I will on my upcoming cruise because I carry a portable fan and need to make sure it will be able to stand on the nightstand.

Why do you think you need a surge protector on a cruise ship? Is it just for the extra outlets or are you worried about power surges?

I was going to take one on our last cruise but forgot it at home. Never needed it and most likely won't bring it on our next one either.

Neither....we've never needed extra outlets.....few things require constant plugging in....just plug and unplug as needed!

Checked bag, extra outlets. They offer surge protection both ways, don't they? :confused:

Have had it in carry on once and in checked luggage all other times and have not had issues. In our case is to have extra outlets over night to recharge camera batteries and MP3 player batteries, two sets of each. Each day then starts with a full charge on each item. We are rarely in the cabin during the day to rotate charging devices.

Yes, it's just for the outlets. It's just one of those small travel size ones, so it doesn't take up much room.
