bornfreenowexpensive Posted November 16, 2012 #1 Share Posted November 16, 2012 If my hotel is near the train station, how complicated is it to get to the airport, next month?

mapleleaves Posted November 17, 2012 #3 Share Posted November 17, 2012 The train station is on the Grand Canal, almost directly across from the Train Station. Assuming you can easily manage your luggage, you would walk across the Calatrava Bridge to the Piazzale Roma where you catch the ATVO airport express bus to the airport, 20 minutes away. This map should give you a good idea of the location ... the train station is at the top of the page. http://europeforvisitors.com/venice/hotelmaps/marittima.htm

The blue buses in the photo are the express ATVO airport buses. The bridge has steps. I'm told there are helpers available for the price of a tip. It's 450 yards from the centre of the plaza in front of the train stn. to the bus stop.
KirkNC Posted November 17, 2012 #5 Share Posted November 17, 2012 Very easy, walk across the bridge and catch a cab.
WeBeGone Posted November 19, 2012 #6 Share Posted November 19, 2012 Another option is the AVTO boat. It takes about an hour but is a lovely way to say goodby to Venice.
