Got my room assignment, think my gamble didn't pay off

Just received my room assignment for our Dream 2/16/13 cruise for our interior guarantee - 2237. Not thrilled with this at all. I know it was part of the gamble with a guarantee room so I'll have to deal. It isn't so much the deck or anything, but after a quick search I read that the galley is above this room and is really noisy from 6am-7am, don't feel like waking up that early due to noise while on vacation. :(

Last year our gamble was great on the Valor, had a forward interior on the Verandah deck and loved it. I didn't expect that luck this time, but am really worried about the noise.

Has anyone had this room or one near it?

Thats what I'm afraid of with this new rate structure, easy saver & super saver you can not pick your room..I always do Early saver and pick my room and get a room between two passenger decks...I really think they have changed it because they were giving so much OBC to people that booked Early saver...I really would not like to get the room above the music lounge, disco or casino.....Dennis

I thought 2237 was an interior under the Encore theater. Shouldn't be noisy at all in the mornings. Never really heard of complaints of noise during afternoon or evening shows either. Most shows are done by 11P, if not earlier. The Galley is aft over the 2400s. But again, I haven't seen reviews where there were complaints on noise from the gallies; most are quite surprised by the lack of noise.

If the only bad thing about that cabin is some noise I wouldn't let that bother you. That can easily be remedied if you bring ear plugs. Who knows, you may never have to use them but you can take them in case. I wouldn't worry too much! It could be worse. :) Enjoy your cruise!

I doubt I'll ever do a guarantee - the cost would have to be a LOT less than a fare where I can pick my cabin.

Also, 2237 is an Inside, forward on Dream. Interactive Map of Dream

I agree with you...there are too many undesirable cabins for me to take the gamble. I think it's because of all the undesireable locations that have gone unsold in the past that prompted Carnival to make most of the new rate structure have the guarantee feature.

The other posters are correct. Cabin 2237 is under the theater. I have been in 2217 on the Dream. There is no worry about the galley. We didn't have any noise from the theater. Of course we were usually out and about until midnight or later.

The only noise we experienced was during some rough seas. We could here the waves crashing. But earplugs worked great for those 2 nights. I would definitely book that cabin again.

Thanks everyone! I should've looked at the deck map myself, someone must've written down the wrong rooms or something (http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1310000&page=2&highlight=2237 post 23) because they complained about the galley noise...but looking at the map I feel much better, thanks!

I'd of course prefer a higher deck or something, but now that I know that the noise shouldn't be a problem (we'll be up later than the shows I'm sure) I don't really mind. We don't spend much time in the room (I'm sure if we had a balcony that would be different, maybe another year... ;) )

Thanks!
