rhcpchika1 Posted October 28, 2011 #301 Share Posted October 28, 2011 I too agree with everyone else... Things got way out or proportion and you definitely should not have been warned. Thanks for finishing the review! You and your DH are too adorable. Thanks for sharing!!
jakesnana Posted October 28, 2011 #302 Share Posted October 28, 2011 Hi Michele, This is the first time I have commented on this thread, but I wanted to thank you for a wonderfully written, well balanced review. Also, I appreciated it being in a larger font, so that I could easily find your posts. I really didn't have the time to read through 17 pages of posts, so it was easy to just run through real quick and find your posts. I think my DH and I have sailed with you and Brad before. You guys look VERY familiar. We are from central Florida also (I actually work in Altamonte Springs) and have sailed on Carnival 19 times, so I think our paths may have crossed. We are big fans of the casino also. It sounds like I spend about as much time in there as you do, albeit, not as much $$. My game of choice is BJ. Sorry your experience in the casino was sooo horrible. On our last cruise, the Liberty in July, we had a wonderful staff in the casino. The pit boss even bought me a drink 3-4 times during the week (believe me, or play doesn't warrant that kind of attention). I know you stated that you do not like change, however, if you're looking for a cruise line that will "appreciate" your contributions in the casino, you should check out NCL. DH and I sailed on the Pearl in Nov 2010, and they were WONDERFUL in the casino. As I stated earlier, we are not high rollers, but we were always treated great, regardless of what we spent, because we were "frequent flyers". Again, thanks for the great read. We<3WDW Posted October 28, 2011 #303 Share Posted October 28, 2011 I think you may benefit from the extended balcony because of having 3 of you. Just really wasn't worth the extra $ for the 2 of us. We've always felt the regular balcony was perfect. The view and the breeze was not blocked at all, so don't let that stop you. Thank you! I booked last night, so excited!!! nm lobos Posted October 28, 2011 #304 Share Posted October 28, 2011 I can scan it in and show you if you like. I don't remember off the top of my head. I was just hoping it was an apology with a free cruise certificate;) .... but if he didn't even know what it said, it was definitely not an apology. We cruise the Dream in March ... whenever I lose my hubby, I can find him in the casino:)
barbevrn Posted October 28, 2011 #305 Share Posted October 28, 2011 Thank you for sharing your great review. You did a fantastic job and gave a lot of folks something to really look forward to reading. Personally, I didn't see where you attacked anyone and thought you were very tactful in your responses. I've gotta say, you are one amazingly strong person. You put a lot of your heart and soul into one of these reviews. I know it is hard not to take the negative stuff personally. Thank you so much for coming back to finish. I commend you for your class and tact. If it is not too personal, How is your mom? Don't feel you need to answer if you don't wanna. I understand that you are trying to finish the review and not get side tracked again ;) Just know that some of understand what a gift your review is. cuyahoga11 Posted October 28, 2011 #307 Share Posted October 28, 2011 Hubby may add a thing or too later, but for me and this review, I am finally done. Thank you again for all the wonderful comments and support you gave. It really is hard to write a review and be totally honest and not catch some flack somewhere along the lines. I’ll leave you with some random pictures. Michele This is where I spent most of my time This seemed to be the only machine that payed out for people though.... In the first picture it looks like carnival room decorations and a basket on the dresser. Did you finally get your bon voyage package?

We never did get the items from Player's Club.

We cruise the Dream in March ... whenever I lose my hubby, I can find him in the casino:) That would have been a GREAT way to end this review. Unfortunately, that definitely didn't happen.;) It was more like "congratulations on hitting 7,000 points and giving us all your money, can't wait until you board again so we can take more of your money, blah, blah, blah... No, I'm just kidding. The letter was so ridiculous that I truly would have to read it again to tell you what it said.

Thank you for your kind comments and your concern for my mom. She was diagnosed in April with a rare form of Liver Bile Duct Cancer and they didn't think she would last 3 months. Due to some miracle, she got stronger and stronger and was able to go to Moffitt to become involved in a clinical study and had radiation treatment the week of our cruise. Right now she is very tired all the time, but she's here. We just have to get her to eat more during the day to get her strength back. The surgeons feel if she does well, it could give her 3-5 years! The man upstairs is truly wonderful! Thanks again for your concern.

We never did get the items from Player's Club. Well that really sucks. I did learn something interesting last month on my Fantasy cruse. When I was waiting for the paperwork to be done on a jackpot I won, I was talking with the casino manager about my gifts from the casino. She informed me that it is the manager not the host that sends them.
MsTabbyKats Posted October 28, 2011 #315 Share Posted October 28, 2011 This thread is anti-climactic. I was thinking that we were going to find out some horrible thing that was done to you in the casino. I'm not bashing you or flaming you, I'm just saying.....If you are a gambler and you still don't understand....then I got nothin. My husband thinks I am! I think of it as "entertainment"...I set a budget that would be less than if I went to see a show and had a meal out. :) I generally go to a casino...planning to lose $100 every week to the slots. (But sometimes I win.......or come home with something) On a cruise I don't gamble very much...for 2 reasons....1)my local casino is about 1000 times the size of a ship's casino and 2)my money gets gobbled up very fast So, am I a gambler? (BTW...I got married in Las Vegas...now that was a gamble!)

(BTW...I got married in Las Vegas...now that was a gamble!) I'm exactly the same way. I gamble very small amounts (a little more than $100 a week, though..lol) and when it's gone, I'm done. But I definitely have friends and family who are much more hard-core... and if there's one thing that I 'get' from hanging out with them....if you're going to drop copius amounts of green in the casino, the VERY LEAST the casino could do (to keep you dropping said copius amounts of green) is show you that they care and they appreciate you. Sometimes, that's the only thing that keeps you wanting to come back.

I can see if I was dropping a lot of money in the Casino I'd want some perks .
cruising3times Posted October 28, 2011 #322 Share Posted October 28, 2011 Great review, I printed a pic of your toes and will take it with me Friday for my pedicure. Leaving on the Freedom in 2 days!! I am going to do this too for my Legend cruise in January, they are so cute. My daughter and I did our toes for WDW to look like MM, I never thought of doing it for the cruise. Great review and great idea for pedicure. Thank you. And you are correct....it's that little bit that keeps you coming back (Gee...I get a few dollars every month from my local place) BUT....I was expecting DRAMA....especially because OP told us about "panic and anxiety". She should call "whomever"....and tell them that if she isn't compensated in some way....she'll go on another line!!!! I bet they will compensate her. dceeeee Posted October 28, 2011 #324 Share Posted October 28, 2011 Thanks, Michelle, for the nice and straight-forward review. I don't gamble and never knew you got perks, but can certainly see why you SHOULD! It was a nice little glimpse into life in that part of the ship.:D maybe I'll consider gambling more in the future! I too, admire how you kept your cool throughout this review. I just got back from my last cruise (Miracle) on Oct 13, and was planning to write a review, but not so sure now, since I tend to be somewhat sensitive too. I also admire OKgirl for coming back with her apology, I have said stuff that got misconstrued before, so I know how easily it can happen. I see nothing wrong with contacting John Heald. It looks like that was what it took...although it didn't seem to help YOU much...it may help keep future cruisers from experiencing what you did. Every future cruiser on that ship who gambles should be THANKING you! I LOVE your toenails...and the great relationship you have with your husband. Cherish him!;)
WorkedOnShips Posted October 28, 2011 #325 Share Posted October 28, 2011 I've enjoyed reading your review over the past few days, Thank You! All I know is.... There are going to be loads of CARNIVAL PAINTED TOENAILS on future cruises. I believe you've started a trend. ;)
