dz63 Posted September 25, 2012 Author #251 Share Posted September 25, 2012 (edited) That is a great family photo -especially like the color contrasts. Did the DS & DH rent tuxes? Welcome onboard! I think we last communicated on my Carnival Victory review. No, my DS and DH did not rent tuxes. They simply wore a tuxedo shirt with a regular black suit. dz63 Posted September 25, 2012 Author #252 Share Posted September 25, 2012 Thank you for reposting this part of the review! You are so very welcome! What type of camera did you use tubing? I am glad you posted about the company with headrests. I too have been disappointed when reserve a private tour and then a "hired guide" is used and not owner you thought you would have. For any shots with water involved, we used a Fuji WP Finepix camera.

atlcruizr Posted September 27, 2012 #254 Share Posted September 27, 2012 But before we leave the MDR for our very last time, we get a photo of our wonderful waiter Slavisha with us. What an awesome review!! I love the detail and the photos that go along with it! I just got back from the Legend western caribbean cruise a few months ago myself and I always love to read what others think about it. I had Slavisa as my headwaiter as well!! :D (I'm pretty sure that he spells it without the "h", not that it matters :) ) I can tell your family loved him as much as we did! He's such a nice and funny guy! He looks so different without his spiked up hair though! It looks like from your video that he has a new section and new assistants. We were all the way on the right side against the windows and had assistants I Wayan & Nemanja. Too bad you didn't have them too, they were hilarious!! I Wayan wouldn't let us leave every night until he showed us a magic trick. Nemanja was an awesome dancer on the nights they did the singing & dancing! All three of them were so great & made our cruise that much better! I love your review! The picture of y'all with Slavisa brought back all those great memories of our cruise! I had to go back and look at the pictures we took with him on our last night lol. So glad you had a great time!!!

I would love to see a photo of him with his spiked hair! (Not that it matters, but he does spell his name with the "h". It is a silent "h" though. My DH wrote his name down on a piece of paper so we would remember how to spell and pronounce his name correctly. So whether he spells his name with an h or not--at least we know who he is! ;)) It sounds like I Wayan & Nemanja were wonderful helpers. It is too bad that we didn't get to meet them! It is amazing how much the waiters can add to your experience in the MDR. I don't even know the name of Slavisha's other helper--actually we didn't even see his helper that much. Most nights Slavisha was a one man show--serving the bread, taking our orders, bringing the dessert menu and serving our food. I think his helper only brought our desserts twice. We also had a new girl in training, Natalia and she basically kept our water glasses filled--although again Slavisha did this most nights as well. He truly was one busy guy! Even so, at the end of our dinner he always took some time to talk and tell us a little bit about his country and girlfriend. Thanks for sharing your memories too! I was so surprised looking at your review when you mentioned his name! I was wondering if it could be him, but i figured there's probably more than 1 waiter working for carnival with that name. But when I saw the picture, I was like "OMG It's him!!" We were on the cruise at the end of may/beginning of june. I liked his spikey hair! i thought the spiked hair with the square glasses was a good look for him! It sounds like he must have assistants that are pretty new, on our cruise he let them do a lot of the work lol. I don't know about on your cruise, but on our's he didn't seem to into the whole dancing thing lol. He spent most of the time trying to get us to dance with him than actually doing it himself lol. I have this one video that he's in, but you can't see him very well :(. I tried to attach a picture, but I can't get it to show up. Hopefully this link will work: That's so funny about his name! He must have 2 name tags lol. I have this one picture with him where you can read it , and it says "Slavisa". Our assistant waiter Nemanja had 2 name tags too I know, on one it was spelled correctly, on the other it was spelled "Nemanjah". so i guess that happens sometimes, but whatever :p I've only been on a couple cruises, but Slavisa & his assistants were definitely my favorite waiters! He was so kind & gracious. I don't know about all the other waiters, but he definitely has to be one of the best! dz63 Posted September 28, 2012 Author #258 Share Posted September 28, 2012 Thank you so much for your review and pictures! they were great & made me so excited! Did you happen to notice if there was a sushi bar onboard?? Thanks! I am not a Sushi eater so I did not pay much attention to that. However there was a Taste Bar set up on Deck 2 (infront of Satchmo's and near the magical playing piano!) and I believe that is where you would find the Sushi. This was available most nights from 5:30-8:30.

