OMG! Those pics are hilarious! I am literally LMAO! Gotta say, this is one of the more entertaining threads I've seen in awhile. It always amazes me when people get so upset over what other people eat/wear/drink on a cruise. I guess I don't notice because I'm too busy wearing offensive clothes/over eating/drinking myself silly. :p

Yeah! What would we all do while sitting around people watching if the people didn't do anything to WATCH!!

How boring would THAT be??!!!

Oooh, speaking of big leagues... aren't a lot of MLB ballparks now offering an all-you-can-eat package with certain tickets? Can you imagine, someone leaning over to the guy in the next row who's elbows deep into a tub of nachos and a fourth hot dog, telling him to stop eating so much or else the home team are going to have to trade their ace pitcher?!

Good point! I say trade the pitcher and pass the ketchup.

By the way, my hometown ace pitcher is Justin Verlander...but if he's gotta go, he's gotta go. I'll have 4 more dogs, please.

DH and I always say that one of the funniest things about cruises is that we ALL (well, at least most of us) seem to eat like we've never seen food before! :p We just got home from two weeks of fabulous food on Century. One of the great things about X is the constant availability of healthy food. We ate a lot of lunches in the AquaSpa Cafe, and hit the sushi bar some evenings. They have a great stir-fry station at lunch, as well as healthy options on the MDR menus. Now, if I could just figure out how to avoid the pool-side grill .... ;):D

I am looking at both Reflection and Equinox TAs this fall (as well as Carnival Breeze) so ya never know about running into each other.

Give the Reflection out of Barcelona at look. Leaves Barcelona and the next port is one of my favorites....Palma! Also does the Canaries which we flew around a bit once, but never been to. All those cruises you listed sound great, a win-win-win situation.

I'm in training for my upcoming Alaskan cruise. I've been going to nothing but all you can eat buffets and all you can eat fish frys on Fridays. I've brought my game up a notch and feel I'm ready for the big leagues.

Being at the top of my game will serve me well for my fall trip to Las Vegas, whose buffets are nothing to sneeze at. Last year we did Caesar's resorts 24 hour buffet for $44.99 which entitles one to all the buffets you want at any Caesar's properties - Harrah's, Flamingo, Bally's, Imperial Palace, Rio, Paris and Caesar's Palace. The trick is to purchase your first meal in the evening at say 9:00PM or so. That way you can fit in 1 dinner buffet the first night, and can have 3 more, a breakfast, lunch and dinner the following day. We did Rio's, Paris, Caesar's Palace and Harrah's. It was a great deal and saves you quite a bit of money. Perhaps if FIXIT is ever in Vegas when my wife and I are there he can tag along....

Speaking of Las Vegas, have you gone to the Las Vegas Club on Freemont Street. Five dollars buys you a hot dog, loaded fries, a frozen chocolate dipped banana on a stick, and a deep fried twinkie.

Go back to the slots to wash it all down or outside for the fun show "Freemont Experience".

Does it also come with a free ambulance ride to the emergency room after you keel over from an artery clogging heart attack caused by the fat overload from this meal?

Yes, actually I have! Four of us were there in the fall and we had the frozen chocolate dipped banana on a stick ($1.00) and deep fried twinkies ($1.00). DW and I have been going out to las vegas 1-2 times per year for the last 30 years. Many, many years ago, buffets ran $2.00 and up, but usually under $10.00. I completely agree on the Fremont street experience..it's a great time and there's usually some good bands playing on the street..totally free.

Many casino's used to feature a $1.99 complete steak dinner (and a good one) after 11:00PM. Now, most edible buffets are in the upper teens, twenties and up. Quite frankly, I liked old Las Vegas more than what it's evolved into over the last 25 years.

You know, come to think of it, a few years ago I saw someone taking photos of me in the Mirage buffet one night. I'm not going to be a happy camper if MRFIXIT posts photo's of me ravaging the Mirage's buffet!!

Just visited Tenerife with Solstice. ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS. Took the tour of the volcanic park and got some incredible views/pics. Also saw the airport where the two 747s collided back inthe 70s. I'm looking for other TAs that stop at either Grand Canary or La Palma to hit as many of the islands as I can. What aircraft provided your airborne views?

Why did you have to ask....those photos are causing me major gastric issues! So much for lunch today.

