CarolinaMamma Posted March 25, 2012 #1 Share Posted March 25, 2012 I am not usually a big fan of watching TV on vacation, but we are sailing on Millie next Monday, which is the day of the NCAA basketball final, any my husband is just a teeny bit obsessed. Does anyone know if Celebrity normally broadcasts big sporting events on board? If so, where on the ship?
kitty9 Posted March 25, 2012 #2 Share Posted March 25, 2012 It depends on where you are and if they can get it on the satellite. You can probably ask in the casino bar.
CarolinaMamma Posted March 25, 2012 Author #3 Share Posted March 25, 2012 Sailing out of Miami that afternoon and game is on around 8. Wonder if we will be in range. And sorry for spelling Celebrity incorrectly in the title. I cannot type on an iPad.

jmkennett Posted March 25, 2012 #5 Share Posted March 25, 2012 Just off the Solstice today and they showed the games yesterday. It was on the normal Cartoon Network channel, but it was a CBS feed through an ESPN channel. We were off the coast of Cuba, so I don't think distance was a problem. Have a great cruise! Wish I could turn around and go back!
Welovetokruze Posted March 25, 2012 #6 Share Posted March 25, 2012 CBS and ESPN will show games of National Importance. A NCAA final is certainly of such importance We have watched 4 finals aboard ship.
Rare northwoods2 Posted March 25, 2012 #7 Share Posted March 25, 2012 Millie had the games on Thursday and Friday night in the sports bar Extreme. But the bar did not have any staff = it was very quiet. Which was fine - plenty of seats.

I had them to win on my brackets and would have come in second for a real nice share of a $1200 pot. Hate to see them not be in the finals. CruisinCandy Posted March 27, 2012 #10 Share Posted March 27, 2012 Just off the Solstice on Sunday. I also saw NCAA games on the TVs in the casino and at the casino bar. I "bet" they will do something special for the final four. Andy
cruisejess Posted March 27, 2012 #11 Share Posted March 27, 2012 We are leaving this week and I wondered if CBS, NBC, ABC and Fox are available to watch in our cabin? Thanks!
Rare Lois R Posted March 27, 2012 #12 Share Posted March 27, 2012 We are leaving this week and I wondered if CBS, NBC, ABC and Fox are available to watch in our cabin? Thanks! Hello:) nope, if you are looking for "regular programming" like you receive at home? Nope. They do give you choices....many programs are re-runs.... Example is Big Bang Theory....that may be on during the night with different episodes. They have different news channels, CNN, FOX, SKY, BBC. They also have ESPN (alot;)).... They have TNT as well. And they have certain programs that are ship related with the CD and one of his Activity Staff talking about different events on the ship. They do have something called "EYE ON CELEBRITY" which is sponsored by CBS but it is not regular programming but different stories from (example...a story on 60 Minutes). I mentioned TNT, sometimes they have re-reruns of shows and they have movies on there as well. But if you are looking for "First Run" programs from the Networks? I would suggest Tivoing them before you leave for your cruise if there is something important to you that you don't want to miss. The only time I ever watch tv on board? Usually before I go to bed and it works like a sedative;)
cruisejess Posted March 27, 2012 #13 Share Posted March 27, 2012 My DVR is all set. I do enjoy watching the "Today"show (even on vacation) so I will miss that. I'm surprised that Celebrity doesn't offer network programming as I know it is available on some of the other lines. Thanks again!

I'm surprised that Celebrity doesn't offer network programming as I know it is available on some of the other lines. Thanks again! I have been sailing with Celebrity for 9 years and they have never had "network programming". I cannot comment on other lines. It doesn't matter to me though.....watching tv doesn't appeal to me too much when I cruise (well, except maybe for the NFL playoffs and Superbowl:D:))
