It has appeared all over the board lately and it is "shaking my head"

In the fictional world of J. K. Rowling's book series Harry Potter, a muggle is a person who lacks any sort of magical ability and was not born into the magical world. Muggles also do not have any magical blood.

 

M.o.M, well in my world it was the one who changed my dirty diapers as a baby. But in this particular case, I really have no idea. If you want my guess it would probably be referring to the "M"uggles and "M"oderators.

 

I'm seriously surprised that thread has not been pulled LOL

 

BTW I'd never tell anyone to "look it up". It used to drive me crazy in school when I would ask how to spell something and a teacher would tell me just look it up. Like, I'd need to know how to spell it to look it up.

I can help with that one. It's how HP fans seem to shorten the name (I googled it when writing that post) of "Ministry of Magic" which (according to Wikipedia) is the government of the Magical community of Britain in JKR's works.

 

Sorry if that acronym caused some kind of distress. :D

 

EDIT: The thread seemed to cause distress at least to the moderators because the whole thread is now gone. Conspiracy, I say, conspiracy! :D :D

Very glad people are finding it helpful. I've requested twice that they make a sticky out of it to make it easier access, especially to new CC fans.

 

But I have never received an email back from them, answering my request.

 

It's too bad because I know how much I struggled when I first started with CC to figure out what people were talking about. Now poor DH has to listen to my tails of CC in cruise acronym language :D

 

"So and so (with a very strange CC name) said that he and his DW went to GSC on their cruise, its was a on B2B and they really had a good time". "They said it was best to get the DOD in a non-souvenir glass though". "They had originally book a GTY mini-suite but the upgrade fairy, phone them with an offer of PH". "At the M&G a few of them decided to have dinner that night together in the aft MDR. :D :D

:D Well that is very true and that is one of the first things I was probably taught in my business courses in letter writing. However, since this is not a business letter, nor do many on these boards care if they make an impression on anyone else, I'm pretty sure proper writing etiquette flew out the window on this board. ;)

It appears this thread isn't being updated any longer, which is too bad. New posters could benefit from having things like UBP defined, which doesn't appear in this list. I think the NCL acronyms were lost in the mess of generic web/text acronyms though.
