

I look forward to hearing what you think of the Liberty with the limited smoking on there. I smoke and we usually travel with friends that smoke and have found a few ships have made it almost a crime to smoke anywhere. No flaming CC. Just my opinion here.

Michelle, thank you for taking the time for your honest opinion and I am glad that you addressed the problem. There is never an excuse for bad customer service.

I am sorry about your Mom but know she is always with you:)

Loved your review. We were on the Miracle (sister to the Legend) out of NYC in April. One question about the points accumulated in the casino. I had over 10,000 points and just go the $10 free play on my card. Did not hear from anyone of the Casino Staff when I reached 10,000. Should I contact the Player's Club (how to do it) and see if they can compensate me on my next cruise on the Victory in October?
