I have been lurking for awhile reading your review. I Don't make it over to the carnival board often but your review has me hooked. Such a great review! Also love the photos. I am into photography as a hobby and I wish I could get shots like yours. You are very talented! Thanks for sharing with all of us!

But you can get shots like mine! I didn't just start out this awesome. lol :-) Practice makes perfect (well not perfect but less of the suck factor for sure!)

I'd like to recommend a book that is really the only book I ever read that helped me. It's called "Understanding Exposure". This book delves into the most important part of a photo : the light. After that, it's all practice, understanding your lenses, your subject material, your composition, your ability to look at a scene and wonder "what shot will everyone else take?" and then step back and take a different one. Photoshop helps and it took me nearly 3 years to get to a place where I truly felt like I understood the program and it's complex variety of capabilities.

Thanks for crossing over here just to comment on my thread. I appreciate it!

Thanks so much for that link! I checked it out and their entry fees are fairly reasonable. I can't figure out though whether or not they're a print publication or just digital. It's a bummer that it appears you don't get print publication if you're a winner (albeit some sweet vacation rewards.).

I think my pier shot would be worthy of submitting. I'll have to look through all of my images and decide. I have a couple great ones from my last cruise too!

Funny! Lol. You and DW both look very nice on your pictures, and the one of you at the Chefs Table is very nice. This young lady is a wonderful photographer.

Thank you for saying so, but it really is this young lady that made us look so good! :)

Thank you for the beautiful picture review, I will be on the Dream at the end of January and although I'm not much of a health person (this is my 10th cruise and have yet to see the spa), after your review I am thinking that I want the spa package. I can see using that pool and those heat loungers everyday also. Especially if it makes my old wrinkles skin feel soft and wonderful :)

Thank you again for taking the time to do this - really am enjoying your review.

Thoroughly enjoying your review and FABULOUS photos! You are a VERY talented women!

We don't sail on Dream until Oct 2012 for the 2nd time in a cove balcony. My partner would never do the spa thing but I would, I will have to investigate if they would sell a "single pass". I always use the "free" stuff at the spa, like the steam sauna etc. Last cruise on the Dream a fellow cruiser had the spa pass and she said it was always packed.

We sail Jan 8th on Legend and I just love reading reviews of any Carnival ship, it keeps the juices flowing.

Looking forward to reading more of your review after you return from Universal!

Susan

A seven day VIP spa pass on the Dream was $150

Is this something you can get prior to boarding or do you have to get the passes once onboard?

This is one of the most thought out reviews I've read and the pictures are perfect. Thank you.

My wife and I recently got a new camera body. It had been a while and we are really excited about it. I just finished reading a Digital Photography book series written by Scott Kelby. I am definitely gonna pick up the book you suggested. Thanks!

Just where are you, Missy? (visualize me standing at the door, tapping my foot, and looking at my watch) :D

I have been checking for your next installment, and you are nowhere to be found. One would think you have nothing to do, ie: work, birthday celebration, living your life, etc. Don't LET me have to come down there, because it won't be pretty. Lol.

We fans are missing your review, and hate to see it end, but all good things do come to an end. Hurry back for the rest. I am sure i am not alone in this. You have done a fantastic job. Thanks so much.

So sorry! Those computer problems I had last week really put me behind on work and then we already had plans for New Years day and Latanyas birthday which put me even more behind on work. I can't continue the review without choosing photos AND semi-editing them from Roatan. So, I need a break in work in order to do that. I promise I'll try to do another post soon even if it's only a portion of a day. :-)

Sorry that you are having computer problems. You do what you have to do, and we will just have to wait. :(

Ps..I just had to joke with you about coming back. :)

The photographs are so breath-taking, and each is better than the last.

I agree that the pier picture should be entered in that contest.

So, while everyone is waiting, I'd love to know what your favorite part of the review has been so far and even your favorite 1 or 2 photos. I am flattered that so many people love the pictures as a whole but would love to know which ones speak to you and why! :-)

My favorite photos are of the children, from the back of the trucks to the swimming hole to the "playas" and their motorcycle. The fact that they all smiled. I loved all your food porn. I loved all your beach scenes of the water and piers and mangroves.

We were on the Dream on the eastern run. You really need to go that route. We took a private tour in St. Maartin and the haves and have nots were very bracing to see. Beautiful opportunities for your camera "eye".

We could not understand how anyone could not enjoy that ship. Beautiful from every point.

Thanks for sharing.
