Boytjie Posted August 7, 2012 #2 Share Posted August 7, 2012 Compared to most new ships the Noordam is medium sized: it's stated passenger capacity is 1,924.

catl331 Posted August 7, 2012 #4 Share Posted August 7, 2012 There are 959 staterooms, which would give a double-occupancy total of 1,918 - but of the 959 there are 282 triples and 153 are quads, so absolute maximum capacity is 2506 IF regulations would allow that. (They don't) I don't know how many triples and quads are usually filled, but I would guess the average sailing has around 2100 passengers aboard. PathfinderEss Posted August 7, 2012 #5 Share Posted August 7, 2012 The Noordam would not be considered a big ship. It only carries 1924 passengers comparend to ships like the RC's Oasis and Allure that carry 5,000. I believe that the Noordam is considered medium size for cruise ships today. catl331 Posted August 7, 2012 #7 Share Posted August 7, 2012 How many passengers do regulations allow? What is your source for saying it is less than 2506?I don't know what regulations allow, but I've read posts here over the years that have said people weren't allowed to book a triple or quad on a ship, even though the room was available, because that would have put the ship over the limit. I believe these limits are imposed by the US Coast Guard. Wait a while, and I'll bet that someone with first-hand experience on this will post. :)
Salacia Posted August 7, 2012 #8 Share Posted August 7, 2012 The MAX passenger capacity on ms Noordam is 2,353 (plus 820 crew) according to http://www.shipcruise.org/cruise-articles/12-passenger-cruise-ships-capacity

Himself Posted August 7, 2012 #11 Share Posted August 7, 2012 The Noordam is one of two current Holland Ships I have not been on. I hope to get on her in the next year and a half or so. I have heard nothing but good things about this ship.

496and706 Posted August 7, 2012 #14 Share Posted August 7, 2012 June 17, 2012 there were 2076 guests and 2083 guests the cruise after that.
jtl513 Posted August 7, 2012 #15 Share Posted August 7, 2012 I noticed in that FastFacts.pdf that for just two ships the Capacity listed in the first row does not equal twice the total numbers of cabins - the Noordam and the Prinsendam. The P-dam capacity is shown as 835 for 434 cabins, and in fact there are three single cabins on her (the only ones in the fleet) so the 835 makes sense. I think the correct figure for the Noordam is 1918, not the 1924 shown, since it has one more cabin than the Westerdam, Oosterdam, and Zuiderdam which are all listed at 1916. Typhoon1 Posted August 7, 2012 #16 Share Posted August 7, 2012 It's actually pretty small compared to the Mega ships sailing today such as the Allure or Oasis. Maybe you might be docked next to one of the Megas, you can see just how small the Noordam is.

jtl513 Posted August 8, 2012 #18 Share Posted August 8, 2012 I got 1,924 from the HAL website: Noordam ship facts as well as fleet wide facts. That chart also says 959 staterooms. 959x2 = 1918. Also the pocket deck plan I have from the Noordam says 1918. ;)
