What to do in Nassau?

We are planning a girls trip but limited budget and limited time frame so not a lot to choose from. We are mostly interested in simply vegetating, ie beach, food and drinks. We've both been to nassau and have no reason to do the tourtist sighting seeing stuff this time around. I've read on posts that there are some ports wherein people have signed up for "all-inclusive" beach days at something like a beach club of sorts. Is there anything like this in Nassau?

Thanks!

Junkanoo Beach is within walking distance of the port. It's a public (free) beach area with restroom facilities and places to get food and drinks. Beers were $2.50-$3.00 range, so much cheaper than onboard! Makes for a cheap, relaxing day in port.

There is plenty of shopping to do right around where the ship docks. There is also a free beach that is a ten minute walk from the ship. It is called Cable Beach.

Atlantis is a nice facility with a beach, pools, aquarium, and water park. But they charge for there facilities, and it is quite pricey.

We walked to Junkaroo beach last year. Would not recommend it. The beach was full of broken glass. Didn't stay.

We were at the first beach. maybe we should have walked further?

We were just there in January and didn't see any broken glass. We did walk a little farther down the beach from the entrance, though. It was a nice "chill" kind of day for us.

Cable Beach, BTW, is far from the port. It's not within walking distance, but you can take a cab there!

I agree. Cable Beach is like a 15 minute ride via the jitney. Jitney is $1.50pp now i think. You need to take the #10 bus which you get on Bay St.

Walk down along the water and through the Straw Market and the green Haagen Das building is where the jitneys are.

We went to the Wyndham hotel or you could walk to British Colonial Hilton which is about 5 to 10 minute walk.

Did the Blue Lagoon Beach day....very nice...good strong drinks

Also did the Fromers Walking Tour another time there...that was also very nice to saok up some culture...if you do this go early as it got hotter as it went on...when finished we shopped and were back on the ship...

One thing that most of us don`t do...stay on the ship...it was empty...nice

It;s funny someone sees a few pieces of broken glass and then they think the whole beach is full of broken glass.

Nothing funny about it. Wasn't just "a few pieces".We, 2 of us, saw the same thing.

Did I not say we may check it out again, and go a little further down the beach? Geeze Jimmy! ;)

If you don't mind spending money, the British Colonial Hilton is fabulous. However, the day pass has increased to $50, (which does include $30 in food and drink, I understand). It's before you get to Junkanoo, lovely, and peaceful. We've gone there twice, but on our last cruise we were "on the cheap", so we just went to Junkanoo instead.

We loved the BCH, but $50 is a bit more than we paid.......

We really loved Blue Lagoon. We found a hammock and, except for eating lunch, just laid there steps away from the water. It was Great!!!

We were there a few weeks ago. From the ship, we walked a few short blocks to the #10 jitney bus. We paid $1.25 each way. We took the bus to the Sheraton, walked up to the desk and bought a one day pass for $25pp. We had access to their beautiful beach, many pools, and restrooms. They had drinks and food for purchase. We had a wonderful day and wouldn't hesitate to go back the next time we're in Nassau.

Last time we were there (last summer), we took a cab to Cable beach. While that is a little more than a cab (there were four of us), the driver did stop along the way at a liquor store where we stocked up with cheap beer before going to the beach.

We brought along a collapsable ice cooler that we filled with ice before leaving the ship.
