How do these work? .......as opposed to the $10 for $20 in slot credits that you can also purchase on NCL's website...... is it worth it?

My daughter purchases the 50.00 play for 25.00 on line and prints out a receipt which she brings to the casino and they give her the 50.00 play on her players card. You do have to sign up for a players card to receive the credit. Sorry I am not more knowledgeable but I do know she has done it and does recommend it to her friends.

OP, are you maybe talking about slotplaycoupons.com? If so, the $50 is loaded onto your casino card, but hopefully you'll get lucky on the slots and be able to use your winnings to buy chips. If you buy on the website you'll print out the certificate to present to the casino. Very easy and legit. I've used on NCL and a local casino without a problem.

I just checked out the area of the site you are referencing, and those items are simply casino credit, sold at face value. As such, these are purely casino credit, not promotional credit. The difference between the two programs is that the pay less/get more deals involve promotional credit which must be played out, and only winnings can be cashed out. The deals offered at slotplay.com are utilized the same way.

 

The standard casino credits will still be loaded onto the player's card, but could immediately be transferred into cash by simply cashing out.

I just re-read the Bon Voyage Gifts area, and the play IS promotional on both offers. The only difference with them is that they can be used either in the slots, or on the tables. Here is the text from NCL's Bon Voyage page:

had pulled up exactly what the previous poster referenced.......but I STILL DON'T KNOW if its just for $100 casino credit to JUST be used in the casino (which makes no sense)

I bought 2 of the $20 play for $10 options for my wife and I. The $20 we save will buy us each a nice drink while playing.

 

The Bon Voyage gifts are mainly intended to buy for others as gifts and this may be why they don't offer any extras with most of them.

 

When I ordered I asked the NCL order taker why there was a limit of one per person on the $50 and $100 casino credits and not on the $50 and $100 onboard credit certificates and she could not provide me with an answer.

The way they are handled make them two separate things. If you purchase $100 Promotional Casino Credit, you are given $100 to play in the casino directly - still not sure if it's a credit put to your CAS card / promotional chips, or given in cash, I think I remember it as both at different points in time. You then can play that full $100 in the slots or at tables. The $100 On Board Credit you can purchase goes to your onboard account. If you wish to then use it at the casino, you go to the cashier and sign for the $100 against your onboard account, and you are charged the 3% fee - $3.00. You can also use that $100 OBC for other things like drinks, specialty restaurants, or any other onboard purchases. So the main difference, in terms of casino use, is the 3% fee that you avoid by purchasing the casino credit instead of OBC. This is why they offer the limited purchase as well - some of us would purchase $5000 of promotional casino credit to avoid paying the 3% fee.

Ok here is the difference

 

The Onboard Credits is just OBC that goes on your room account. Use it for anything from drinks, snacks, upcharge dinner, excursion etc. You can use it for casino, but it is not limited to casino

 

The Promotional Play is divided into 2 groups Slot Machine credits and Table Game Credits. Just choose which one you want. Some are just $1 for $1. I think this is used more as a gift someone might want to give you before yous sail. Say you were my brother/sister/aunt/uncle and I wanted to give you a gift. I could buy $25/$50/100 in chips or slot credit. The other is promotional where you get a bit more than you spend. However, you need to choose which place you want to play. Tables or Slots.

When I called NCL to book these credits I assumed the same thing...what I was told was that the larger denominations $50/$100 were basically on the site to purchase as gifts ie TA giving as an incentive, grandma buying a birthday gift etc... the only "promo" is the $10 for $20 worth of slot play, or $10 for $15 worth of chips thru NCL.
