Our Magic cruise, 12/4/11

Pier Runners....one of my favorites at the end of the day on days we are in port. It is the people that are not back on the boat on time. As it gets close to time to leave that port, they will announce a list of names(if anyone is not back on the boat yet). Those will be the pier runners. As they come running to get on the boat that is about to leave them people hang over the side and holler at them to RUN!!! or HURRY!!! and they start running because they think they are going to get left.....Fun to watch.

It sure can be fun to watch! LOL!

:D Bahahahah

Funny. I can't wait.

On mine & my mom's cruise this last September, we got to watch some for the ship next to us in port. Lots of hooting & hollering. LOL

Thanks for the in depth review and great Photos. It brings back fond memories of our (famous) Trans Atlantic Crossing from Barcelona to Galveston!

Your welcome & Thank-you! Some day, I'd like to do a TA.

great shots

Thanks!!

Hello again K.

Enjoying your review and your posts on FB.

Do they have trays at the buffet on the Magic?

Do you Tweet?

Do you think John Heald would agree to post the recipe for that weird snack they have in the Bull Frog Bar? Do you think they boil the peas and then maybe bake them? What is the seasoning on them?It looks like these are used in Indian dishes from what I just saw briefly on Google.

Hey J! Thanks girl! No trays. Nope, I don't tweet, haven't tried that one yet, LOL! I have no idea, he might post it. We didn't ask too many questions about them as we were feeling pretty good. LOL. :o

We use gandules in Puerto Rican Rice. They are tasty, somewhat the consistency and flavor of a black eyed pea crossed with a pinto bean.

Very cool!

After we were done with our little snack, we headed back to the cabin & called it a night.

Next morning, was Grand Cayman. We got up & went to the MDR for our normal breakfast menu. LOL. Then back to the cabin to hang out on the balcony to snap pictures as we arrived.

The tender process was not too bad or too long for us, but we did wait & not head towards tender right away as we didn't have an excursion planned.

For Grand Caymen, we had planned to snorkel there originally, on our own, but since I was still a little nervous, we decided just to walk around for awhile. GC is very pretty & we enjoyed popping into the shops to look & buy a few souviners. (sp?) It turned out to be perfect, since I was still feeling the effects from the drinking the night before, LOL.

A few more pics before heading back to the ship.

I don't remember what time we headed back, but it was around lunch time. There was no line for the tender & we didn't have to wait long for us to leave the pier. So a breeze getting back. We headed back to the cabin to drop off our goodies we had gotten & then went up to the lido deck to get a burger for lunch.

After lunch, we went back to the cabin & took about a 2 hour nap. Aaaahhh. LOL. We then enjoyed some balcony time & got ready for sail away & then dinner.

We headed to dinner a little before 6. For appetizer, we both had the potato soup. Yum!

DSC_0472.jpg

DH had the flat iron steak & I ordered the fried shrimp with some white rice.

That's as far as I made it for dinner that night. I still had a pounding headache, LOL. I'm serious when I say I don't drink much, so the night before sure gave me a hangover. DH stayed to finish his dinner, I know he had WCMC. Our waiter gave him my rice to bring back to the cabin for me to finish eating. So....I missed the dancing for the night. I went back to the cabin & took some more medicine & just rested until he came back, which was about 30 minutes.

Tonight's towel animal.

About 8:30 I was feeling a little better, so we headed to go to the photo area to pick out some pictures. And just to sit & people watch for awhile & listen to the music.

This are in the photo area, makes it nice to have a place to sit & look at all your pictures while deciding.

We loved the lights that were mainly in the atrium area. They changed colors & flashed in different ways.

I then told hubby we needed to go back by the cabin. I made up something, but I was really trying to see if what I had ordered ahead of time through the Bon Voyage Dept had been delivered. Well, it had not, so I had to explain to him we needed to go back down to deck 4 & I needed to speak with Guest Services. I took my paper with me to show what I had ordered. (A Happy Anniversary cake)

Sorry to stop here for tonight, but it's late & I'm exhausted & not feeling well. The next part is kind of lengthy, so I will complete that part 1st thing tomorrow morning after getting the kids to school.

