I don't know why, when some starts a thread, they don't spend an extra moment to spell out an acronym.

Anyway, here's another for the befuddled, such as I.:)

 

Thanks I've added it to my main list. Still haven't figured out how to get a PDF into my signature. So I'll just add the updated list here.

Thanks Linda. It's a little funny how this came to be.

 

We don't own smart phones or any newer texting friendly cell phones. As my DH would say we just own old "dumb" phones. So with the exception of texting my local casino host to let her know when I'm coming or if I want a comp for something, I don't text. Needless to say, my acronym knowledge of todays world is limited. When reading these threads, I found myself many times on google typing in the acronym to try and figure out what others were talking about, unless it was fairly obvious by the sentence. Then once in a while I would see other posters asking what something stood for and realized, although probably in the minority I wasn't alone in my lack of knowledge. So I decided to share for others in the same position.

 

I did request from admin to have this as a sticky but never heard back from them.

Cheri, I did the same thing! Never had heard of this stuff before until I got on Cruise Critic. I was seriously lost at first with all the "D- Whatevers." In the beginning, I never went to look anything up so I just formed my own interpretation.

BTW, let me say, I love how we call each other by our first names. I wish others would. I am thinking I should probably sign each one of my posts with Linda.

When i first came on board, like most people, i didn't know what all the Dw's, Sil's and so forth meant. That being said, i can't recall the last time i was accused of being smart. :eek:

My, DW, i lovingly call " TVTMBO " meaning " the voice that must be obeyed " like that will ever happen.

That would be my pleasure. :p

Many, many, many, year's ago, when i lived in Galt, Ontario, now called Cambridge. It was either the Legion, or one of my favorite haunt's, they had a fairly good size wooden plaque, over the bar. Burned on it were the letter's , " IYBMABIWTYWIM ", that dang thing drove me crazy, ( maybe it was only a short putt :eek: ) For many month's i tried to figure what those letter's meant. If you figure, it out, i owe you one. Ya, it would be fun to cruise together. As you can see we are on the Dawn, Feb.3/13. Will have a wobbly pop for you.

hahaha. Telling DH about this post and that we had to now book a cruise in Feb, he informed me that would be an awful expensive pina colada. So I guess maybe 2014 will have to do.

 

Enjoy your cruise, the Dawn holds a special place in my heart because she was our first cruise ship. I'm sure you will love getting away from the deep freeze and snow you have been blessed with this year.

We are doing a 15 day reposition, from Vancouver, to Long Beach, with 5 day's in Hawaii, 5 different island's this Sept. Grrrrreat price. Not NCL.

I had to laugh...

Yesterday on a NCL Breakaway thread, someone posted that their cabin was just below the EGIA .

I looked up EGIA on all the acronym sites with no avail.

 

Then it hit me...

On the top deck is the ship's name; NORWEGIAN BREAKAWAY.:)

List is great. As others have said, some of them are obvious but others have been difficult to figure out.

 

If we keep posting, the thread will stay in the New Posts section so will be seen more.
