The Legend Review that I never thought would be posted

Michele,

I loved your review. Don't let some of the negative comments get to you. There will be people who have something mean to say on every thread. Your review kept me captivated, especially since I just sat here and read the entire 20 pages :)

I am truly sorry about your mother, it is obvious to everyone how much you cared about her.

I´d like to chime in and tell you how much I enjoyed your review.

We will be sailing on Carnival for the first time in 18 days - looking forward to comparing it to other cruise lines we have sailed.

Your review was balanced and fair and interesting. I think the bottom line is one of principles....if a "promise" was made , it should be kept. That which is advertised , should be delivered.

I am very a easy-to -please , glass half- full kind of person. I would have been irked too , especially since the casino is such a big part of your cruise experience and you had to keep seeing the bad attitude.

My sympathies for your loss.

Kim

we have already booked the Liberty for March.

I just got off the Liberty on Saturday. I was treated like royalty in the casino. Besides, the basket, water, and choc. strawberries a few times in my cabin, picture coupons, etc., we had a nice amount of $$$ and a drinks on us card waiting, and a really well-trained casino staff. Eva - the casino hostess, was fantastic, though she is going on vacation next week, and then moving to Destiny when she returns. I am hoping one of her workers moves up to casino host - any one of them will do a great job.

I had ordered a bottle of Captain Morgan to be delivered to our room after sail away but it was already there at 1:30pm, which was nice.

Our door - which I stole this idea from someone else on CC

Did you order your bottle of Captain Morgan before you sailed or once you were on board?? This is a great idea & we like to do that also. Checked the Carnival website & only saw wine being offered to order pre-cruise.;)

Just call the Bon Voyage Dept and tell them what you want to order. We ordered it before we sailed. If you search it on the Carnival thread, you should be able to pull up the current selection and price list for what is offered. It's not on their website. I later found out that you can also order it through room service once on board, so either way will work.

Thanks for the info. We are really looking forward to going in March, especially considering the fact that we have $1250 waiting for us at the cage :D

Enjoyed your review. I was on the 12/18/2011 Cruise

"Please go to the casino and tell Lorraine that Brad & Michele Love said hi! She really is wonderful! Have fun!"

I wish I read this review before my Xmass Cruise. Lorraine was great and I made a point of saying goodbye to her before I left. I think she is on the Legend till March and then will be on another Carnival Ship after her vacation.

I am so sorry to hear about your mom passing away.

You have my condolences too, It had to be a rough time for you. Thank you so much for explaining about the camera info. I have to admit I was confused to what a colloid was too.

I'm excited for my future daughter-in-law ....being this will be her first cruise....Nothing like those memories!! I do have to go back and read all of your review, becasue once i started to see the pics that is what I focused on.

Yes, hubby was on CC during his break and using his iPhone. Glad I saw that or there would have been many confused people. Thank you for your condolences.

Great review! Loved all the pictures. I understand the annoyance on not getting what you deserve. The reason cruise lines have loyalty programs and such is because you earn points or rewards. You were justified in all you did especially when you couldn't get help on board.

I am glad to hear that you are now getting the treatment you deserved in the first place.

After that, my brother and sister-in-law said they were going to Medusa’s Lair and we went to the casino. Hubby & I like to play 3 card poker and noticed that there was only 1 table in the casino. There used to be two 3 card poker tables. We asked why they took one table away and we were told that 3 card poker is not a money maker for the casino (in other words, the odds are better with the player). WOW! How is that for you?

Brad played some slots but mostly played blackjack and I played slots until around 12:30 and headed up to bed.

I was a dealer in a casino. That was my favorite game to deal. It gave the players the best odds and was a lot of fun because the players had a chance to win. The strategy is to stay on Q, 6, 4. The game we hated to deal was Let It Ride and Caribbean Stud. It was rare when anyone won anything. Those side bets really ate into any winnings and really amount to a sucker bet, but everyone feels bad if they don't and miss out on that payoff.

About the game being a loser is BS. If there are players and the house isn't making a profit they will change the payoff odds until it gets to the point where it is profitable.

My brother has been in Florida for quite some time. Where do you think you know him from?

Louisiana, so its probably not him. The guy I am thinknig of was armed security, and he was called Jim. I was almost excited. haha

We were on the Legend 1/1 sailing. Lorainne is hopefully now home safely in South Africa. She got off the ship the same day we did on 1/8 to head home. I believe (don't quote me) she won't be coming back. Needs to take care of some things at home. Her husband is on the Legend in the Casino as well (until March).

She was a true customer service person. Enjoyed the many many conversations we had with her.

Sadly grumpy Dave is still there lol.

I agree entirely! I wouldn't know what to do if the magician popped up at our table LOL. How odd for an elegant dining experience. In regards to the dress of other diners, I believe that you should dress for the occasion. It is supposed to be an elegant evening. We are booked for the first night of the cruise in the steakhouse and our understanding is that they expect us to be dressed for the venue. I emailed to ask and the suggestion was to wear what we plan to dine in upon embarkation in the event our luggage is not delivered in time. Or to bring our intended outfit in a carryon. I have heard of people being turned away from the steakhouse due to their manner of dress, but maybe those are just tall tales. LOL.

Not taking the sailing you did but I am enjoying your review. And, yes, I too, love the toes.

We actually did see a couple in jeans get turned away from the Steakhouse on the Legend - but that was in 2006. We ate there on our 25th anniversary and we were clearly told no jeans or flip flops when we made the reservation. The couple argued that they had no other pants but they didn't get in.

Hope grumpy Dave is gone by our next time on the Legend(sept). I hope he does not go on the Liberty in March.

Michele, thanks so much for your review. I really enjoyed it and your pics. I haven't spent much time on CC recently, partly because I don't have too much patience for the snarky comments anymore. People should be thankful cruisers like you take the time to post your experiences - and that you took the time to try to make things right on your cruise. It can only benefit us all. We don't spend a lot of time in the casino, but if we didn't get something that we expected (Platinum benefits, for example) and got the feeling Carnival didn't care, it would be disappointing. Customer service won't get any better if no one speaks up.

I'm sorry to hear about your Mom; I lost mine last year as well.

I find it interesting when I read about the food on Legend. We celebrated our 25th anniversary on that ship, and the dining experience was probably the least favorable out of all our Carnival cruises. And that was just over 5 years ago, so it's a shame they're still challenged in that area. The Steakhouse was fabulous, though.

Thanks again for a wonderful review.

Wow! Reading your review was the best entertainment I've ever had on CC!

Great job.

I usually sail Princess, but just booked a cruise on Carnival for the fall. Looking forward to trying Carnival again. Haven't sailed with her in over 20 years.

I gotta say, I really think you would like Princess too. Ya should give her a try.:D

Thank you so much for posting this. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. It also helped me decide to book the Legend. I had it narrowed down to the legend vs. the liberty but the legend just seems so nice and I want to experience it going under the bridge!

You are probably correct about Lorraine not coming back. It was killing her not to be with her kids. I'm sure she will be happier.
