manyquestionscruiser Posted December 1, 2012 #1 Share Posted December 1, 2012 We have cruised before but not since airlines put in luggage charges. Any ideas how to pack snorkel equip along with all of those clothes and supplies? Thanks!!!
Philob Posted December 1, 2012 #2 Share Posted December 1, 2012 We: Leave the fins at home, rent or borrow at excursion/destination. Do pack own goggles n' snorkle. If SCUBA: we bite the bullet and pay extra luggage fee and pack all our dive gear.
Laurie S. Posted December 1, 2012 #3 Share Posted December 1, 2012 Put the fins in the bottom of the bag and carryon the rest. ;)

runner15km Posted December 1, 2012 #5 Share Posted December 1, 2012 We also pack fins in the bottom of the suitcase and the mask/snorkel goes in my backpack.
Ashland Posted December 1, 2012 #6 Share Posted December 1, 2012 Packing fins are a waste of weight & space... JMHO.
jerry2457 Posted December 1, 2012 #7 Share Posted December 1, 2012 I assume you want to take them with you so a couple of ways to do so: 1. Pack them crosswise in the bottom of checked luggage and pack snorkel and mask around other clothes. 2. Take a beach bag with you or carry bag and pack them in that. Keep that with you when boarding the plane as a carry on or pack em in a small carry on bag. They do take up a lot of room but I like to have mine with me when we cruise into the Caribbean so I do take them
Putterdude Posted December 2, 2012 #8 Share Posted December 2, 2012 I have always packed my snorkel gear in the bottom of a large suitcase into which we put t-shirts, shorts, swimsuits and alike.
michmike Posted December 2, 2012 #9 Share Posted December 2, 2012 I'm w/ those who say leave the fins home. For most of the snorkeling you will do in ports, they really aren't that necessary and do take up a lot of space.
5326jan Posted December 2, 2012 #10 Share Posted December 2, 2012 If you don't want to rent/borrow fins, you could always buy some travel fins. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_0_11?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=travel+fins&sprefix=travel+fins%2Caps%2C197 They're much shorter/wider than regular fins. dulcimergirl Posted December 2, 2012 #11 Share Posted December 2, 2012 I bought a pair of those short fins, they work just fine in the bottom of my suitcase. Well worth taking along in my opinion. I might have to leave a pair of shoes or two, but I'll always have my snorkel gear. lol
