SGM Arty Posted March 25, 2012 #1 Share Posted March 25, 2012 My wife and I are thinking of a cruise on the Explorer of the Seas in October. The ship is docked for three days/2nights in Bermuda. Is there regular nightly meals in the main dining room while the ship is docked. Do they have the nightly entertainment shows in the theater while the ship is docked in Port? MedicKen Posted March 25, 2012 #2 Share Posted March 25, 2012 With the exception of the shops and casino being closed there should be very little difference in the ship operation. Of course you can leave and re-enter anytime you wish during your stay at the dockyard. We've done Explorer and Bermuda twice and Explorer and the Caribbean on a third cruise. We love the ship and especially the crew. Have a great cruise on our favorite ship.

cruisegirl1 Posted March 25, 2012 #5 Share Posted March 25, 2012 Hmm - hadn’t realized that. I know the shops and casino are generally closed when the ship is in dock, but we’ve never taken a cruise that has an overnight in port. When the in Bahamas, the casino opens about 8PM (and the shops earlier) but the ship doesn’t sail till midnight Thanks for the clarification. M Unfortunately, the Bermuda government has been unable to muster enough legislative support to change the law that requires the casinos to be closed while ships are docked. They have made a few unsuccessful attempts in recent years but have faced very strong opposition from some members of the government and a strong lobby on the island which does not view cruise ships or their passengers with a great deal of favor.:(
cruisegirl1 Posted March 25, 2012 #7 Share Posted March 25, 2012 Looks like Bermuda will not be on our future cruise list. Pity, as it really looks beautiful but 2-3 days on ship with no casino is a deal breaker. M

debshomespun Posted March 27, 2012 #11 Share Posted March 27, 2012 Which way does Explorer dock while in Bermuda, port side or starboard side? We have an aft corner cabin, and I was just curious as to which view we will be looking at for the 3 days we are docked. We are corner aft on port side. Thanks! :D