I know we have hijacked this thread....that's good, tired of the lectures on getting my 3rd plate of pilied-high goodies! I'm a bit, shall we say, well-worn. I flew in RA-5C's - a Vigilante, and F-14s. Made cruises on the Saratoga (2), Forrestal (1), Kitty Hawk (1), Nimitz (2). And I didn't get any points towards Elite/Diamond/Platinum, go figure.

Thanks for the heads up on the volcanic park on Tenerife, will give that a go.

I have three manly rules which don't necessarily conflict with yours:

1) Wear a multi pocketed see through MANly plastic raincoat to dinner. With it, you can fill the pockets with more food for later.

2) Hit the MENS room for a download before dinner. You can then fill your tanks to their utmost capacity.

3) Have a MANly camera hidden on you for clandestinely photographing miscreants reaching for that 2nd pork chop.

I am truly shocked by what people think is OK these days. My morally superior senses are offended and outraged over such a sexist and male chauvinist attitude such as yours... OK... I can't keep going, this is just too much fun:p Loved your chapter 11 comment, what a hoot!

These bad boys rest at the peak of the culinary delights evolutionary pyramid.

Thanks for pics. Was just curious to find out what they were.

Not sure I would like them as I kind of prefer savoury to sweet! But that's just me:D

I love the photos of the deep fried twinkie and the froz choc covered banana on a stick. Can't help but ask: Do you have a photo of the DEEP FRIED OREO? It's a dollar making the full meal come to $6.

I've never had room for all of it because I spend so much time cleaning my system with wine at the machines.

Old Las Vegas (Freemont Street) is really picking up. DH and I spend at least 4 weeks ea yr in Las Vegas (on the Strip). The buffets are getting more expensive and the hours are limited. Mandalay Bay has an eat all day for a single price deal. Sort of like being on a cruise ship?

Here we are bemoaning the immorality of ordering a 2nd helping and you people are talking about Las Vegas.....the Sodom and Gomorrah of Modern Times! How insensitive and completely inappropriate. I always forget if Las Vegas is suppose to be Sodom or Gomorrah....I guess that leaves the other one for Topeka Kansas.

"I'm shocked, shocked that gambling is going on here.....Oh thank you for my winnings!" - love that scene, one of the greatest - next to: "Badges??..Badges?? we got no stinking badges...we don't need no stinking Badges!!". I use that line at security check-ins when I feel like getting a full body cavity check.

Den, we spend at least a month every year in Las Vegas. We go to enjoy the buffets, shows, and sights galore. The interesting thing that we notice in most of the buffets (expensive or mid-range) is the predominance of thin customers.

Thin and they eat fast (Maybe to go back to gambling for perks?).

Even at some lower prices buffets, we see more thin people indulging in the spreads. Maybe it is because the Las Vegas buffets are a bargain compared to the "Specialty" Restaurants.

Maybe the heavy customers dine at lower priced eateries???? Don't know the answer.

Thanks for making that comparison, Denny. Next time I'm in Vegas I'll be looking over my shoulder waiting for a great flood, fire, etc racing in to wipe us out. That being said, if the good lord decides it's time, hopefully I'll be on a losing sreak and not a winning one.

I love this thread. Thanks for posting the photo of Deep Fried Oreo's.

I've always wanted to order one just to see it.

"A winning streak", is that when they put the crab legs out at a cheap buffet in Las Vegas?

On a similar thread I asked about getting the most for my money on the Premium Drink Package while also enjoying the food options. Not much action on that question. Therefore, I'll ask here:

Do you have any photos of the 25 cent martinis Commander Palace offers with any main course. We like to order the max, that's three apiece. Last got them in Destin, FL.

I prefer the Crepe Suzette on X.

I'm with you there 4774 Papa, how'd we get from =X= to Vegas. LOL.

The food on X has changed over the years. Our last cruise, we dined in Blu with the exception of specialty restaurants and big props to them for kicking it up. Gotta be hard to please the masses, food can be subjective.

I love the french fries on X, man they're the best.

...in the MDR, do the staff and/or other passengers give you a strange look? I would hate to have to choose between lobster and chateaubriand!

Is this practice pretty commonplace on Celebrity? On our Carnival cruise last August, I didn't notice a single person at our 8 person table do this. I don't want to be the only one!

...just off VOS, and i had TWO lobster tails and steak on "surf & turf night" and didnt care about anyone else. order what you want, but please eat it. i cant stand waste!
