The Legend Review that I never thought would be posted

After breakfast, my stomach started acting up again so I laid on a lounge chair by the pool until Jimmy & Lillian found us. I was ready to go by that time so we said our good-byes and made our way down stairs to leave the ship. There were plenty of porters around so we asked one for some help and he happily loaded his dolly with our luggage and brought it to the parking garage, which is where our car was. We were on our way home by 9:45 and in our driveway by 11am.

First and foremost – No matter what happens on a cruise, we always make sure we have a good time and we did. That being said, there were some obvious issues on this trip for us. This doesn’t mean it will happen to all and quite frankly, chances are it won’t.

We love the Port of Tampa and find the embarkation/debarkation process always very smooth.

Our Cabin Steward was wonderful – we gave him the internet card and also gave him some of the over abundance of chocolate covered strawberries that had been sent to us throughout the week.

The servers in the MDR were good, but not great. One night we had a bottle of wine that needed to be opened and it sat on the table for 15 minutes, even after Brad asked for it to be opened. We know they are busy so we never make a big issue about things like this.

The language barrier can be a bit trying at times, but we actually had one incident in the MDR that we all got a really good laugh about. Every night, after dinner, Brad would always order either a cappuccino or an espresso. The last night he ordered a cappuccino and the server brought him the cappuccino pie that we didn’t even notice was on the dessert menu that night. It was funny. We all laughed and the server corrected it right away, although, Brad kept and ate the pie.

I had over 9,000 points that had been accumulated in the casino and at 7,000 points David brought me a letter in an envelope. I asked him what it said and he said he didn’t know but he was supposed to give it to anyone that reached at least 7,000 points. I opened it and immediately noticed that the letter was from DAVID!!!! He did not know what a letter said that was signed by him?

Very, very, very disappointed that not one person said thank you or anything the last night in the casino. Brad mostly played BJ but still had over 5,000 points at the end. That and my points should have warranted at the very least, a thank you. Believe me, I 'm sure "someone" couldn't wait for us to leave because of the 'stink" we made, but even still, it just wasn't the right thing to do.

Finally, the ship, itself, we love. However, we are looking at other cruise lines right now, just so we might be able to compare. We’ve always been big Carnival cheerleaders, so only time will tell. Although, truth be told, chances are, we will book our next 4 for next year with Carnival. We REALLY hate change.

whoo boy- we were the same way. And I wanted to try Princess but then kept reading its full of old people and nothing to do at night- but honey said lets try it and form our own opinion. I can only say WOW.

It was all that plus some. For looking at a wow factor- we were truly wow'ed from moment one.

Princess is a tad more then carnival-- thats why Iam not platiunum on carnival but once in a while to break up the monotony of carnival Princess will come calling.

We booked on the Ruby Princess for Feb 2013 and Carnival Legend for January 2012.

I am sooooorrrrryyy and sad.............I never intended my post to be snarky............

I couldn't get back on here before now............and I really was just trying to be cheaky..........

I've enjoyed this review immensly and always felt there was a real mis-read of your intentions. It seemed just as likely you were just pickin, as we like to say down here.

You're a class act for coming back and making a genuine apology for something you never meant to happen. It's a lesson to all of us.

Have a great trip.

I agree and had a feeling she did not mean it how it came across and that is why I told someone they were rude.

When we got home, we called Player’s Club and spoke with Michael. He was shocked and had no idea how this could have happened and promised to make up for it on our next cruise. I gave him the code that was on the letter from David and he said that entitled me to $100 at the cage (which will be on the next 7 day cruise, as I did not want it on the 3 day next month). I’d love to tell you what I really think about that $100….

The whole point to this story was that all we wanted was what we should have received and never expected the horrible attitude and very bad customer service. Someone had asked why we didn’t contact someone on the ship to help us. That is exactly what we did do by talking to Mustafa. We got an apology, but the issue was not corrected. The strange thing was that even after speaking with WeeJimmy and the Hotel Director, the issue was not corrected.

Brad and I actually laugh about it now thinking that it all started because we didn’t get the items from Player’s Club and Brad not getting the Drink Card (until he earned it of course). I guess, now, it seems kind of silly, but you all have to remember the amount of points we had. That is a good reflection of just how much time and money we spend in the casino. So if we have “earned” something, we should have gotten it. When they were notified that it never came, someone should have stepped up and taken care of it. This was never done.

Hubby may add a thing or too later, but for me and this review, I am finally done. Thank you again for all the wonderful comments and support you gave. It really is hard to write a review and be totally honest and not catch some flack somewhere along the lines.

I’ll leave you with some random pictures.

When the announcement was made for the drill, we left our drinks in our room as requested and made our way to our Muster Station. There, right in the front row, was a man holding a can of beer and no one said a word. We kind of laughed it off but still wondered about the enforcement of rules.

Oh, you can't d take your drink to muster? Now I wonder if I ever had one in my hand, as I don't hear, and no one ever told me....oops:eek:

Switching it with a Royal Caribbean cruise might be all you need. Royal is very similar to Carnival in many ways, but in others very different. Longer than 3 day cruises is much different experience than say a 5 day cruise. I've only been on two Royal cruises with the remainder being Carnival. With that said I enjoyed my RCCL cruises and will no doubt cruise them again, but at the moment still prefer Carnival. I am planning on cruising Freedom of the seas one of these years.

My 3rd cruise this year is fast approaching in 16 days with all three of this years cruises with Carnival. On my last cruise in August on the Inspiration had a slight issue with the Casino compared to the cruise I was on the end of March. On my March cruise when I arrived to my room I had a welcome and thank you from casino with free photo coupons and a few other things. My two prior cruises last October and then November I donated quite a bit to the casino. When I didn't see anything from casino about my past donations when sailing in August I asked at the casino what was up. They did send my room some chocolate covered strawberry's and a hand written thank you on the back of a business card. Guess I didn't donate enough during that March cruise. During August we did play quite a bit in the casino, but my guess is not enough for them to notice for this next cruise in 16 days. Time will tell and I'm not going to waste my time to email them that I have an upcoming cruise. We shouldn't have to do that.

Now for planning out the 2012 cruises. I'm thinking 2 Carnival and 1 Royal.
