cruisingbarb Posted December 29, 2011 #1 Share Posted December 29, 2011 I need a hotel for three nights precruise and am hoping to keep it under $150 a night--preferably more like $125-140 (including taxes and I don't want to book anything that's non-refundable). So far, I've looked at Hotel Regencia Colon, Hotel Duc de la Victoria, and Hotel Curious--all of which are coming in at my high end of $150. Any suggestions for something a little more in our price range without going to a hostal? We want to stay south of Catalunya, near the Rambles and/or in the Barri Gotic section. Dunmore2 Posted December 30, 2011 #2 Share Posted December 30, 2011 We booked at Hotel Atlantis for just over 100€, including taxes and breakfast. Reviews are mostly good. I guess we will see in April. We have stayed at Hotel Regina, but their rates have increased considerably. It was nice, clean, quiet, and had a safe in the room. Rare cruisemom42 Posted December 30, 2011 #4 Share Posted December 30, 2011 Hotel rates can vary greatly depending on the time of year. Since you don't give any dates, it's hard to tell what would be in your budget. One good way to look for hotels by price range is to use www.venere.com. One of the search parameters you can select is cost per night. They also feature reviews of the hotels and/or you can cross-check them on Tripadvisor. quercus alba Posted December 30, 2011 #5 Share Posted December 30, 2011 Regencia Colon is worth it, IMHO. Nice location and helpful staff.
cruisingbarb Posted December 30, 2011 Author #6 Share Posted December 30, 2011 Thanks for the replies. Right now HOtel Regencia Colon is at the top end of my budget but I'll keep an eye on the rates. FYI: We sail Sept. 2 on the Ocean Barcelona to Athens.
4774Papa Posted December 31, 2011 #7 Share Posted December 31, 2011 We found a great hotel for 69Euros a night on the venere website. Check it out. You should have no problem finding a hotel for 115Euros per night.

4774Papa Posted January 1, 2012 #9 Share Posted January 1, 2012 What hotel did you book? We stayed at the Hotel Astoria, which is a 5 minute walk from the Diagonal Metro stop.
40yearcruiser Posted January 2, 2012 #10 Share Posted January 2, 2012 We are booked at the Hotel Continental before our TA cruise in Nov. 2012. We haven't been there, but it was recommended by friends who stayed there a couple months ago precruise. The rates were from 95 to 115 euro per night. It is on the Ramblas near Plaza Catalunya. OnWeGo Posted January 2, 2012 #11 Share Posted January 2, 2012 We are booked at Hotel Curious in June. Our rate is about 113 Euro per night. We got a 10% discount for early booking and staying minimum 3 nights.
doodlefan Posted January 3, 2012 #12 Share Posted January 3, 2012 I second Hotel Continental. We stayed there last May. It's literally around the corner from Placa Cataluyna and is at the top of Las Ramblas. You can take the bus either to or from the airport to the Placa for around 5Euro a person and easily walk around the corner to the Hotel. It's all pink and pretty funky looking in the rooms but they have some snack and drinks out all day which saved us time and $$. We are going back to Barcelona in April and will be staying there again.
quanmama Posted January 3, 2012 #13 Share Posted January 3, 2012 We loved our stay at Atrium Palace last June. We paid about $130 a night. Very good breakfast buffet. Room was a bit on the small side but 3 of us managed well and the room was very modern, clean and functional.

cruisingbarb Posted January 17, 2012 Author #15 Share Posted January 17, 2012 Thanks for all the replies. I've booked 2 rooms at the H10 raco del pi for $150 per night including breakfast which sounds like a good deal and the location is right where I want to be. Anyone have any experience with this hotel?
katgio50 Posted February 26, 2012 #16 Share Posted February 26, 2012 Wow, you got an amazing deal. I just looked for our dates in May and the rate was 269 EURO w/o breakfast which is well over $300 a night. Too expensive for us.
