shumdit1 Posted February 28, 2012 #105 Share Posted February 28, 2012 Hi, I just got off the Enchantment yesterday. We basically had a cruise to nowhere but that is okay with me. Love the sea days. Got to Port Canaveral and Nassau. Not into Nassau until 3:00 Pm and left at 11 AM the next morning. Everyone seemed to have a good time regardless of the problems. We all got the price of our cruise back. I will take a cruise to nowhere anytime for free.

I guess we better not come to the M&M then. BTW, he got called out about that news video on another thread too. Let's see, he posted an old news story, said the ship was "fixed" just because he felt like it and posted from what I can tell to increase his post count. TH451 Posted February 29, 2012 #111 Share Posted February 29, 2012 Can't you just feel the love? Glad everyone is having a good cruise so far. I wish we could have your itinerary for our March 19th cruise.
SeaHeir Posted February 29, 2012 #112 Share Posted February 29, 2012 Hi All! I'm new here . . . but have been following this thread and British Man's First Cruise thread. It has been fun reading all of the posts! My family and I will be on EoS for the March 10th cruise. I too was on pins and needles wondering if they were going to be able to fix her. So glad they were able to at least partially repair the engine. I was glad to read that the majority of the people on last week's cruise made the best of it and enjoyed themselves! Anyway, I wish those cruising on EoS this week a fantastic time! I hope you have clear blue skies, bright sun and calm seas for your entire trip! Thank you for taking the time to share your vacation with us. :) Anyone who will be on the March 10th sailing . . . hope to meet you on the ship! vavasmom Posted February 29, 2012 #113 Share Posted February 29, 2012 To all on this cruise - have a wonderful trip. I have been reading your roll call on and off for a while (mine were not as active). You guys should have a blast. I bet your M&M was one from the RCCL record books. I laughed at the not so naughty - naughty room trip. That would be my luck.

I will add my support to BND on these reports that the motor issue has been fixed. As I have posted several places already, unless someone in a position of authority, like the Captain or the Cruise Director, actually tells you that the problem is fixed, there is simply no way for anyone to know for sure from casual observation, because this current itinerary does not require the ship's top speed. That is why they adjusted the ports for this trip, so that the ship did not have to go it's top speed. Absent an official announcement (and RCCL customer service most definitely does not count for that), the only way we will know for sure if the speed is restored 100% is to see whether or not the itinerary is changed for the March 10th sailing. Those of you who are on that sailing, keep an eye open for news from the cruise line, if they have to change the itinerary, they will probably let you know a couple days before you leave. Pumbaamd Posted February 29, 2012 #121 Share Posted February 29, 2012 {Previous quote: "Did I miss something? what happened to the Explorers engine?"} WOW! This has gotten way confused. We've talked about this previously, on one or more of these recent Enchantment threads. RCCL has Enchantment officially abbreviated as "EN". Explorer is "EX". If we all use "EN" and "EX", it should be very simple. R&D
stevensoap Posted February 29, 2012 #122 Share Posted February 29, 2012 Have you all watched the marinetraffic.com website about this time of night? It is very interesting. During the day your hard pressed to even find a cruise ship (dark blue) but that all changes in the evenings. They all pop up and to watch them is a learning experience. Notice how they keep spaced about 30 miles apart so they are in contact via Marine VHF. Also look at the speeds. If they are "on the move" to a distant destination you might see 17-18 kts. Mostly 16-17 kts I find. But most are running circles keeping those casinos open to generate funds. I just started doing this and plan to compare the weather radars with this track and see what they do. Haul a** to the clear warm weather and then run circles I bet! Also at the bottom of the right menu you will see a Receiving station link. Look to find that Freeport is the only receiver in the Bahamas. It has been intermittent at best for the last week. It is "offline" right now. The cruise ships in the Bahamas are not showing up on the site. Sudsy:) always curious:cool: BTW I heard from a reliable source that the Explorer of the Seas has one motor that will only run in reverse so they are "backing" to Labadee. This actually will put them there ahead of schedule and make it easier to leave since they won't have to turn around!:eek::eek:

dixieva Posted February 29, 2012 #125 Share Posted February 29, 2012 There is another thread here that the poster took a picture of the station on the TV that has the location and speed of the ship so maybe that's where this speed came from. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1583157
