In Tortola today, our first port, but plan to post about the Enchantment. I haven't followed this thread since boarding because of slow Internet onboard the Enchantment, so I'll have to respond to unanswered questions later. The Internet connection at the Tortola cafe is slow too but at least it is a bit faster than the Enchantment. And it is a free connection in Tortola. :D

So far I have not heard or read of any updates on parts and repair for the motor problem. I haven't really been able to tell we even have a problem. We are sailing in smooth seas at what appears to be normal speed. We did receive a sheet the first day with the same exact information that we received via phone and email regarding a modified itinerary and a shipboard credit. No updated verbal (that I have heard anyway) or written information since then. I have not heard any complaints about the itinerary. ;)

High temperatures have been 61-77 degrees at sea and high of 81 in Tortola today. Seas have been smooth but it has been very windy on deck. People have been enjoying the pool deck even with the wind. Walking on the track is a little challenging, so some of our walks have been on the Promenade deck. The Promenade deck is blocked so that we cannot go all the way around. We have been to the fitness center each day. They have Life Fitness equipment with recumbent bikes, elliptical trainers, and treadmills and resistance machines.

Our Cruise Critic sail away party and Meet and Mingle were both well attended. I did not participate in the slot pull and lunch.

Food and service have both been excellent. Internet service is very slow, so I am only using my 30 free (Diamond) Internet minutes and additional Internet package for email only.

A couple nights ago we met a gentleman named Jack who has 152 RCI cruises! We've talked with him several times since then. It's intriguing to meet people who have cruised more than we have. In this case, it is way over 4x as many total cruises than we have!

More later when I can read some of your posts and can answer some questions.

Answering a couple questions in this post.

We are getting a $175 shipboard credit. We have an ocean view. We have additional credits from the TA and also for being shareholders.

Hi Everyone,

Did I miss something? what happened to the Explorers engine?

And what port changes were made to the Current cruise? Feb 27 2012.

Dont read the boards for a few days and I am totally lost! LOL

I can't answer about the Explorer, but we are sailing on the current February 27th sailing with Enchantment.

Our cruise originally was supposed to include Labadee. Labadee was removed from the itinerary because of the mechanical problem. Instead we are staying later in each port. For example, after midnight in a couple ports, until 6pm today in Tortola instead of 5pm, and in San Juan until 5pm instead of 1pm. Fine with with dh and me!

Kathy~ Thanks for all updated reports on what is going on and not going on on the Enchantment.

I see that you have already met one of my friends, Jack. It is his B-day that we were going to celebrate. His B-day is on March 5th, so if you see him, tell him HB from Heidi!..that is why i wanted to go on this cruise, but alas...could not :( I am sure the ship will give him a whop-de-du celebration, as this is his favorite ship. He is one of the Pinnacle members as well and they have much respect for him. He is a very nice gentleman.

Please keep the reports coming and enjoy your cruise to the fullest. Glad you got $175 OBC, as it sure helps keeping that "end of the trip tab" down!!!..take care...heidi

HELLO FROM THE ENCHANTMENT

We are having a wonderful time. IF THERE IS STILL SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE PROP, YOU WOULD NOT BE AWARE OF IT. The ship is just the same as it has always been.

Those whom we know from CC are having a great time.

Gail talked with John Blair last night and there had been no changes decided for next cruise. You all would probably hear before we do.

I have not read the above posts.

Just keep in mind that this ship is her usual wonderful self.

I am looking forward to seeing you soon.

That's sounds great!

I asked on the other thread but :

Did anyone notice a lot of wild chickens on Tortola? They were like squirrels, all over the place. I wondered if the locals let them run wild and then just catch them to eat. Like wild game.

Drove from Philly to Baltimore, had dinner at the hotel, now just relaxing and waiting for tomorrow.

We are very excited with the new itinerary!:D I will miss Labadee but to spend extra time on the other islands it's worth it!

Everyone from our Roll Call was on pins and needles all week and we were all glued to the threads about the problems the Enchantment was having. Hopefully we can alleviate some of the fears that everyone else with upcoming cruises are having.

Come sail away with us!

Till tomorrow.........................

Hopefully your trip is great...what trouble was she having Enchantment...

HOLY MOLEY...the onboard credit is $300 for our stateroom. Heck, I like the new itinerary better than the one I booked and would not have complained about missing Labadee. With a $300 credit the certainly maintained my loyality.

The ship looks beautiful and my spirits are high. I've already met 6 people from our roll call...this is going to be an awesome cruise.

Have to go..bags are here and it isn't even 2 o'clock.

What was the on board credit for...that is cool.

You have obviously not been reading the Royal Caribbean board since February 18th...

Where is the Enchantment this morning? Did they reach the next port yet?

We are in Antigua today. We arrived on time both yesterday in Tortola and today in Antigua. We are staying until 1:30am tomorrow early morning. We have to be back onboard by 1:00am! The two of us will be back on board much earlier. ;)

Heidi,

We will be sure to tell Jack Happy Birthday from you. He told us his birthday is Monday, so we had planned to wish him a Happy Birthday. We'll tell him tonight if he stops by at dinner time, which he has been doing the past few nights since we met him. Plus we have seen him others times. I'm sure there will be a birthday celebration for him on Monday. The staff is treating him like royalty. Yesterday they filmed him for an RCI commercial, he thinks for tv, so maybe we will see him on tv! He has the most number of RCI cruises on this sailing, but he did not go to the Crown & Anchor party to receive the recognition.

Wish you could have joined us on this sailing.

That's sounds great!

Yes, we saw a lot of hens & roosters yesterday.

What a problem I do have...eat and drink on the ship or do it on th island. this is our second visit to Antigua in two months and we love it even more.. We spent the day at Coconut Grove in the most glorious beach setting. How dare Royal Caribbean mess with my mind and affections by docking at such a wonderful island AND THEN TELLING US THAT WE DO NOT HAVE TO RETURN TO THE SHIP UNTIL AFTER MIDNIGHT. This is awesome.

As I said yesterday, the ship is FANTASTIC. EVERYTHING IS WONDERFUL.

In some weird way I would like to complain and fuel the fires of the "loyal to Royals" but I just can not.

We are having a wonderful time.

What a week so far... Met a bunch of great folks at the MandM. Actually using someone's iPad right now to post while enjoying a lovely beverage at a corner bar in town.

...the solarium looks like a scene from Coccoon...

...look kids, Casino Royal... Shops... Look kids, Casino Royal... Shops... European Vacation anyone???

Got a note to stop by the 'naughty' room for one bottle in the suitcase. Everything in the carry on made it so I can save a touch one the bill.

At what point is sunburn too severe? I can't feel my feet and my ankles are so swollen my shoes don't fit.

Dinner and then back out for more good times!

Hi kathy~ Me too, I wish I had been on that sailing as well.

Please do tell Jack HB for me on Monday. He will get a big "kick" out of that. He was very disappointed I could not get a cabin either and even offered to share his with me!...lol.......He probably did not realize he would get a recognition, otherwise he would have been there. That really surprises me, for he usually attends those parties. They will make sure he gets it.

Sounds to me that you guys are just having too much fun on this cruise.

Enjoy yourselves in these beautiful islands and look forward to your next report. Heidi

Thanks! Dont know how I missed that haha..

Wonder why the extra sea day and the long stay in St. Marrten and Antigua.?

The extra day at sea is because the ship cannot reach full speed. So it needs extra time to make it back to port. They added extra time in port to try and keep people happy. From what I can tell it is working very well. Royal Caribbean might want to look into making this itinerary a regular feature. It will be until the engine is fixed.
