scgamecock Posted December 20, 2012 #26 Share Posted December 20, 2012 The Panama Canal transit sounds like an amazing itinerary. Might just have to plan on this one...
Captain Carnival Posted December 20, 2012 #27 Share Posted December 20, 2012 We brought her sister ship the Inspiration to the West Coast through the Panama Canal in Dec 2011 and it was a phenomenal vacation... y'all will have an absolute blast! I'd join you if we weren't bringing the Miracle through the Canal next March. ;) I wonder about the cost of a 16 day cruise?
brilliantseas Posted December 20, 2012 #28 Share Posted December 20, 2012 I wonder about the cost of a 16 day cruise? At that time of year, I would guess they will start around $1,249 for an inside cabin.
ccruisequeen Posted December 20, 2012 #29 Share Posted December 20, 2012 According to Carnival- Carnival Imagination will offer three-day cruises to Ensenada, Mexico, departing on Thursdays and four-day voyages to Catalina Island and Ensenada departing on Sundays. The vessel's sister ship, Carnival Inspiration, will continue to offer a similar program from Long Beach with three-day cruises departing on Fridays and four-day cruises on Mondays. Good question re: the parking. Wonder when Miracle will be sailing if imagination is taking the birth on Sundays? That's Splendor's sailing s date! MrPete Posted December 20, 2012 #30 Share Posted December 20, 2012 Makes me wonder if this is the springboard for sending a second ship to Australia.
welldone60 Posted December 20, 2012 #31 Share Posted December 20, 2012 Makes me wonder if this is the springboard for sending a second ship to Australia. I am kinda thinking with you Mr Pete.... Something else is in the planning of this. Thinking the Miracle will be short lived on the west coast.
welldone60 Posted December 20, 2012 #32 Share Posted December 20, 2012 Well I think this is the answer. http://www.travelweekly.com.au/travel-today/news/carnival-flags-second-vessel And they have already canceled some 2014 sailings of the Miracle. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1753812 So the west coast is shafted again. boaterette Posted December 20, 2012 #33 Share Posted December 20, 2012 Since the Miracle is moving to Australia I guess Carnival is no longer going to be doing Alaska.
MrPete Posted December 20, 2012 #34 Share Posted December 20, 2012 Makes me wonder if this is the springboard for sending a second ship to Australia. I'd hate the states to lose 50% of the best class afloat.
kicia Posted December 20, 2012 #35 Share Posted December 20, 2012 At that time of year, I would guess they will start around $1,249 for an inside cabin. Here is a listing of the Early Saver rates for the Panama Canal cruise. 1A - $979 PT - $999 4A - $999 - 4I - $1099 6A - $1249 - 6E - $1379 JS - 2249 OB - 2149 GS - 2849 The inside and oceanview cabins are a range as listed. The Past Guest rates are about $50 per person more except for the suites which are the same prices.
ccruisequeen Posted December 20, 2012 #36 Share Posted December 20, 2012 If Miracle is leaving maybe Imagination WILL do the 7-day route!
LaJollaCruiser Posted December 22, 2012 #37 Share Posted December 22, 2012 How sad they are repeating the same mistake. I'm not sure it's a mistake. The 3 and 4-day cruises out of Long Beach have always been popular. Perhaps the demand is there from 12 millions in the L.A. basin to take short cruises? Elation, being homeported in San Diego, did not draw the same crowds as an L.A.-based ship might. Who in San Diego would want to take a ship to Ensenada when one can drive there in an hour? CruiseAdict218 Posted December 22, 2012 #38 Share Posted December 22, 2012 That 16-Day would have been awesome if school wasn't in the way.

The vessel's sister ship, Carnival Inspiration, will continue to offer a similar program from Long Beach with three-day cruises departing on Fridays and four-day cruises on Mondays. Good question re: the parking. The seven day cruises to the Mexican Riviera leave on Sundays. I guess those will move to Saturdays. There is plenty of parking. Not only is there a multiple level parking structure near the ship, there is all that parking next to the Queen Mary ...
ccruisequeen Posted December 22, 2012 #40 Share Posted December 22, 2012 If Splendor is going East and Miracle is going to Austrailia then there will be no reason to start a cruise on Saturday. There will be no Ships to do it!
