Welcome back Andrew! So glad to hear you and Ed had such a wonderful time. Maybe we can see you when Phil visits in January. Miss you!

We'd love that! Let us know.

Joe, happy cruising! We saw Andy and Sheila a few times during the cruise, but not as often as we'd have liked.

Andrew

Can you please give me a hint as to the price of wine bottles. Since no wine packages are available for this ship we are trying to figure out if we should get a all inclusive beverages package or no? Thank you in advance for your help.

Just returned from 10/22 Silhouette TA crossing. Have been in 16 cruises over the years. Third cruise on Celebrity. In my opinion, most extensive wine list I've seen. But alas, most expensive wine list so far. 98% of wine by bottles are $40 plus. Wine by glass $7-15. Again, not complaning, just answering the question asked. Thanks

Except maybe the shower head is different??

We are booked on the Silhouette on Nov 30 sailing from NJ to the carribean. Glad to hear that everyone enjoyed the ship. Hope our sailing will not be a rough one. Have sailed on other cruise lines but never Celebrity.

We arrived home yesterday after the 10/22 TA from Civitivecchia and thought I would briefly describe my opinions about the ship. First off, it is a beautiful vessel with a lot going for it. The cabins (we had a C1) are spacious and well appointed. The bathrooms are the largest non-suite that I have seen on any ship. The food was outrageously wonderful both in the MDR and in the specialty restaurants. The staff went out of their way to ensure that we were well taken care of. The only real complaints - other than the weather which at times was dreadful - relate to the design of the ship. There are simply not enough elevators for a ship of this size. They need two more in each elevator bank to accomodate the usage. Also the game room was much to small. We were never able to get a table at any time. There are only about a half-dozen tables for a 2800 passenger ship. Internet service was sporadic and the ILounge staff were at best semi-competent. They kept saying that the service was bad because it was a TA but we were on the Summit from San Juan to Barcelona two years ago and never had a serious internet issue. The ship creaked and rattled much more than any other that I have ever been on, and I have cruised more than a dozen times. Overall it was a good experience but now that we have done a TA each way I don't think we will do one again.

Good to hear your comment on the ship. Husband & I are sailing on Nov. 30 out of Bayonne,NJ. to Carribbean. How was the indoor pool? Looking forward to using it during our 3 days at sea.

Good morning, we are considering a Silouhette cruise in May in the Adriatic. I have been looking over the different beverage packages that some CC'ers have posted. I didn't realize that it could be different for each ship....should I not consider these lists when trying to decide if we want a package? We've only been on one other X before and I think it was before packages were offered so I appreciate any advice! Thanks :)

I've never been a fan of this concept. Given the pricing, I'd take have to drink a lot more than I do to make this worthwhile.(I'm NOT a teetotaller! ) With drinks averaging $10.00 with tip, I still don't think I'd always drink that much each day of the cruise. Of course, the Elite cocktail hour helped! :D

Re: the question regarding the inside pool. The pool and lukewarm hottubs were pleasant enough. Nice area to lay back and read. Unfortunately on the TA when we got into the Atlantic they had to drain both of the pools because of very high winds and waves. Hopefully on your cruise the seas will be calm, they will warm up the hottubs and keep the pools filled with water.

How was the casino? I understand that there is a surcharge when buying chips unless one registers before the trip? Also how were the shows? Been on other ships but never on Celebrity.

I was on Deck 3 on the TA crossing of the Silhouette. There were a few times the wave would slap the window or water would spray on the window but it was never scary. My window was never underwater! I never got seasick. The Captain slowed down and extended the stabilizers and except for some side to side motion all was well.

We are booked on her TA next year. After getting off Azamara (smaller ship), we wonder if we will be disappointed, although assume there is more to do. We were on a ship where everyone greeted us by name.

Was there a lot of "selling"? I know the Lawn Club costs extra, but how did that work with the winds and being at sea? We traveled this summer from Boston to Amsterdam on Maasdam and it was cold and rainy in July/August.

How did the other venues work such as the Art Studio, etc.? Were there any lecturers onboard the TA? I often wonder if there is fewer staff since the per diem is cheaper. Any feedback will be great. Thanks.

Was that for most of the trip?

We are sailing Nov 30 ..also on deck3. I tend to get seasick and use the patch. Your statment about the stabilizers is very encouraging. On some ships the captain is anxious to make time so they dont extend the stabilizers unless its in the evening when the show is on so the dancers have a level stage.

Having been on S-Class a few times and just back from my first Azamara cruise in September it's hard to say whether you'll be disappointed or not because it depends upon your likes and dislikes. Silhouette will have the "wow" factor. The S-Class are beautiful ships. Personally I love the Lawn Club on the S-Class and missed that, but I love the loungers on Azamara. Very comfortable. If you are in an ordinary inside/outside/balcony cabin then those on S-Class are larger and better (especially the bathroom), but I found the cabins and especially beds very comfortable on Azamara. The food on Azamara I thought better than Celebrity, especially comparing the MDR food. Service was more attentive on Azamara (they have a higher crew to passenger ratio I think) and personal as it will be on a smaller ship

In summary I like both for different reasons and am happy booking either. I booked Azamara whilst onboard and am on Quest next week and really looking forward to it.

Meant to say with the free wine with meals I found it difficult to run up a tab and clear my OBC on Azamara. Ended up having a spa treatment. Never had that problem on Celebrity!

We were also on the Oct22-Nov2 TA on Silly-Wet.

The ship itself was very good. Meals and accommodations excellent.

Cruise director a bit full of himself...does that go with the job?

The Captain gave an excellent presentation about marine navigation, in which he explained the decision process for altering course to minimize the effects of nearby storms.

At the end, he was specifically asked whether this change would result in a late arrival in NJ - he answered, clearly, NO.

As it turned out, we docked over 5 hours late - so much for route planning!

And the result of this was that we had to wait in our staging area for over three and a half hours. During all that time, not one Celebrity staff member ever offered to bring even water, let alone any other refreshment. That's just a disgusting level of incompetence!

Furthermore, you couldn't find an officer anywhere, for love or money!

It gave the very clear message that Celebrity considered it had milked its guests of all the money it could get, and now we were just so much baggage to be off loaded when possible.

Eventually we did get off, and were bussed to the baggage "terminal" - this is a "new" port facility in New Jersey??? It looks like a movie set for 19th century Ellis Island! What on earth are Celebrity thinking of?

Amazing how Celebrity managed to ruin, over several hours, an otherwise very good cruise. And no word from Celebrity - despite their promise to respond within 48 hours...yet another promise broken!

Husband & I are sailing from Bayonne Nov. 30. You sound disappointed in Celebrity ....My travel agent just returned from the ship and she said it was just beautiful and the accomodations were great. Sorry you had a bad ending. Somewhere in the brochure it mentioned that there were bathrobes issued in the cabins. Is that true? On all cruises we've experienced everything is for sale on aboard....afterall its a business and they are out to make money. But all in all cruising is a great deal for the money.

Hi Joygal

Yep, the Aqua Class rooms come with "special fabric" robes, and multi thread towels (the bath towels are 7 feet long!!!), and a bunch of pillows. If you don't have an Aqua Class you'll have to do with "regular thread" robes.

We were on the TA and the disembarking fiasco was awful...But

You will love cruising on the Silhouette

Great ship

Great crew

Try to do Qsine once on your cruise....bring friends...and be very hungry:)

Thanks for the reply. Guess we'll have to do with regular thread robes...lol ..What is Qsine? Is that the one where you share the different food?
