Capnpugwash is making his last crossing of 2011 on QM2.

Capnpugwash - May I add my own sincere thanks for your daily updates. At the beginning of your journey, I was happy to note that the famous 'Capnpugwash' was actually sailing with us on our first QM2 voyage on 24 June - alas, that is no longer the case, but your daily postings have indeed helped whet the appetite for our first transatlantic journey. I will be checking the Cunard boards more regularly in future, in case you manage to "fit another TA in" before July. Thank you once again for posting about your experiences, together with a laugh along the way.

Brilliant reports Jim, thank you for sharing once again, l do so enjoy reading about your time on board.

Haven't been on board myself for a wee while now but most certainly re-thinking about another voyage soon.

Thanks

Judy

Hi Jim, really looking forward to your next cruise, we are going on Arcadia ourselves next October and it would be nice to hear what it is like from an expert cruiser such as yourself. Have you booked a balcony cabin, we have a DB grade booked on deck 6, just hope we have made the right choice of ship and cabin, although I must admit having only done one previous cruise on the Queen Vic she is going to be hard to match, best holiday we have ever had. Have sailed on her before and quite like her, I think that we have a window cabin on deck 6 as well. I will let you know how it all goes.

  • 3 weeks later...

There is another group from RADA on board and some Juilliard School graduates, the Juilliard people are becoming old hands on this ship which you can tell as they are now joining the fashion and hawking DVDs and CDs of their various performances to all and sundry. I know that I keep going on about this unpleasantly blatant commercialism but it really cheapens the whole experience in my opinion. Maybe these youngsters aren’t to blame because it seems that everyone who comes on here to lecture or perform does exactly the same; if it isn’t a DVD, it is a book!

More later

personally I dont have a problem with the artists they have bought on mentioning at the end of a performance that they have a cd available.

musicians like the jazz trio & the juilliard graduates arnt getting record label advances, they arnt going to be having no.1 albums, & so they have to earn their living by doing multiple things.
