Can Relative Visit Haven If Not in a Suite?

We will be in a Haven Suite on the Epic but our adult children will be in a regular room a few decks down. Can they get to us without key cards, can they use the Haven facilities with us--dining, lounge, Haven suite sun deck, etc.? Can the concierge book venues for 4 rather than 2? Thanks for any information.

They will not be able to use the Haven facilities.

You can escort them to the Haven area and bring them back to your room.

The concierge is at your service. They will book as many as you request.

So they cannot eat with us in the Haven restaurant or sit out by the Haven pool with us? Asking because I am wondering if it is too problematic for them to be "downstairs" and if I should encourage them to upgrade to a suite. (This is a pricey question!)

Yes it will be pricey, but if they want Haven privileges, then let them pay Haven prices.

In general no. Haven only areas needs a proper coded key card to get in, so you would have to meet them. If you are in a room with haven access not in the main haven area, then they can get to your room no problem, but not get into the Haven only areas alone. They are free to be in your room with you as much as you want :)

can they use the Haven facilities with us--dining, lounge, Haven suite sun deck, etc.?

In most cases no. While you are usually free to give them a guided tour of Haven communal areas, those areas are for paying Haven guests only. If there is a special circumstance, by all means feel free to ask your butler or concierge, but be prepared to take a no with good grace.

Can the concierge book venues for 4 rather than 2? Thanks for any information.

This many have done with no problem. Let your concierge know early that this will be happening, and thank well for the extra service. They will let you know if there is anything they cannot do.

Since it seems your group wants to be very active together to the point that the different levels of rooms may cause access issues, maybe considering sharing a 2 bedroom haven room or them upgrading to the lowest level room with haven access would be in order? That way, all would have equal access and no one would have to forgo perks (or ask for extra perks to be granted) just to be together on the ship.:)

have a GREAT cruise! :)

The Haven is by key card access so you will have to let them in. You can have them up to your suite and have lunch or breafast delivered-dinner too from any of the specialty restaurants (charge for dinner).

The concierge will help make any reservations you want for any number of people. Additionally, they may help you get priority tender tickets for your entire group if you are at a tender port.

The Haven itself is limited to those staying in the actual suites (although I have read reports where some people do bring guests staying in other cabins)...seems like the Epic is more strict on this.

You can also invite them to the Epic Club for dinner and pay a 25$ surcharge for them - but someone else posted previously that the other fee venues are better than the Epic club for dinner.

Have a great cruise!

I believe that you can have guests a couple of times during your cruise in the Haven restaurant but you have to pay a surcharge for them. As others have said no, they cannot use the sun decks and haven facilities. That is for people who have paid for those perks. Obviously it wouldn't be fair for your kids to sit in loungers, etc that other Haven paying customers wouldn't be able to use. Just common sense.

Enjoy your cruise.

If there is any way they can get a Haven cabin this would certainly simplify things...would be worth it IMO but only if you can afford it. Am in a similar situation now as we are traveling with my brother and his family-us in a suite and them not...I am leaning towards biting the bullet and just getting them a suite so that we can all hang out as a family and not have to worry about restricted access etc. But it's not worth overextending financially...

You can have them inside your suite but they do not have access to haven as that is for haven guest use only

It is a tough decision, I know. We traveled with family before when we were in a suite on the Sun, (there is no haven on the sun) and family was not. If we all wanted to be together for breakfast or lunch we would go to the MDR or Great Outdoors. Otherwise we would di the suite meal and then meet up with them afterwards. It is doable.

Also, we cruised on the Jewel years ago and met two gents at our hotel who were in the haven. They invited us up for lunch in their suite. The butler had brought trays of sandwiches and stuff. They gave us a walk-thru tour of the haven common area and explained to us that out of respect for the other haven pax that was all they could do with us. I so respected that! But, wow... It opened our eyes and introduced us to the suite life. I would rather cruise in a suite every other year than in a non-suite every year. (We just take a few land based trips in between.)

If all can be in the haven it does make it more cohesive. And enjoyable. But that is not always an option.

Whatever you decide, have fun!!!

  • 5 years later...

So I realize my response is much delayed here, but because I did a lot of searching, researching on this exact question prior to our May 2018 NCL Epic Cruise on this exact subject, I wanted to share our experience. We were a family of 6 traveling on the May 23rd Rome Mediterranean Cruise. My husband, myself and 2 teenage sons stayed in the Haven, 2 bedroom family suite. My oldest son and girlfriend were on deck 11. Upon arriving at the terminal, we asked if they could board with us? Permission granted. They sat with us in the Haven area and the concierge brought us all up together-they had lunch with us, then went on to find their room. Could we get them access to the Posh? Of course...paid the $59 each. They had trouble accessing the posh with their cards...so we went to Haven Concierge who provided them with Visitor access key cards- These cards gave them access not only to all Haven facilities, but to our room in the Haven as well. They were able to use all services in the Haven. They sat with us in the bar, used the hot tubs. Concierge and Butlers were all aware they were on deck 11. Now, it is entirely possible that this situation is a case by case basis. I suspect rules were broken, but the fact that they accommodated us was greatly appreciated and we tipped well to all. They did not have to do any of this and we fully anticipated that they would only be able to go to the POSH. My point is that if you ask nicely, pay for the POSH, you may get lucky as well. My mother always said, "it never hurts to ask." Good luck to anyone in the same boat...hope you have the same experience.

i personally would not travel in a suite if i had friends or family on board that were not in a suite.

what happens is you either take full advantage of your suite perks that you paid for (and ditch your family/friends to do so) or you forego the suite perks you paid for to spend time with your family/friends out in the common areas. IMO, either is ideal.

(I know this thread is from 5 years ago but responding to the recent bump:)

Traciah I think it's great you had this experience in that I'm glad they were so accommodating to you all. However I will say quite honestly that this bums me out if families who aren't in Haven are allowed to join their families in Haven to use all of the services (although I'm not sure if you meant that you also brought them to the restaurant). We are paying a huge premium to sail in Haven with the idea that it's exclusive. Sigh.

Completely agree.
