Personally, I go find a quiet place to sit and enjoy my vacation...but, I'm that way and rarely let others upset me on a cruise. As a freind of mine put it...you have to WORK to make me PO'd on a cruise! Food, entertainment, sun, fresh air, relaxation....it's just not worth the trouble worrying about towels on a chair!

the part where i also sit in areas where people fall alot on the lido deck. i'm quite the self entertainer.

I need to party with you two! You're my kind of peeps!

I would be very surprised if you ever came across a situation where ALL of the deck chairs have been reserved with a towel. Now the available chairs may not be where YOU want to sit...but they're out there.

Well you would have been very surprised on the Inspiration back in Mar 2003. Every morning by 9am ALL deck chairs would be taken with not a soul in site. Just a book here, a flip flop there, towels everywhere. Didn't ruin my cruise, I (and several others) would go up to the jogging track and lay a towel on the deck to get some nice quiet sun. Didn't ruin my cruise and I've never seen it that bad since but I guess that's what I get for cruising during spring break.

They were turning in abandoned stuff so that it could be returned to it's rightful owner. No thief there. Completely legit.

Wait 30 minutes, then be the courteous person that you are and take said items to lost and found so they can be returned to their rightful owners.

Perhaps you overlooked these two words:

"and TAKE"

What is the right thing to do when ALL the deck lounge chairs have towels on them and no towel owner in sight? My husband and I are going to Cruise on Carnival Ecstacy from Port Canaveral on January 30 and love the Serenity Area. Thanks for any info.

Towels go in the towel bin, anything else gets a free trip to the trash or lost and found (aka the nearest crew member) as appropriate.

I usually just stumble out of the Casino at 3:30 or 4:00 a.m.(whenever they close), go to my room and pick up a few towels, books, sunscreen, beachbags, bottles of water, etc, and pick out the best lounges next to the pool, then go to bed.

I expect those chairs will still be there after I get up at 10:00 a.m. when I finally roll out of bed, get some breakfast/lunch, and show up at my liesure. After all, I'm on vacation and spent a lot of money to have my personal pool lounges available to me and my friends if we decide that's what we want to do that day! If we come by, and you're sitting in my chairs..."Katy bar the Door"!

If I put my "stuff" there at 4:00 a.m., shouldn't it be respected?

Should it be respected, Hell NO. I would move your stuff in a heartbeat and turn your towels into the towel station and laugh that you will be charged for them. It is what you would deserve. If more people started doing that then selfish people will learn a lesson.

Hey, me too!

But why go back to your room to sleep? I usually just pass out on the deck chairs after last call and before you know it, the sun has come up and set. Wake up after sunset and do it all over again that night, and again, and again, and again... Works great!

--- ok, warning, anyone with a problem seeing drunk, passed out people, need not read any further ---

I usually reserve the few chairs around me by vomiting on them. That way I have no one else anywhere near me. If I can see, I try and circle my pirated chairs with the next regurgitated "lunch" launch ... but, here is my secret - always leave a small path for the waiter to bring even more tasty beverages once you wake up after sunset.

I once passed out on deck after last call on the last night of my cruise and woke up a day into, I guess you'd call it, an unplanned B2B cruise. No one woke me to tell me I had to get off the ship, honest. Ok, from what I could remember.

Went back to my room and two strange people decided to move in with me, I guess. Didn't matter, just stayed up on deck again and closed the bars everynight and yes - you guessed it - went back to my deck chairs and passed out, reserving those chairs around me by ... ah, you know the story. But remember, share the chair, except mine!

Fur sure, cruzin' is a blast, from what I can remember...

Hey, what can I say? I'm over 80 and still don't need glasses. I drink right out of the bottle!!

Anyway:rolleyes:, if you want a chair right by the pool bring security with you as those hogs are the worst!:D If you want a chair close to the pool then all you need to do is show up and take a seat at the lido bar. Just hang out there observing. You want to scope out the chairs that are empty but have perfectly placed towels on them. Just sit and watch. After 30 mins that chair is yours. You paid for the cruise, enjoy it. Carnival needs to step up the chair hog remedy. I'd pay several more dollars per day if they would take the dude sweeping up fallen pickles and make him in charge of the 'chair waiting table'. 30 mins unoccupied = free chair. Pickle guy escorts you to your chair. Simple.

pretty talented, considering the chair aren't even out at that hour. this must be part of some alcoholic hallucination.

I will admit that I once fell into the Chair Hog Police menatlity.

I went up to the pool area and much to my disbelief, someone left a prefectly good bikini clad woman on a chair! Realizing this was a blatant violation of the "It's my vacation, How dare you impinge on it?" rule, I picked the woman up and of course for safe keeping I took her back to my cabin...you know strictly for safe keeping! I did tell the Purser's desk that if anyone is missing a woman, I can be found by the pool and would be happy to explain how they should not leave them lying around...not to mention their audacity at trying to save a chair that way!;)

All this being said, I never hang out at the pool and never have a problem finding other places to sit and relax. Those who do use the pool shouldn't have to wait for an empty chair with sometimes over 40% of the chairs being used as towel racks and clothes hangers.

I also should be able to leave my towel to hold my chair while I swim or go get a quick lunch. As long as I'm coming right back.

i agree, the "chair hogs" are very disrespectful. was reading another post started with the chair hogs. They can get down right nasty if you take their chair. BUT, that will not stop me if I've been waiting an hour or more and your not there. I understand bathroom, pool, slide, but also understand that others are just as in their right to use a lounger if they want. Our last cruise, didn't have a problem, but then again, we tended to go up a deck. Don't care if i'm by the pool. Though if i chose too be anywhere around, then i'll do it. I'll see how this next one goes lol
