Trainman-2 Posted October 17, 2012 Author #877 Share Posted October 17, 2012 It is hard to tell but there is a road crossing this bare area. Front End Loaders spent the morning digging out sand. If you look close you can see a white bridge in the background. This is some sort of dry river bed and probably brought down a lot of sand during Hurricane Paul. Trainman-2 Posted October 17, 2012 Author #878 Share Posted October 17, 2012 You can't see the white bridge in the above photo. I zoomed in too close. I will look for another photo that shows it.
Rare BecciBoo Posted October 17, 2012 #879 Share Posted October 17, 2012 Who Is This? He somehow looks familiar... Isn't that Santa Claus? I met him one day on Liberty I think. He always wears red and he was in red overalls for breakfast in WJ one morning and we sat with him. He plays Santa but loves to cruise.

Darkwolfe Posted October 17, 2012 #882 Share Posted October 17, 2012 And the most awesome Live thread continues. We were in PV and Cabo on Mariner's last MR cruise a couple of years back. Both stops were very nice. But, man, that was a chilly cruise for my tastes. Had to have a jacket for a bit in Cabo when we arrived.

stretchcruz Posted October 18, 2012 #887 Share Posted October 18, 2012 Trainman, I know you get tons of questions, but I just want to repeat mine...Is Roscoe Perreira a headwaiter or maitre'd on the Vision? We have sailed on the Vision 8 times, and he was a waiter when we started out, then a headwaiter....haven't been on the Vision since she went overseas. Thanks so much for your answer.... dwdwnurse Posted October 18, 2012 #888 Share Posted October 18, 2012 Hi Jim and Judith! Just spent the past hour plus catching up! I'm so glad to have found another wonderful "live" post. You two are the best :) Lucky you to get to spend 28 days at sea. I will think of you when I'm teaching at our local high school in the morning and wishing I was right there with you! Have a great rest of your cruise - can't wait for more pictures!!! Debbie
Trainman-2 Posted October 18, 2012 Author #889 Share Posted October 18, 2012 Day 14 - Thursday - October 18th - At Sea Somewhere in the Pacific Good Morning Everyone, We are at sea today and will arrive in San Diego tomorrow for the turn-around and begin out voyage home tomorrow night. A good bit of movement of the ship this morning. Mostly rise and fall of the bow and stern. Nothing severe but I had to take care waling with my notebook up to the pool deck. The crew was setting up fresh morning coffee as I arrived about 4:15 am (Mountain Time) so I could not have timed it better this morning. Tonight we set our clocks back one hour to put us on Pacific Time.

Trainman-2 Posted October 18, 2012 Author #895 Share Posted October 18, 2012 Here is the update on the Ship’s satellite link and the Internet problems. When I asked what the problem was the answer I got was that it was due to the ship’s positioning. What this really means is that the ship is too far from the Satellite and instead of the Satellite being overhead, it is either too close to the horizon of over the horizon and out of sight. In simple terms, while RCI was operating Ships in the Caribbean Sea, a single Satellite could provide good coverage to all of the ships. But this coverage is not adequate for ships on Atlantic Crossings on in the Pacific. Starting in November, RCI is going to install new, more efficient, satellite transmission and receiver equipment on all of its ships. Also they are going to start expanded satellite service with a different company which will provide significantly increased satellite coverage for RCI Ships anywhere in the world. Unfortunately, this won’t help me! You can expect me to fade out in the same areas I had no coverage on the west bound trip as we return to Fort Lauderdale. Be patient! I am wondering around the ship shooting photos everywhere. Most of them I will post up after I get home. When I have internet coverage, I will continue to post highlights as we go along.
