The Legend Review that I never thought would be posted

Interesting story, and great pictures! Thanks for posting your review, and I'm glad you had a happy ending. (I enjoy "happy endings" too!:D)

Very interestingly, the "Beard" told us he was going to use our situation in future training events for the staff and some really good changes to Player's Club are being put into play. It has to do with the postcards/flyers that are sent out offering a certain $ amount as casino cash if booking a specific cruise on a specific date. If you frequent the casino and receive these, you will be very pleased with the change.

Forget about David the new kid on the block. I just don't understand why the casino manager could not fulfill your wish with the premium gift basket. It's just a ton of fruit and cheeses with a bottle of wine included. Why couldn't the casino manager just make a phone call to Michael over at the players club to confirm your perks. I've had the same problem and a call was all that was needed to get my comp cash at the casino cage. I'm glad you enjoyed your cruise and thank you for a great review!

We received a phone call from the "Beard" in Miami in charge of all Player's Club for the fleet. He apologized profusely and promised things would be different from now on. We sailed on the Sensation for Thanksgiving weekend and I can certainly tell you that things surely were different. The staff in the casino was expecting us and everyone (not just us) was treated fabulously. This is what we were used to that was not there on the Legend. Not only did we get one basket, but we actually got two baskets, 2 photo coupons, 4 bottles of water and a bottle of wine was brought to our table every night at dinner, not to mention that there was cash waiting for us at the cage. It was a fantastic cruise and we have already booked the Liberty for March. Our new friend has assured us that we will be well taken care of from here on in.

So there you have it....A Very Happy Ending!

So did getting all those freebies make it the fantastic cruise? I honestly can't imagine having a cruise being ruined because someone didn't give me freebies that I thought I deserved - but that's just me.

If you read the review, I said many times that no matter what, we always have a good time on a cruise. And that's all I'm going to say about that. Hope your Holidays are filled with joy, happiness and cruising in your future.

I am so sorry to hear about your mom passing away......My late wife passed away at 51 from cancer......It is such a terrible disease.....One day it can seem like they are responding well to treatments and then the next day they are gone......I am sorry for your loss.....

I really enjoyed your review......You write very well and I agree that if you do not receive something that was promised, that you have every right to complain......Most companies welcome complaints/feedback so that they can fix what may be broken.....

Thanks again for a wonderful review and again I as sorry for your loss....

Please read the entire thread. You will see that we had and always do have a wonderful time.. The freebies were and always have been something that we have recieved in the past. When you don't recieve the customer service that you are use to, you should bring it someones attention. For example, if you were use to some sort of service at a place that you go to alot, would you just leave it alone or say something? What if it kept happening? would just keep coing with no questions asked?

Just thoughts!!! Remember, we raised a stink so that the next folks would have what was deserved.

So why bring it up again ? We get it .

Geez!!! It's the OP's right to bring it up...it was in response to someone's comment.

Thank you carncruiser1964 for standing up for your beliefs and receiving what you deserve. Too many of us just say..."Oh, well....maybe it'll be different next time". It's like going into a restaurant and always getting a bread basket. Every other table gets one, but this once you don't. Do you say something or just do with out? If you deserve something, then ask for it! :D

I was just surfing CC and caught this review....so much drama! Not from the OP who was just stating her opinions but from other posters who can't stand to hear anything "bad" about Carnival.

I thought this was an outstanding review (from a writing style) and found it refreshing in it's honesty. I think she stated numerous times that she enjoyed the cruise and just had issues with a couple crewmembers. Personally, I would be upset if someone promised me something and didn't deliver. Its all about customer service.

I am sadden to hear about your Mom...I'm sure she's keeping a watchful eye on you.

I just came across your review this morning and found it so interesting that I read 14 pages before going out shopping and just returned home and read to the end.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write the review and for sharing your pictures with us. As I was reading along, I had the same thoughts as the 2 posters whose posts I quoted. I couldn't have said it better myself.

I don't frequent the casino much so was very surprised when I had previously read posts from others about all the gifts they receive from the Players/Carnival club ( whatever it's called...lol ). Some of the baskets are a better thank you than what we get as a Platinum gift...lol so obviously the gamblers are important to a cruise lines' bottom line and as such Carnival has a program to thank you and others.

To me and probably to you, the biggest frustration was probably the attitude of those whom you spoke to and were not willing to fix it on their own. I would have thought the casino manager would have taken care of it right away.

So sorry to hear about your mom. May peace be with you this holiday season.

While them not getting the fruit basket and free drink card may seem trivial to some, I know it would have ticked me off as well. Those items are perks that the OP earned through their loyalty to Carnival and by spending lots of their time and money in Carnival's casinos. If Carnival is going to offer perks to customers that meet certain criteria (players club, platinum, milestone, etc) then I think it is fair for the customers to expect that those perks be given to them without having to fight for them. For Carnival to drop the ball like that, then to be treated rudely by the staff when they tried to get the situation corrected, is absolutely wrong and a poor example of how a loyal customer should be treated.

To the OP - Great job on the review. I haven't sailed the Legend in several years, but I'll be on the Miracle (sister ship) in February, so it was still of interest to me.

Good luck to you and hubby on your next cruise. I'm sure your hubby will need a vacation after the busy holiday season. Online shoppers like me will be sure to keep him busy delivering presents!

I agree with you 100%. How many times has John Heald and others said" If there is a problem, bring it to our attention while on board. Don't wait until you go home and complain as sometimes the problem can be resolved on board and is too late after you have left the ship"

As you or Michele posted earlier, this was a learning item for them to use/add in their training

That would be fine. We just both love dressing up so I never have a problem getting Brad to wear a suit. If our luggage permitted, he would probably wear one ever night.

And he should , cuz he looks HOT in one! (Hope that wasn't rude to say!)

Hi Michele,

Just wanted to say thank you for an informative review about your time on the Legend. I am getting very excited for my cruise in 2 weeks on the Legend and just read all 20 pages of postings today. I am not a casino-goer, but just wanted to see what the ship and ports were like and you gave me an excellent perspective on both. It was nice to see you enjoying your time even with all of the events in the casino that didn't seem to be going your way. I am very much hoping that the food will be better on this cruise on January 1st, as my hubby and I enjoy having good meals on board!! I may take your suggestion and book the steakhouse one night as well, since it seemed very nice! Again, thank you for your honest review - I enjoyed reading it and learning more about you and your family, the ship, and the ports. All the best this holiday season!

The pictures are from the colloid family. I believe you can get it for around $150. Enjoy the cruise. We will be on the liberty in march. We might try the legend again in September.

Have fun

Kind of weird, but I did not post that last post. Unless hubby is online during his break. But, anyway, I have no idea what colloid is...the camera is a very simple Sony Cybershot 14.1 and you can find it just about anywhere for about $150.

Thank you everyone for the condolences. This is the first time I've personally been back on CC in two weeks.

You have my condolences too, It had to be a rough time for you. Thank you so much for explaining about the camera info. I have to admit I was confused to what a colloid was too.

I'm excited for my future daughter-in-law ....being this will be her first cruise....Nothing like those memories!! I do have to go back and read all of your review, becasue once i started to see the pics that is what I focused on.

Enjoyed your review. I was on the 12/18/2011 Cruise

"Please go to the casino and tell Lorraine that Brad & Michele Love said hi! She really is wonderful! Have fun!"

I wish I read this review before my Xmass Cruise. Lorraine was great and I made a point of saying goodbye to her before I left. I think she is on the Legend till March and then will be on another Carnival Ship after her vacation.

I am so sorry to hear about your mom passing away.