Slavisa/Slavisha whatever the correct spelling is? (However I'm thinking your spelling likely is the correct one--no wonder his name tag was hidden under his lapel)! Anyway Slavisa was a fantastic and very hardworking and devoted waiter. What a coincidence that you had the same waiter--that is sooo cool! It is true, he was not much into the dancing part. He always tried to get my boys to come and join him but never had any success with that! However, I did catch him on video...dancing! Click on the photo below to see it! I was able to open the photo link you sent with Slavisa. Thanks for sharing. I agree, he does look better with the spiked hairdo! I wonder if Slavisa ever sees these reviews? His dancing hasn't changed any in 3 months :p. Here's the link for my video if you're interested. It mostly show the 2 assistants, but you can sorta see him in the background part of the time. He unsuccessfully tried to get all the people at our table to dance with him. We have so many great memories with them from our cruise, just like your family does too I'm sure! I'm still amazed we had the same waiter! Out of all the reviews I've read, i've never recognized a name or seen a familiar face. It's so neat! Loved your pics and video too :D
bsndscrn Posted October 7, 2012 #266 Share Posted October 7, 2012 WOW! Well done! My wife & I are taking the Legend Western Caribbean cruise Nov. 11 this year. We were not able to go there on our cruise and instead we went to Costa Maya. Again, thanks for the wonderful photos. Thank you for taking the time to read my review and post your comments! It must have been somewhat disappointing not to be able to go to Belize--especially if you had any type of excursion planned. Hopefully you were still able to have a great time in Costa Maya. WOW! Well done! My wife & I are taking the Legend Western Caribbean cruise Nov. 11 this year. I had read some rather disparaging reviews, but your wonderfully in-depth & well written review has removed all concern. Thank you! I am glad my review helped to releave your concerns. The Legend really is a lovely ship--not too big and not too small and yet interestingly decorated. I am sure you will have a wonderful time. Enjoy your "legendary" cruise in November! I see you went on the zip line in Roatan. we were wondering if it was worth it ? And how much was it to do ? Your review was wonderful. I see you went on the zip line in Roatan. we were wondering if it was worth it ? And how much was it to do ? Your review was wonderful. Thank you Thank you for your kind comments and for taking the time to read through this review! ;) I have never cruised on the Paradise, but personally if I could have the choice over a 5 or 7 day cruise, I would choose the 7-day one for sure! In Roatan we ziplined on the Pirates of the Caribbean Extreme, Extreme Zipline. The cost of this zipline was $65/person. Was it worth it? Considering, we can now say we had zipped on the highest and longest lines in the Americas, I guess so. Did we have fun? Yes. Where the lines long? Yes. Was it high? Yes. Was it fast? Not as fast as we would have liked. The fastest zipline we have ever been on was Sky Safaris in St. Kitts. That zipline zipped the rider up to 80 km/hour or 50 miles/hour. I am not sure how fast this zipline actually went (I am guessing the fastest we zipped was around 30-40 miles/hour), but considering you slow down by gravity and there is no pull break or glove required to break shows that you do not reach that high of a speed. There is also some kind of block mechanism on the end of the lines which the guides will use to slow you down if necessary. Since this zipline did not fly us as fast, we did not find it to be that thrilling of a ride, but we still had alot of fun. If this would be your first time ziplining, I'm sure you would enjoy it and find it thrilling too.
bsharynu Posted November 9, 2012 #271 Share Posted November 9, 2012 Your review was amazing. Thank you so much for taking the time to write the review. I am going on the Legend on 12/16/12 with my husand and 2 children (3, 5). I am extremely excited for the cruise as I love cruises and don't get on them enough. I am a little disappointed about the cutbacks, but I am thinking that with a 3 and 5 year old, I probably won't notice those things.
grinch Posted February 11, 2013 #272 Share Posted February 11, 2013 First I want to say thank you for all you did it was truly amazing. You have a lovely family thank them also for being the stars of your review. I would however like to ask you about the smoking in the clubs/bars. We were on the Legend in 2009 and the smoke was overwhelming to us because we do not smoke. We will be going again in November taking my Mom (80) and ds and her dh, your review has really excited my ds and her dh they have never cruised before. So BIG THANKS again for all you did. In regards to smoking, we are also non-smokers and I can honestly say that I did not find the smoke onboard the Legend to be much of an issue at all. With Carnival's latest smoking policy, smoking is permitted on stateroom balconies but is not permitted in the staterooms. Smoking is also permitted on certain areas on the outside decks, starboard side, as well as in the Casino, Satchmo's Lounge and in the upper level of Medusa's Lair Dance Club. All the other bars and lounges are smoke-free. Thanks again for your comments and enjoy your cruise aboard the Legend! T2C Posted February 12, 2013 #275 Share Posted February 12, 2013 Then it was time for our very last dinner in the MDR. Every evening, before we were served our starters, either our waiter Slavisha or one of his helpers, brought out a basket with freshly baked bread or rolls for us to choose from. I never did a get a photo of the bread, but here is a photo of the butter dish! Starters tonight included: Baked sweet potato soup. Grilled chicken breast with fettuccine… ..and from the didja menu (food you always wanted to try, but didn’t dare), Frog legs with provencale herb butter. Well, we dared and we all tried some of the frog legs. After tasting this, I can confidently say, we are not amphibian eaters! Don't base your opinion of frog legs on these. We were on the cruise right before you and these were the worse tasting frog legs I've ever had, and I love frog legs.
