I haven't been back to Bermuda since 1996, and this review has me considering Bermuda for my 2014 criuse. Would do it sooner but Epic comes first. Yes Kev should definitely get some perks from the Bermuda Tourism Board for his awesome review!:)

I'm sending this thread to my mom - she's agreed to go on a cruise with me, and I think Bermuda would be PERFECT! *lol* And Kev is describing it soooo wonderfully - thanks, and I look forward to reading more.....

Good call! Bermuda is amazing...... Kev has a knack for writing and photography. Great combination. Stay tuned, he is due back soon.

Indeed Kev is still here and will continue ASAP. As you all know I am a grad student and this is the time of year I am buried with Seminar reseach papers, but I have so many loyal followers that I don't want to lose,so I will take an hour or so and post tonite.

Thanks all;

Kev

Up next: Royal Dockyard , drinks on the pier, and The White Hot Party.

So Kev vrooomed down the hill from the lighthouse and turned right and within 20-30 minutes I was back at the Royal naval Dockyard. This was my first time into this port as all my other times I docked at St George.(Majesty, twice, Dream twice) So I parked my trusty scooter in the parking area between the 2 ships and camera in hand I set forth. The light was still very good so I snapped some shots. I didn't go into any tourist stuffcause I was saving that for my last day tomorrow. e.g. Snorkel park, Fort and Museum...etc

The Dockyard is actually quite comprehensive and what is here and what you can do is more complex than most ports esp. Caribbean ports which are just usually some shops, and some grab u bars like Carlos and Senor Frogs etc...

So this is the Royal naval Dockyard

This is the choo choo that goes around a coupla times....People Movers adore the choo choo

bth_StarKingsWharf2012037.jpg?t=2254550640

No Idea what this is but it had shops

bth_StarKingsWharf2012022.jpg?t=2254550640

Center area and the famous Pink Bus

bth_StarKingsWharf2012010.jpg?t=2254550640

Entrance to Snorkel park Beach and Hammerheads Bar(More on Hammerheads later....Duh...(Like Kev would miss a bar)

bth_StarKingsWharf2012017-1.jpg?t=2254550640

The RCCI Explorer. It is a beautiful ship and has very nice classic lines Kev wanted to try this ship....BUT cost for 1 in an inside was $1200.00 higher than the Star and besides I am an NCL loyalist.

The anchorage is quite large and I noticed it had about 100 slips with many gorgeous(see $$$$) boats

Next Up:Late afternoon party for 1.

So I walked all around...about a half/hour and as I approached the end of the docks, right before you go over the Bridge and out of the Dockyard, I saw a little white store, that said something like.....Dockyard Marine Store. The only important thing the sign said was Liquors(Oh My) Snacks, fuel, marine supplies. The shell crushed parking area was small and had a couple of cars and a couple of scooters and seawall had 1/2 a dozen picnic tables with umbrellas. It overlooked the docks and afforded a great view of the Explorer as well. So I sashayed on in and parked my ass at a picnic table and thought I might read a little. Not only that I had my Kindle too ...so I sat and I pulled out my book stuff and noticed an ashtray on the table(s) in buckets filled with sea rocks. very nice I thought. Then on the store wall and on a sign a ways down was NO SMOKING....FUEL AREA. I'm like helllooooo why the ashtrays(and people smokin) So I moved to the last picnic table away from the fuel station. And now here comes the fun part. Ther are people sitting on each side and they have a few bags of hooch and some pepsis etc....Now they looked like Ship tourists and definetly a few ships crew so I decided when in Bermuda!!!No one looked derilect and no one looked embarressed and although I never did this form of imbibing I went in. I bought a 1/2 pint of Bacardi and a huge pepsi for $9.00(about the price of 1 drink and went back to my table. I guiltily poured some pepsi off and added the 1/2 pint and resealed and shook. Since I never did this before(do any of you believe that) And I opened the bottle and....what......here it comes.....wait.....did u guess......pssssshhhhhh sop. 1/2 the bottle flew out all over me. LOL

So I washed up with my baby wipes(Always carry a pack of Baby Wipes:rolleyes:) that I always carry and took out my book.

It was peaceful and scenic.

So I read and I sipped-gulped and caught a little buzz and it was getting dark so I schmoozed back to The Beautiful Norwegian Star.