Yes, the cake is yummy! And yes, I do remember the name. Is that you? Or someone with your group? <If you don't mind me asking. :)>

Islandlittleleague- I also meant to say Congrats on the 30 yrs!

What's this late ight buffet? What time was it and what did they have? I don't remember them having one in the conquest last year but then again I was at the casino oblivious to everything else going on.

It's like a Mexican buffet & I think it started at 11:30 p.m. I know when we were on the Conquest Oct. 2010 that they had one too. ;)

So, off to Guest Services we went. Since hubby had figured out that I was expecting something, but he didn't know what, he sat off to the side in the atrium while I was at the GS desk. I explained that I had ordered a Happy Anniversary cake to be delivered that night, online several weeks before the cruise, but that it had not been delivered. He looked at my printout & contacted the ones that handle the cakes. They asked if I still wanted the cake that night or did I just want to get it the next day. I said that night since it was for our anniversary & it didn't appear that it would take long.

So, I thanked them for their help & we headed back to the cabin to wait. Well, after about 1/2 an hour, the phone rang & hubby answered it & they explained the cake was being completed (So he found out, LOL) & would be delivered to our cabin in about another 30 minutes. Okay, so it was now about 11:00 p.m. We were starting to get sleepy, but figured it wouldn't be much longer.

Well, that 30 minutes turned into an hour & then there was a knock on the door. Room service, leaving us a tray with silverware & plates. Okay, LOL. Then 15 minutes later, about 12:15 a.m., the cake was delivered, with more plates & silverware. LOL. We weren't upset or anything, but it turns out they had to make the cake & then decorate it & that they mis-understood when it was to be delivered orignally, they thought to the dining room. No problem, it's all okay. However, had we realized it would be that long, we would have waited as we were so sleepy. LOL!

So, at about 12:30 at night, we had some of our anniversary cake & DH gave me a very sweet card. The cake was SO yummy!!!!

Next up, Montego Bay, Jamaica. It was neat to us to be in Jamaica the day after our Anniversary, because when we married & took our honeymoon, it was in Ocho Rios. But we had flown in to Montego Bay. We had decided we would just sleep in since we weren't doing any excursions & were just planning on walking around the shopping area right at the port. So, we slept in & ordered room service the night before. One nice neat new feature is that you can order room service through the TV, but you can also still hang the slip outside your door.

We docked starboard side. Views from our balcony:

We then got off the ship & went around the shop to pick up shirts for the boys & a dress for our daughter & Rum for the adults. ;) After about an hour & a half or two, when then got back on. We had to check the alcohol in at the table, there was not a line at the time. We then went to check in & leave a message for the kids & then have lunch. Lido burgers again.

There were mini Fun Hub areas too. We would stop at the one on the Lido deck between the pool area & the atrium area.

Quite inefficient of them!

You are very good natured about this; I sure hope you complained. I would have.

Thank you so, so much for this review... the pictures are gorgeous and your storytelling is wonderful! We will be sailing on the Magic this Sunday (so excited!) with your same itinerary, as opposed to the reverse course. I was wondering if you have had a chance to scan the Fun Times and, if so, could post or email them? If not, I completely understand, but just thought I would ask! ;) Congrats on y'alls anniversary... so glad you had such an awesome trip!!

Thanks J. No, I didn't complain. I did think about stopping by GS the next day to just at least let them know that it ended up being much longer, but I forgot & then I figured out the confusion the Jamaica day. I'll explain shortly. :)

Awww, Thanks so much! OMGosh, can I go with you Sunday? LOL! I can't wait to get back on the Magic in August! Have a blast! As for the Fun Times, I haven't scanned them, but let me try to do that tomorrow, I'll be going by my Mom's house anyways. If I can get them for you & will be glad to email them to you. :)

Haha I know what you mean about wanting to jump right back on a cruise... I am already a little sad about knowing I'll have to wait for my next one after this one!

Thanks, and your welcome. I will try, but I know if I don't get a chance to tomorrow, then I won't before you leave because my daughter has dance competition tomorrow night & all day Saturday. :) Once competition season is over, it's then swim team season, I so need a cruise. ;) LOL! And it does get a little sad thinking about that, I know what you mean.