Next Up: Prime Rib(s) and Happy hour at the Champagne Bar. Happy Hour at the Champagne Bar is 7:00-8:00

Kev - Hope all is going well with your grad work. Thanks for taking the time from your hectic schedule to give us an update. I noted you sailed on the beautiful Majesty. I loved that smaller ship. It had lots of charm. Anyway, the boards are moving fast these days. I will make an effort to keep your thread afloat while your busy. :)

So up the middle gangplank and up to the main atrium and toward aft and passed the queen's staircase and looked over and saw the usual suspects at the Champagne Bar.....:o So I scooted past the casino down the stairs to 5 and left to 5502 then right to 5502, tripped over a full pizza box..insert card open ...TV and movie Channel has Rock of Ages, the part where Russell Brand is kissing Alec Baldwin...of course and quick shower....dress in Island Gear...(White goes on after the Au jus) Khakis and nice polo(Bermuda sea blue) Kev has style .. and boat shoes....and up to my reserved stool at the Champagne Bar....Seat still there and a very quick It's Mr kevin...cheers all around and a drink in front of me bought by somebody nice. It was a fruity frozen something made with lots of rum which I just had so I was impressed with everyone's drink prowess....Sip then sip then chat and chat and discuss my day. people did not believe what I actually had done....no way....but when you have a scooter and know where to go it is easy. I ate a glass or 2 of the famous bar trail mix, that everyone eventually get's addicted to.Most everyone was dressed Island Style or White Party style. Everyone said the lines for Aqua and Versailles were hefty as it was Prime Rib Night. Some were going at 8:30 or 9:00 and invited me...but I didn't want to wait because that would put me out at 10:00 or later and that was not acceptable to Kev.....so I had another fruity and took it with me....said my adieu's cause a single can usually get in pronto anytime....So off to Aqua and Bammmm....as Emeril would say.....Bammmm...Maybe 50 people in the hall...but it was 8;00 after all.I went to desk, gave my name and the very nice hostess,...all staff and all hostess' are very nice.. told me 1/2 hour. I said OK, what else was I gonna do. So ten minutes later I am in.

So I ordered a Frozen White Russian (white party...get it) and told waitress we could make it quick cause it was busy....No Apetizer, Prime Rib, Rare, Rice whatever veggie your tossing at me, close menu, thank you very much.

10 minutes as I finished my fruity I get a White Party Russian and 10 minutes later I get a juicy Prime Rib. Well at least it was medium rare and I knifed off a slab and tasted it and it really was quite good. 5 Minutes later sweetheart waitress says is evrythink Ok...MMMM. Please bring me another just like it and she doesn't bat an eye ..and says no problem....I love NCL.

So stuffed with my Prime Rib I forego the desset and get my check and leave a nice tip and the whole Prime Rib affair took 40 minutes. Yep..single has it's advantages. So feeling stuffed I walked up to 7 and hit the promenade. it was a gorgeous night as it had been since we arrived. like 78 degress....Moon...Stars Galore and so I had a smoke, sat in a lounger and remenisced about my day, thought about my night and chatted with the walkers by. I then decided to actually walk off my Rib which I did three times around.

Next up: White Hot Party:D

Loving your review, Kevin! I think yours is the only mention of NCL's bar mix I have ever seen. DH and I have gone through countless of these dispensers. For those who have never seen them, they are clear glass, ball shaped at the bottom and heavy, so as not to tip over in heavy seas, with a tall, round narrow top for easy dispensing. Actually a little obscene looking if you've had a few. I hear Princess, RCCL and X can't compare in this department!:D. I'm surprised they don't sell them in the gift shops. Probably would sell more than a few. It has been 2 months since our Bermuda cruise on the Star and I am feeding my cruise habit with your review. It is almost like being there!

Still along for the ride, Kev...keep it coming when you have some free time. I've "borrowed" some of the Bermuda info (copied & pasted) to my puter, so I can plan my Breakaway trip. I'd like to check out that Church Bay beach for some snorkeling (thanks for the maps)...and was glad you included info about the Crystal/Fantasy Caves, I had that on my first list when I booked the Breakaway. Can't wait to see them in person now.

I still wish I could get on that 6/9 Breakaway sailing. That roll call sounds like such a great group. I would love to join Kev and the fruity drinks. But, alas, that is NYS regents week so a definite no-go. :(

So you'll have to get on with that review somewhat quicker, as you'll have to finish it within the week span of when you return and I embark:p:D

Thank's Waverley. I am sailing on the Breakaway next June 09. We have a great bhoard for CC and we already have 130 passengers and still 6 months out. Many people on this thread are going. We have meet n Greet Team, ...we have a countdown master...We have a passenger manifest Guy (Roll Call Keeper) That be Me....I will also be doing a free scooter tour and I am sure we will have a sail away party and some slot pulls as well.

Sherry is one of my biggest fan (See Large Spomge Bob and Mickey Countdown for our Breakasway) She knows better cause Kev will dump her back to the bottom of the passenger manifest if she acts up. LOL JK:eek:

Really want to sail on her, however I'm going to have to wait as I have the Pearl in January and Las Vegas in April! Maybe 2014!

Sounds like a fun time for sure!
